How should the Bills utilize graham and Goodwin?
Webster Guy replied to KeepHopeAlive's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Little burners at WR in the NFL are always intriguing and fun to see on the roster and on the field, but if you look at the production receivers in the league, they're rarely guys like TJ Graham and Goodwin. There are a few exceptions but I don't expect either one of those two guys to change any games for us this year as receivers. Kick/punt returners maybe. That would be great. I don't think TJ Graham will be in the NFL in two years. Getting separation on deep routes is only a small part of the game, the rest is stuff like body control, timing your jumps, ball instincts, pushing off without getting flagged, hands, route adjustments etc. and TJ doesn't have it. I hope I'm wrong, and he's still just a kid learning the ropes, but I'd rather have a bigger target with great hands like David Nelson on my roster than TJ Graham all day long. This stretching the field stuff is overrated, I want receivers that can get open consistently and help move the chains. Its the formula NE uses and it works. Looking forward to seeing Goodwin in camp this year, he flashes some DeSean Jackson stuff in his highlights, seems tough and strong for his size. -
Chandler determined to be ready.
Webster Guy replied to Ralph W.'s topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I think he IS a game changer. 40 catches and 6 td's every year for a TE is great. He had just as many TD's as Stevie Johnson and CJ last year. Runs tough routes, great hands, huge target at 6 foot 7. You're right about the young WR's and the need for experienced targets out there. He's going to be EJ's first NFL TD pass......... -
always loved the Moats man. he has a great motor and can drive NFL tackles backward, not just an edge rusher with one move like the Maybin's of the world. pettine's defense stresses versatility and speed though, and i'm afraid Arthur might get left behind this year in favor of better coverage guys. i always wondered how he would do if they put 15 pounds of muscle on his 250 pound frame him and played him at DE as a third down specialist.

Peyton Manning's everything, throw in Brett Favre toughness, Michael Vick's legs, Drew Bledsoe's winemaking skills, Joe Namath's sideline fur coat, Kapernick's tattoos, Tony Romo's girlfriends and the salary of Russell Wilson. In the words of Charles Grodin.......'Sounds like our man'

Family of evicted fan sue local government agencies
Webster Guy replied to Beerball's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Too bad. Its already a terrible tragedy, now the family has to try and steal some money from the county because a lawyer says they can. If I was the guy who died and my family did this I would roll over in my grave. Maybe the county should just hire babysitters for every drunk person who wanders around at night. -
Ray was embarrassingly slow his last season, I would have felt bad for him but lying to police in a murder investigation is kind of unforgivable. He was definitely a great leader, just a poor player. In his prime he was amazing. I think the Ravens would have been a better team with Ray on the sideline doing his cheerleading thing and a young guy that could cover AND tackle out there.
-
He should call Ray Lewis, you remember him, the guy who was charged with murder but got them reduced to obstruction of justice in a homicide investigation in exchange for testifying against his buddies who are now rotting in jail. That same guy who Goodell was hugging after the superbowl and is now going to be working for the networks.

Overrated Owner and Organization
Webster Guy replied to WIDE LEFT's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
You can't be serious. Did you say Brady wasn't that great his first few years? His completion percentage in his first full year was higher than his career average. Oh and he won a championship. Obviously QB's get better over time but your statement is ridiculous. So exactly what is the "culture of Belichick" that developed him? BIll's whopping 36-44 head coaching record at Cleveland? His last season there and his first one in NE he went 5-11. And that was WITH pro bowl QB Drew Bledsoe. Man that culture was really something. You said "Few other teams would have done anything with him". You mean throw him into the game because your franchise QB just sheared a blood vessel in his chest. Yeah that's real genius strategic planning. Here you go Tom, good luck. Their defense was ranked 24th in the league that year too. What a culture. He's done a great job with the defense lately too, as you can tell by their bottom of the league rankings. Yeah Brady didn't do anything. Its was all Kraft and Belichick. -
On defense I could see Aaron Williams being a great safety and losing the bust tag forever. Carrington and Moats honorable mention. Offense is tricky because I still have no idea how to evaluate linemen, especially interior ones. I would have said Donald Jones but he was so underrated we shipped him off to New England. I would say Eric Wood simply because he's probably the one guy next to Spiller that we must have on the field to keep those chains moving. The more Jim Kelly talked about Kent Hull's importance to the team, the more respect I have for that position. Manning still says his game is different without Jeff Saturday at center.

Gotta admit the guy made some very tough catches at WR last year. Plays fearless. Great Hands. 6-2, 215lbs, good for matchups against those small nickel corners. I hate Brad Smith as a kickoff return guy because he looks so freaking slow but he took one to the house for 89 yards last year, and did it three times for the Jets when he was their returner. I think he will secure a spot as a wideout. Stevie gets hurt a lot, we'll need an experienced backup in there.

I hope they're different. I was very unimpressed with TJ Graham's ball skills last year. Granted he had one of the worst long ball throwers in the game at QB, but he always seemed to either be looking back at the ball too early or too late, and being beaten physically for position when the ball was arriving. Maybe Goodwin has more of a knack for beating NFL corners and getting open. Or maybe the light comes on for TJ this year. Either way, the small burner WR's that do so well in college rarely become impact WR's in the NFL. Seems like their role these days is keeping free safeties honest and playing deeper than usual so the bigger, productive WR's and TE's can work on the underneath stuff that moves the chains. It will be nice to see EJ sling a few 60 yarders though. Haven't seen an arm like his since Losman.

Interesting comment by Brian Moorman about the past Bills
Webster Guy replied to ganesh's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Yeah ok. Lets switch divisions and qb's with Pitt and see how they do for the past decade. Talk about standards and expectations all you want, but if you can't find a stud qb you are lucky to be 8-8. This implied notion that Pitt wants to win more is a joke. -
Glenn faced some of the best pass rushers in the world last year as a rookie and graded out just fine. My guess is that he isn't an offseason type of guy (seems like we lost a lot of those when Rusty Jones got canned--which I still consider one of our front office's biggest blunders) He has power and quick feet plus a year under his belt. I wouldn't worry about OTA performances. Some athletes just have to play themselves back into shape. Either way he had better hurry because from all indications this is going to be a very fast paced up-tempo offense that might not allow much time in between plays for the big fella's to catch their breath. Fitzy, for all his faults, was still a relatively easy guy to protect because he and Chan had a system for quick throws and minimal pocket time. This may have made Cordy look better than he really was, and playing with Levitre doesn't hurt you either. Both of those things are gone this year, so we need a big sophomore year from big 77.....

Imagine how different the NFL would look if Andrew Luck had opted in for that draft. Carolina would have had him, and we likely would have either Cam or Von Miller on our team.
-
This is an interesting point. Most of the time you hear the opposite like "Ron Brooks would have been a standout if he wasn't the 3rd corner on a loaded LSU defense". But I never thought about it the other way around. Shep is a good example. He was the point man for a great college defense, but when he came to the NFL he looked like the slowest guy out there and couldn't get off blocks. McCargo also backs up your point. I guess there are examples both ways.

great one. remember its considered bad luck to change the name of a boat, so i would avoid anything named after current players (loved the Sea J Spiller though) SeaReed 83 I saw one at the 1000 islands called Sir Osis of the River

Miami writer: Stevie Johnson's a No. 2
Webster Guy replied to GOBILLS78's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Stevie has basically the same yards per game average as Larry Fitzgerald for the last two years. Maybe Larry is a number 2 receiver as well..... for that matter, anyone but AJ Green and Calvin Johnson are all number 2's i wanna go #2 on that article -
Hey congrats anyway. That's a good milestone for sure. the mods should send you a cake or something............

Seeing EJ Manuel in a live game, and not knowing he was going to be a Buffalo Bill at the time, I just remembered his ability to buy time, and that he was fearless. One thing that stands out when looking at him as a pro player is his throwing motion is lightning fast. Compared to a guy like Jim Kelly or Fitz its night and day. EJ just kinda flicks the ball from his ear and it's gone. He seems like a guy that would be very tough to strip the ball from because he's got huge paws and when he pulls the trigger his motion is so compact and quick that there isn't much of that vulnerable window where the arm is back and the ball is exposed. I've watched his highlights before but never noticed until now. Check it out: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QYRCkpnnlIs

49ers: ''Levi's Stadium''
Webster Guy replied to \GoBillsInDallas/'s topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
its just a cheesy sellout. this is the NFL not nascar. if levi's offered you 10k to tattoo their logo on your forehead would you do that? gotta draw the line somewhere...... i guess i'm just old school when it comes to keeping the history and dignity of the sport separate from all the annoying advertising. its kinda sad to see. "here we go kids, welcome to the go daddy college bowl game....what a tradition ! -
49ers: ''Levi's Stadium''
Webster Guy replied to \GoBillsInDallas/'s topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
stadium naming rights are idiotic. candlestick park was awesome, and helped defined the home field experience. welcome to loserville san fran. you just joined the laughable lucas oil, tostitos fiesta bowl fraternity of selling out tradition to smear corporate logo feces all over the place. i'm sure that check from Levi's will get put to good use, lord knows the NFL owners are hurting for money these days. -
Lee Evans had a significantly higher points per game average than Moulds. Like 20% better. Moulds averaged about 4.5 yards more per game than Evans. For part of his career Moulds had a pro bowl caliber #2 receiver on the other side of the field in Peerless Price, and a pro bowl QB throwing to him in Bledsoe (who ranks 5th in the NFL for all time completions). Evans never had either. Moulds head coach Marv Levy didn't play much as a rookie, which stunted his growth a little bit. Evans was on the field from day 1. They both were durable and made some unbelievable catches in their careers. Moulds was probably a better blocker just because of his T.O. type body, but I don't know that for sure. I don't think it's as much of no brainer as people think. If receivers jobs are to get in the endzone, you go with Evans. Moulds was more feared and more intense. Great work ethic for both guys, and great teammates. I'd probably go with Moulds because his voice sounded exactly like Apollo Creed's. "let's go Stallion....."

yeah. I watched the Red Sox win the world series in 2004 with a good friend who is a lifelong BoSox fan. His dad and even his grandfather were fans for life, and they had never seen their team win a championship. Ever. It was an unbelievable event to witness that night when they broke an 85+ year dry spell. Their reaction on the phone talking to each other when the last out was made, and listening to them talking about what it meant to them was so much more profound and intense than a yankee fan or a patriots fan seeing their team win the grand prize. So the pure odds are you win an NFL championship 1 in every 32 years. That's about 2.5 per lifetime. Thanks to scotty norwood we got our 0.5, so i'm ready for my first full point. then i'm good for three decades....

Yeah the kool aid is flowing so I'll spike the punch a little more.......... We have a young new innovative NFL head coach and OC We had our pick of any college QB in the nation and we got the guy we wanted We have a new Defensive Coordinator who is proven in this league We have CJ Spiller and they don't Our #2 receiver Robert Woods is going to be an NFL force Dareus is going to come back with a vengeance this year Solid special teams, faster defense, younger and stronger overall. Plus our rookies can party like nobody else....... Luckily they'll have Stevie Johnson to show them how to mature and take life seriously. If you don't think our team is going to be fun, you're nuts.

Who would you place at all time best LB?
Webster Guy replied to Jim in Anchorage's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I think Patrick Willis is the best in the nfl today. OLB career gotta say derrick thomas and LT Inside I'd take Ray Lewis and Urlacher All time Bills Best single season I'd say paup, biscuit and cowart had that monster season before the achilles.
