Roll Call: Jealous of the Colts for having Andrew Luck
Webster Guy replied to Boludo's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I was one of the ones who really liked Gabbert. Wasn't that sold on Blackmon though. Its starting to get disheartening when we have entire drafts that don't produce even ONE great QB. Watching guys like Cam Newton and Vince Young that look so dominant in college come to the NFL and lose their touch. Then there are the guys like Aaron Rodgers and Drew Brees who are elite throwers and were there in the mid to late round to be scooped up. There are a few historical exceptions, but if you have an average QB (or worse) you're not going to win a championship. The Colts are so lucky to be in the position they're in. -
Assuming a loss to the Pats.....
Webster Guy replied to 8-8 Forever?'s topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I'm with you. We all know Fitz isn't the real deal. T-Jack led his team to the playoffs last year and can't be any worse or inconsistent. What are we waiting for, an arm transplant for fitz? "Losing in a different way" is a great way to put it. We have nothing to lose, except the game, which we're going to lose anyway. At least help the team by learning more about what you have. TJ Graham might be a stud, but we'll never know because we can't throw the ball past 10 yards. -
Demetress Bell's play killing Eagles
Webster Guy replied to DisplacedBillsFan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I actually started feeling really bad for Bell because Gruden was hammering him and the camera guys stayed on him and the poor bastard couldn't do anything right. False starts, illegal downfield on a screen, getting turnstiled in protection-- all in prime time on Monday Night Football. Funny because I remember his issue being health, not skills. Tonite was the opposite, he killed his team by being on the field.... -
Bill Polian on what it takes to win
Webster Guy replied to LiterateStylish's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
The Patriots had number 2 and 3 last year and they went 13-3 and went to the Superbowl. -
This **** is absolutely mind numbing
Webster Guy replied to Mike in Syracuse's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Gailey should be the OC and we need a head coach to make the tough calls like trying 4th down conversions and managing clock. -
And the reason we lost today is....
Webster Guy replied to Virgil's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Exactly. Going into the Texans house and playing conservative football as 10 plus underdogs is a joke. Chan would be such a great Offensive Coordinator, if only he had a head coach like Reid or Tomlin or Harbaugh to handle the rest...... -
Game Day thread @ Houston: Our Season in One Game
Webster Guy replied to TakeYouToTasker's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Chan not going for both 4th downs in texans territory is a joke. What does he think we can win with field goals all day as massive road underdogs? Gimme a break Chan, you need to inspire your team to better play, not the other way around. Playing not to lose is so Jauron-esque. Start playing to win and taking a few chances wimpy...... Chan's a good play caller but a horrible game manager. Even something as simple as screwing up that last time out before the half so that we had to kick off AT ALL is simple stuff. The disadvantage of having your Offensive Coordinator and Head Coach the same guy. Sometimes it's fine, but sometimes it kills you. -
If you mean a restructuring of his contract when he loses the starting job I agree.
-
Chan will be back. He's a good coach according to Nix and I agree. If Mario, Dareus, Shep and George Wilson would have played half as good as they should be playing we would have a winning record right now. Its easy to point fingers at the coaches, but I think it's the lack of defensive talent that we have that's costing us games. I'd give Chan one more season after this.

Jason Cole rips Wanny on Howard Simon show
Webster Guy replied to Buffalo Barbarian's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I think this might have more to do with it than people think. My friend Brian Kozlowski from Webster played more than a dozen seasons in the NFL for the Giants, Falcons, and the Skins. He said if you feel like you're getting outcoached or that you were out-prepared by the other team, it becomes obvious on the field and creates apathy immediately. He said pro athletes are the same as anybody--if you are working hard but your boss is inept or lazy or both, then you start to not care as much. You still show up and you still work but there's a huge difference. On the other hand, I'm inclined to think that if you line up the best 11 guys your GM has given you on defense and your opponent simply hands off and runs straight at you and you can't stop them from moving the chains time after time, it's not the DC's fault. Pass pressure and coverage stuff is different, but flat out NOT stopping the run when you know it's coming means you don't have the skills on the field. -
Minnesota defense was on the field all night because Ponder couldn't complete a pass. The way to beat Minny is double Harvin and 8-man the box for AP all game. Just what Tampa did. That Martin kid is a stud. Great drafting by Tampa to trade down a few and still get Barron (taking advantage of Jax worrying Dallas would take Blackmon at 6) then trade their newly acquired 4th pick and 2nd round pick to move back into the first round (31st) and grab the next Jones-Drew before the Giants could grab him at 32. Now THAT"S a front office. I thought that Tampa coach was a douche after the BS he pulled against the Giants at the end of the game when NY was taking a victory snap to run out the clock and Tampa came plowing through the line. He had some cheesy answer like 'well, the last I heard you're supposed to play until they tell us the game is over...." Reminded me of Gregg as a new head coach, arrogant and desperate. But after watching him last night interact with his players and seeing him encourage Roscoe after his fumble, I've changed my opinion of the guy.

I'm not saying Marcell is a bust but...
Webster Guy replied to jamestown-cuse's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
There were some mocks that had him going first overall for awhile there. He had a big impact last year in my opinion. He will be fine, he's just off a bit for obvious reasons. Von Miller, JJ Watt and AJ Green are probably the top three impact players after 22 nfl games. If we had a time machine we'd probably take Watt -
Me too but he had some injury issues and I think that hurt him. In hindsight we shouldve definitely taken him, signed Flynn QB instead of Mario, and signed Tarvaris Jackson in the offseason. I think Flynn and Jackson would've both beaten out Fitz in camp had they started from day one and we would be in a whole lot better situation than we are, both in depth and salary space.

The Bills will be good when... (your answer here)
Webster Guy replied to Turbosrrgood's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
We currently have a QB who will NEVER rise above a mid 80's passer rating. He simply isn't physically capable of doing so. We need a front office who will admit that, and put more resources into getting a competent QB. They also need to take risks and sacrifice picks in order to trade up like Washington did (or we could have done w Miami for Tannehill 2 spots ahead of us) I'm not saying guys like Dalton and Tannehill, who were "gettable" guys, are the answer, but absolutely nothing has a higher priority than the QB in my book. I'd rather have the worst defense in the league and a great QB than the other way around. -
How can our defense be this bad??
Webster Guy replied to ChanOverChin's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
The worst part of it is that Mario is getting $50M in guaranteed money. Its gonna hurt us for many years to come. Levitre, Byrd, Spiller/ Wood in a few years. Gonna be tough to pay these guys -
BUDDY NIX! [asleep at the wheel!]
Webster Guy replied to thewildrabbit's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Totally agree with Fear the Beard. I've always been amazed at how coaches and GM's will stand there and defend their system despite it being obviously ineffective. In our case we have one of the worst defenses in the history of the league. What about rushing just 3 and dropping 8 on all third downs? If you can't get to the QB with 4 then either send 5 or 6 and get to him, or send 3 and drop another guy into coverage. If this were a company and I were the president I would demand that things change until I'm proven wrong. These guys seem so clueless, -
Marcel Dareus [is a no show]
Webster Guy replied to Wagon Circler's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Thats what I thought too. Man if my brother got killed I would dedicate the season to him and become a wrecking ball out there every Sunday. He was so good last year, so he knows how to get it done. I think he is a team player and a good kid who will get back on his feet soon and start getting serious about improving. -
The Bills need to accept the fact that they cannot get pressure with four guys and they can't cover very well with 7. They should drop 8 and rush 3 far more often than they do. Hey if you're not going to get to the qb anyway, then put another safety on the field to roam and to double team. Then every once in awhile bring 5 or 6 and keep the offense guessing. Wanny's refusal to shake up this defense is maddening. We are getting embarassed every week now with the massive yards and points given up. What in the world do we possibly have to lose by trying some different looks?
-
Ralph needs to step in, or at least be pushed in by his nurse. We have one of the WORST all time NFL defenses and a head coach that feels it will actually hurt our team MORE if we make a change at defensive coordinator. For the sake of the fans, something has to be done. We are going to set an all time season record for points against in a 16 game season.

Two huge mistakes by Gailey at the end
Webster Guy replied to Wagon Circler's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I totally agree. Did he really think we were going to stop them from scoring TD's on us? The 2 point was an easy call and should have been made Dungy said the same thing. Only getting six there is the same as getting seven, it still does you no good. -
any new quarterback, be it a rookie in the league or a backup guy that gets a start after a few years holding the clipboard, proves himself after about 6-10 games or so in the NFL. that's about the time that their weaknesses get exposed and teams learn how to defend the guy. I call it the Flutie Factor Great backup, will absolutely kill you if you don't have a chance to gameplan for him, but after a handful of games as a starter under the microscope the defensive coordinators start to understand you as the gamefilm piles up. At that point you can tell what you have, but not before then. I will say that it sucks that Miami beat us twice last year and we had identical records but they still picked two spots ahead of us. Genius system you've got there Roger........
