  1. Chin up. We're 0-1. 15 more games to go in the regular season. Keep your faith.
  2. You're talking about gambling tackling someone a few yards inside the 20 vs the threat of someone taking it all the way back on you. We just gave up a special teams punt return TD, we obviously are a risk on kickoffs too. It's a math game. Every team in the league tries to crush the kickoff deep for a touchback because the special teams coaches have looked at the average returns and the numbers support kicking it through the endzone and guaranteeing a long field for the other team.
  3. I completely disagree. Stopping the run means not giving up any big runs, and hammering their runners for short gains. That was the best I've seen us play against the run in years. The number of attempts was so high because they were eating clock with a big lead. Greene got bottled up every play, Tebow was 5 carries for 11 yards.
  4. Roscoe can play the slot. You know he's in game shape.
  5. Very true. That was a huge play too, we needed that stop for some confidence.
  6. This opener went exactly the way Sully wanted. His article "Grim news..." is classic Jerry doom and gloom. He makes it seem like Nelson was a big play number 2 guy. I love Nelson and I'm sorry he's hurt but lets face it, he averaged 3.8 catches and 40 yards a game last year on a team that slings the ball 30 times a game. Sully makes it sound like there are no other guys that can come in and match that modest production. And I love how he throws in that he wouldn't have taken Spiller 9th overall. So here we are with our starting back out, CJ steps in and averages over TEN yards a carry against a tough run defense on the road. Jerry's still stuck on where we drafted the guy and he wants you to know it. He must have some kind of tenure over there at the Buffalo News, its amazing that somebody pays that guy for his thoughts.......
  7. Lb's did surprisingly well. Leodis is hot n cold like a lot of cornerbacks are. He'll redeem himself next game. Same with Mario. The knock on him was consistency, but he'll come around. Its a good thing we drafted Gilmore Cordy Glenn did very well for a rookie LT on a road start against a complex defensive scheme Maybin was inept and useless out there, so that's satisfying in a small way CJ was the best player on the field Jets O line was unbelievable in pass protection. We have KC at home next week.
  8. Interesting quote from a fantasy football website tonite Re: Fred Jackson: He should start off the season on a tear, but he is 31. Emmitt Smith, Curtis Martin and Thomas Jones... those are the three players that played elite fantasy football at 31... that's it. Is Freddy Jackson really going to be the 4th in fantasy history? Guess how many fantasy studs have played elite fantasy football at 32? Zero. 31 is the cutoff, and again, I'm not banking on Freddy being the 4th to enter the club. This means that the CJ Spiller show begins at some point this season - Get your tickets early!I'
  9. I think a few people didn't realize you posted originally at 330 am so when your post said Today they thought you were talking about tonite (sat) Oh well. You were referring to Friday night. For what it's worth I think Barnett was the best FA pickup we've had here in a long long time. Good value, great production and its nice to hear he's a down to earth guy. Along that same line, I got a chance to hang around CJ Spiller one night here in Canandaigua at the Inn on the Lake. He was there with a Bills front office guy (Ron somebody, also very nice) hanging out by the lake at a place called the SandBar after playing a golf tourney in the area. Super nice, all smiles, very patient with all the attention he was getting and the endless cell phone pics. We talked a lot about college ball because it was the day they announced the playoff system is coming to college. Come to think of it, I don't think there are any standout jerks on this Bills team at all.
  10. Our Dline will be wearing white with sanchez crimson
  11. I much prefer Thursday over monday night anyway. Pretend you had never heard of monday night football and you got to choose which evening to have a night game on. The very last day anyone would pick is monday. Beginning of the week, the day after you just watched 6 hours of football. MNF is almost as stupid as having the superbowl late sunday nite when the weekend is over and its a work/school day tomorrow. One NFL game on Th or Fri makes perfect sense and represents the logic I've been wanting from the league for awhile. Now lets move that superbowl to Saturday at 5 and watch everyone say Gee that was nice......
  12. collingsworth seemed to think they did fine. I wouldn't worry. That one pass interference call on the cowboys safety covering that TE in the end zone was iffy. The pick that Cruz ran in the 1st quarter was a pretty big miss because it happened right at the line and probably would have been called by a more experienced NFL ref.
  13. The teams are pretty even. We haven't beat the Jets in a long time. Both coaches aren't afraid to run different looks and plays that will make it an interesting game to watch (unlike the Giants Cowboys coaches last night zzzzzzzzz) We have a better D-Line, they have better linebackers We have better special teams, they have better corners We have a better offense, they have a better defense We have an offensive minded head coach, they have a defensive minded one We have better runners, they have home field advantage We have a rookie LT, they have a weak RT on Mario all game You will have fun at the game either way because it will be close and exciting. I think the NY crowd can hurt their own team if they turn on them and the boos start raining down and the Tebow chants start when Sanchez struggles. I think the team leading at half will win the game. My prediction is Freddy and our TE Chandler have big days, McKelvin gets a pick six, BIlls win 19-17. What Bills jersey are you wearing? I'll send you my Maybin one for free..........
  14. LMAO..... funniest post of the year
  15. Actually I think Kelsay is strong at contain, sniffing out screens early, not overcommitting, keeping the edge, finishing plays. Sounds like he struggled there against the Jets but I would worry more about his pass pressure than his open field play. That's always been his best attribute.
  16. That's all we need, a 6 foot 1inch TE. We already have a great fullback that knows our offense well, is a special teams force and a first rate blocker. We have a great slot receiver in Nelson (or Jones has experience there). And does anybody really think this dude runs a 4.40? No freakin way. TJ Graham doesn't even run that and I guarantee if you line those two up in a footrace TJ smokes this dude. Sorry to be a downer- its not my style usually-but I'm kinda getting sick of the Chan/Buddy love for the "guys that can do everything" (aka brad smith) This isn't college ball where versatility means something, it's the NFL and you can only play one position at a time. I liked the video and Dorin seems like a great guy, but what ONE thing does he do better than anybody at their position. Run routes? block? Sorry but I'd rather have had Hagan or Namaan for depth, or even picked up the best available LB prospect out there..... Good luck Dorin I hope you score a dozen touchdowns buddy.
  17. haha well said. He's a pretty good receiver though, I'm not surprised other teams are looking at him. I would have thought he and Namaan would be ahead of Ruvell Martin on the bills big board, but I guess not.
  18. Insurance just in case Moats can't handle Keller in coverage. Wanny knows stopping Keller is a huge key to the game.
  19. He held out all of training camp as a rookie who really had a small body of work in college. It hurt the team, showed his selfishness, and hurt his already weak skills. 4 forced fumbles is impressive. 6 garbage sacks are not. The stat you forgot to mention is the liability such a light LB brings to your defense, and how many yards the opposition gains on plays he is on his back or pushed upfield. We cut him, and the Jets cut him once already too. I don't agree that he'll be a factor on any NFL team.
  20. Brad Smith is a scrambling qb that gets direct snaps from our center once in awhile on 3rd and short. We call it the wildcat but unless you throw the ball, or present the threat of throwing to keep the defense guessing, its just a direct snap. As of today, nobody is going to watch film on Brad Smith running the wildcat and think he's going to throw. They will put 8 or 9 in the box and jam the lanes to stop him. But he's patient and pretty sneaky and did well on conversions last year. I think someone posted he was around 60% conversion percentage. Chan will use him in this way early in the season, but I believe he'll also direct snap to Freddy and Spiller (like he did in the Pitt game) and make an assessment as to whether or not Brad is a better short yardage runner than....well...... our runners. If Fitz gets hurt, Thigpen would go in, then Tarvaris, THEN Brad. I think if Brad doesn't convert 3rds better than Fred or CJ he won't see the field much at all the rest of the year.
  21. Not bad if you have another group sitting somewhere else in the stadium that want a switcheroo at halftime. You can see some of the plays fine, but definitely tough on the kids or shorter people because everyone stands like K-No said, I had row three seats against NE once and there can be cool plays that seem right in your face like passes, punts, etc. My kid couldn't see anything but he liked watching the players and just looked up at the screen during most plays (like half the people in the stadium do anyway)
  22. Great guy, class act, intelligent leader, good motivator for those that were open to his style of coaching. I think if Parcells had our team in those superbowl years we have several rings to show for it. In a way Marv was sort of along for the ride, In most cases Marv (and Marchibroda) had no idea what play Jimbo was going to call next, They were just like the rest of us fans watching a great no-huddle offense stacked with talent roll over opposing defenses. Marv decided when to go for it and when to punt or try a field goal--simple stuff. He called a few timeouts but Jimbo called most of em. When Marv said they wouldn't have drafted Patrick Willis even if SF didn't that was the kicker for me. Bad GM. He might have taken his character thing a little too far.
  23. against us next week on offense it will be Keller if his hammy is ok. 65 catches last year, over 800 yards. We havent been able to stop a decent TE in a long time. I think George Wilson is the only guy that can cover him, maybe Barnett. If they line him up against Moats he better have help.
  24. Actually when Brady went down they didn't make the playoffs.
  25. That's a classic example of downstate football reporting "a modest 79.5 yards average" That would put you at 1272 yards receiving for the season. Only 8 receivers in the NFL topped that mark last year. Then again, not many people from Jersey understand the word modest........
