Did the Bills really reach for T.J. Graham?
Webster Guy replied to Damond Talbot's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Please let the season start. These are the threads that make me wish my Stadium Wall addiction wasn't so bad..... Graham may end up a far better pro than Wilson -
Description of the current Bills Offense
Webster Guy replied to Trader's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Well we were in the top half of the league in total rushing and top half in total passing last year with a beat up O-line, receiving corps and QB. We had a fill in center and by the end we were grabbing any decent receiver available off the wire. Our RB was on pace to win the NFL rushing title and possibly the all purpose yards title as well. I'm not saying we're an elite offense but we can move the ball. With a better defense and some more situations where we are playing with the lead instead of catch up, this years offense might surprise you. So my current description of the Bills Offense is well coached, strong running game, average passing game. -
Game 1: Bills versus Jets
Webster Guy replied to hondo in seattle's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
The way Stevie looked against Pitt he is not even close to ready to play any NFL game much less against the best corner in the league. Rex will play 8 in the box and force the throw. They were ranked 13th against the run last year, not dominant but good enough. With a rusty Stevie/Fitz I think the game will be decided by the Chandler, Nelson, Jones trio and how well they can move the ball. Tebow doesn't scare me at all. We shut him down last year I expect the same. Low scoring game Bills win 16-10 -
most exciting punt return man ever
-
Nice post LS. Looking at the chart and it's conclusions I can't help but think Pete Carrol is going to look like a total idiot if his shiny new QB either doesn't pan out or gets hurt and they struggle with no competent backup. Jackson may not know this yet, but with coach Lee and Gailey plus Fitz and Brad Smith ( and possibly Thigpen) to help him, he just put himself in an excellent learning environment with some cool people. I feel a lot better about our backup situation

"Mayhem" Interview
Webster Guy replied to You herd it hear last's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Exactly. He's such a scammer. I really think he was juicing for the combine and misrepresented himself enough to have our scouts and GM believe he was better than Orakpo. A huge swing and a miss by the Bills that really hurt this team. If we miss on a first rounder like Mike Williams or Whitner I still wish them the best when they leave, but Maybin is a lowlife in my opinion. He held out all of training camp on top of it. A classic MeFirst guy and a perfect Jet. Even if they already cut him once. -
Annoying "NFLSpeak". Mine is "no question".
Webster Guy replied to OCinBuffalo's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Haha good job fellas. Here's mine> 1. Anything that comes out of Russ Brandon's mouth. "It's NORTH of a million dollars" "It's a committee draft, but Buddy has complete autonomy" You sound like such a Dbag Russ. 2. Bruce Smith faves "It's water UNDER the dam right now" or "we played astronomically" (both lines in the same interview by the way) 3. The National Football League. Someone else mentioned this already. Dude just say NFL. Major offenders Cris Carter, Jim Kelly, Gregg Williams, Tom Jackson. you sound like idiots guys. 4. Using the word "Particular" in front of everything to make yourself sound more sophisticated and esoteric. It's the ultimate weasel word. On this PARTICULAR play. In that PARTICULAR game. Just skip the word it adds nothing. 5. "having said that......" Oh God I want to kill coaches and ESPN guys when they use this phrase. If "particular" is a weasel word, then "having said that" is a weasel phrase. Yeah we just heard you say that, so you don't have to tell us that you just said it you jackass. 6. "and I'll tell you why" Kornheiser loves this one. Ok dickhead, just tell me why. You don't have to tell me that you;re GOING TO TELL ME. Just say it man. For god's sake just say it..... Okay I have a lot more but I'm flamin out boys.......... -
We have very little speed at WR
Webster Guy replied to Chris in Syracuse's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Jonesy gets separation, has a very fast playing speed and does the little things coaches like (blocking, hustling, finishing his routes) Nelson has great hands and gets open Chandler is an excellent TE Stevie is a top notch producer. Fitz has enough targets. Graham isn't going to change a lot for us simply because we only will go to him a few times a game. it's the same offense as last year only we're healthy right now. I think we have good sized, experienced receivers that can rack up yards for this team. Worry about the linebackers dude, the receivers are fine. -
The Bills have Brad Smith simply because he generates so many posts on this message board it keeps the fans passionate and involved. Its a conspiracy I tellya........... On a serious note, the dude DID complete over 800 passes in college and I am guaranteeing a throw out of the wildcat in the first 5 times we run it. It should be noted that Vince Young is AT LEAST equal the runner that Brad is. Oh and he is a 2 time NFL Pro Bowl quarterback. No matter what Brad or coach Lee say about the "nuances" of the wildcat, I would rather have Vince run it if we insist on keeping it in the gameplan.

And the search for the Bills MLB begins
Webster Guy replied to Hapless Bills Fan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Uh Yeah I followed every second of the draft. I never said we had a chance at drafting him, only that I wished we had him. When Miami took Tannehill I thought Panthers were going Coples and we had the Keuk. Reminded me of the time we were one pick away from Patrick Willis and the niners grabbed him. -
And the search for the Bills MLB begins
Webster Guy replied to Hapless Bills Fan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
sorry but i wish we had Keuchly over Gilmore. Ron Brooks and Rogers couldve been enough for us. I think Carder will slide into that spot midseason. If Shep cant play then Buddy's drafting record takes another hit. Dammit. -
Annoying "NFLSpeak". Mine is "no question".
Webster Guy replied to OCinBuffalo's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
"Ray Rice is the best running back in the NFL and 'let me tell you why' " (Mark Schlereth, Lee Corso are the greatest offenders) The phrase "and let me tell you why" drives me crazy. Just tell us "why" without saying you're going to "tell us why". -
great post

This is my biggest problem with the guy too. He has his funny moments and I still listen to the show because I'm such a big Bills fan I'll take anything, but he is clearly burned out and truly comes across like he is there for the paycheck only. Putting a guy on the radio that has no enthusiasm is pretty ridiculous. He would be far better covering hockey on a national level and not just for one team, so he could be in a sport he cares about and always be talking about winning teams. He has a good radio voice/personality and makes good points but he's the wrong guy to be doing Buffalo Bills radio. Plus he's moodier than most chicks I know.......

I like the optimism, for those of you that prefer that over doom and gloom. The team is fun to watch for me, and that's all I care about. Frankly I think Buddy has done better in free agency with guys like Barnett, Chandler and Mario than he has with drafting. His first draft was brutal, last year's looked better but Dareus was a no brainer and after that I'm just not sure yet. Talent evaluation is very difficult and luck is a huge part of the process. I like the way he makes decisions though. Chan was a great hire in my opinion. The only knock as far as team management goes was signing Fitz to a mega deal when we were on a hot streak. It was like buying a stock at its highest point because you're excited and desperate to own a winner. If he had been more patient the deal would have been a little more fair to the team and the cap, and signing Levitre and Wood and some of the other upcoming guys might be impossible to do because of it. I really like Fitz,as a team leader and a person, but he's a 75-80 career passer rating guy and probably got 30% more than what was fair for his skillset. So I wouldn't say thanks for building a winner yet, but I would say the guy is doing his best and seems to have us on the right track. Now we just need to start the season with a win,

Aaron Williams Criticism?
Webster Guy replied to Johnny Hammersticks's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Dont worry about AW's tackling or jamming receivers, he's great at both. I think all corners ball skills are a little rusty in the summer. Brooks might creep in front of Aaron as the season goes on, but right now he's in front. Great hitter on special teams too. -
I just re watched it. Kept my eyes on Cordy every play, as I think he is the key to this season for us. Thought he played better than Hairston over there, definitely good enough to start. Rex is going to stack his side and throw everything they have at the rook to confuse and frustrate him. The second penalty Cordy got was a mistake by the ref in my opinion, he didn't screw up the snap count anyway and that's good. Agree about Shep being a concern, very interested in how he rebounds from a weak showing and plays a full first half with the ones next week. He's got the film on himself and it's not pretty, so here's hoping we get that straight in the next 21 days. Brooks, Rogers, Williams and Gilmore. All young and talented corners. Not worried about that. Moats is looking more comfortable over there. I know we've moved him around a lot already but has anyone considered moving him inside? He's the same size as Shep 6'2 250. He sheds blocks better. I don't know how hard that transition is but I wonder if that ever crossed Wanny's mind. Tank Carder is going to make this team, I wonder if he can push Shep for that spot. C'mon Shep don't let us down man......

The good news is that Tebow is a lefty and his blindside is now Super Mario against Hunter. Not sure how much they are going to play Tebow, but either way the Jets will have a TE helping all game with that matchup (running backs can't handle Mario) which means they will need to keep 6 on the line against our front four. That leaves 7 Buffalo Bills to fly to the ball. If we can score some points early and play with the lead, put Sanchez in a position where he has to sling it and we keep the pass rush on him, that Jets crowd will be booing them all the way to the tunnel at half because you know he'll throw some picks. I'll be cracking my 3rd beer at about that time, and when the Tebow chants start and the boo-birds are chirping I'm gonna turn up my TV and hold my hand to my ear just like the Grinch did when he heard the singing from WhoVille. And my heart (like Rex's waistline) will grow three sizes that day....... I'll pet my dog Max and settle in for a fun 2nd half ass whoopin of the Jets that I've been waiting years for. And I'll call my bookie who was too slow to grab the 5.5 spread and tell him I want my $200 right away cuz I'm going to Longhorn for a bigass steak and a glass of cab. This shall be my Sunday.......

Jets' "offensive" offensive personnel
Webster Guy replied to eball's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I like Rex and Sanchez as people, but I cannot stand their fans and most of their players. Tebow tried all his crap against us last year and we shut him down, I expect an exciting but low scoring game this time. I agree that Keller is dangerous and Moats isn't known as a cover guy so they will probably attack that matchup (motion away from Barnett, who covers well). I can see George Wilson having a monster game in coverage support there, and as a Tebow spy. Mangold is a stud but he cant block Kyle AND Marcell both so...... Hey these guys beat us twice last year, and we are starting a rookie LT against an aggressive blitzing D, but if we can win this opener we will be favored in the next two games against CLE and KC. Fitz will have to sling some long balls or expect the usual Rex 8 in the box. In order to do that he needs time to step up and into his throws which means Cordy is a huge key to this game. TE's and RB's can only help so much in pass protection, the rook needs to represent in a big way for us..... -
Wildcat: I just threw up in my mouth.
Webster Guy replied to MikeSpeed's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Exactly. There is no "extra" blocker people, and we threw once out of it (for an interception). The way WE run it, Its simply a spread formation direct snap to a backup qb who scrambles for short yardage. I know Chan knows a thousand times more about nfl offenses than me, but I would love to see the average yardage gained by a hundred brad smith wildcats vs 100 fred jackson direct snaps. Not to mention fumble risk between the two. I hate it man. Just because something works sometimes doesnt mean its your lowest risk, best play to call. I get that Brad is an amazing athlete but he's not our best runner. -
D.Bell demoted to second team in Philly
Webster Guy replied to Max997's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Actually......"Bell signed a five-year deal worth $34.5 million but it included only $2 million in bonus money and a modest $1.15 million 2012 base salary, so the Eagles could get out of the deal fairly painlessly if they want." That can't be right. The Bills felt he was above average when healthy, I'm surprised they wouldn't have offered him at least that much to re-sign with us. Heck that's dirt cheap for a decent NFL tackle. We pay Brad Smith more than double that number. -
The best part of the night was what we did to the jets
Webster Guy replied to cmjoyce113's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Our offense is exactly the same as last year except for TJ Graham and Cordy Glenn at LT. Its a lot to ask of either one of those guys to be game changers this year. The hope is that our Oline stays healthy and can run block like animals because our strength is our RB's. I would have liked for Cordy to get some running play blocks in to give him some experience and tape to watch but they're just trying to figure out the roster I guess. -
Yeah I hate when the "figured out" term comes out . Considering how bad our defense was and how banged up our offense was, in the last three games of the year Fitz still had over 300 yards against Miami and NE and we hung 40 points on the playoff bound Broncos in a game they desperately needed. If by "figured out" the author means teams started to press more and take away the quick routes that Fitz likes, New England was doing that from the first snap of the season. When we beat them.
-
They will always move the ball on offense as long as Brady is healthy. With two great tight ends that are fast and very tough to cover, I don't think it matters who is RB or WR, they will still be tough to stop. The biggest question is obviously on defense. They burned SIX straight draft picks this year on defensive players, including Chandler Jones DE from 'Cuse and LB Donta Hightower from Alabama, both first rounders. Although they aren't known for having great drafts (except for that one Michigan QB), if they hit home runs on both of those two guys it will hurt us for many years to come. If they turn out to be mediocre pro's (fingers crossed) then New England will be in for a lot of shootouts this year like they were last year, and teams will try smashmouth, ball control running to eat clock and keep their offense off the field. Like an earlier poster said, Peyton Manning showed everyone how much a great QB can make up for shortcomings. p.s. I'm sure she was a great lady, but that whole Myra Kraft thing last year started to get nauseating. Brady throwing a touchdown and pointing to his Myra sticker and then up to the sky..... really dude? They took that way over the top. If she was as cool as people say then she would've been embarassed at how much of a circus that became. Maybe I just hate the Patriots so much that I'm jaded......
