  1. I'm still not sure why this move even needed to be made given the pass rushes resurgence in recent weeks. Yes Lawson had a career year here in 2019, but he has a grand total of 5 sacks (including just one this year) since leaving Buffalo and playing for multiple teams (which is still somewhat a red flag too).
  2. As the saying goes, there's only 32 of these jobs in existence and regardless of the situation they'll be no shortage of suitors. But just like with mos first year HC jobs, pretty sure whoever land the Bears job gets the proverbial free pass in year one for the reasons listed here. Because can't imagine ownership believes this is a team and roster ready to win right away in 2022. This is why the Bears is probably the best fit for someone like Frazier that can lean on his defensive expertise and leadership to be competitive in 2022 while the roster is overhauled for a larger rebuild with an eye on the playoffs in 2023 and beyond.
  3. Confused is this PS or to the actual 53 man roster?
  4. If this team wins a SB this year I could see McDermott opting for continuity and 'in house' candidates to replace Frazier and/or Daboll. But considering the glut of proven big names out there (and that this team probably isn't winning a SB) it would be somewhat foolish to not pounce on someone from outside the organization who can add a fresh perspective and help get this team to the next level.
  5. He should get a chance to start again if anything because of two playoff appearances with a Bears team that was worse this year without him when everyone though QB was the main issue there. But you just never know in this league and there are a ton of other QB's in a similar situation looking for a chance to start again next year.
  6. If that happens that's pretty much a direct indictment that both Frazier and Daboll aren't very good then. Especially when guys like Brandon Staley and Robert Saleh were apparently such hot commodities and got gigs last year. Personally I do think Frazier deserves it and is on his way to a new job soon because of his body of work as a retread HC and what he has done in Buffalo on a defense that really doesn't have a true superstar player. Daboll on the other hand more dicey for all the reasons discussed on this forum daily, but if some believe he's the main reason for Allen's development and success that's all that matters.
  7. Would make zero sense to not do this given how erratic Allen and the offense has been the last few weeks at home, and everyone in the lockerrom knows what happened the last time the Pats played here (also a primetime game).
  8. If the Bills do lose Frazier to a HC gig, don't underestimate a potential Edmunds trade this offseason. In fact even if Frazier stays it could happen.
  9. If Daboll lands in Miami it's probably a no brainer that Trubisky ends up there to push Tua for the starting job and/or be waiting in the wings should Tua get hurt or have a short leash in 2022.
  10. Really surprised that Miami would dump Flores and turn around and show interest in someone like Daboll other than the Alabama/Tua connection.
  11. Usually is the key word, but never underestimate this coaching staff and their willingness to keep teams in games and crawl into a shell in big moments.
  12. Patriots will be a threat as long as Belichik is there and even though there's a lot of confidence in the Bills dispatching them on Saturday night they could easily win and make a deep run in the postseason. But at the end of the day I think Jones has hit a rookie wall and he'll probably need to a take another step next year for the Pats to truly be back in the conversation as the leagues elite.
  13. This is what people still don't get, if this keeps up Allen's career will be very short. And McDermott and Beane should understand this first hand since they were in Carolina when Cam Newton was on top of the world winning an MVP and leading a 15-1 team a SB. That was just 6 years ago when Newton was pretty much Allen's age now. Fast forward to 2022 and Newton is a 32 year old washed up, broken QB if anything because of the beating he took over a 5 or so year period when he looked near invincible with the same style of play.
  14. One thing you have to give credit to this coaching staff is they seem to maximize their roster and work everyone into the lineup. Unfortunately some times that means too much flip flopping on the inactive list each week or wasting reps on guys that just aren't cutting it, but it's nice to see guys like Doyle get some action after sitting pretty much the first 3/4 of the season.
  15. Weren't people making these same prognostications about this year's schedule? Things change drastically in this league year to year and a lot of the teams on the 2022 schedule are going to look very different in terms of HC, starting QB, etc. And if the Bills make a deep run again, or win it all there's a good chance this roster and coaching staff/front office may also look drastically different.
  16. Belichik obviously knows Daboll well from their time together in NE. Obviously the gameplan was excellent a few weeks ago but it took probably Allen's best game of his career to pull that out and overcome the late surge from Mac Jones and the Pats offense. The chances of Allen having that type of game again are the same as the Pats winning with their QB only throwing 3 passes like the first match. Either way I've always hate division game matchups in the playoffs because you can throw out the regular season and there have been many instances of teams getting swept by a division rival in the regular season only to win the 3rd matchup in the playoffs (TB/Brady were the last to do it against the Saints in the playoffs last year).
  17. It's not everything, but I suspect the players and coaches looked at Allen's jekyll and hyde play this year and believed he is not the main reason we've been successful and similar success could have been had with Trubisky playing with the #1 defense. I myself don't necessarily believe that but there have really only been a few games this year where you can single out Allen as the main reason we won.
  18. To me this validates their pro bowl status more than anything. Because when you look at the Ravens, they were sitting at 8-3 and the first seed in the AFC before Jackson got hurt. It's no coincidence their entire season cratered once he was out of the lineup. As for the Chargers, without Herbert that's probably a 4 or 5 win team this year. Lot's of pressure on Staley to get the playoffs next year or I suspect the Chargers will be looking for a new HC pretty quick.
  19. I'm worried and very concerned right now about a lot of things and it would be so Billsy for this team to exit the playoffs early with a top defense not being able to compensate for a woeful offense which just one year again it was the exact opposite. Just hope this entire coaching staff understands that any chance we have of making a serious run is an aggressive gameplan that doesn't involve wasting carries on Zack Moss and other gimmicky gadget crap that can lead to turnovers and big loss of yardage. Let Allen be who he was against the Pats a few weeks ago and feed singletary exclusively.
  20. Schedule on paper looks brutal right now but obviously a lot of these teams will look much different by the start of the 2022 season, including the bills. But all 3 division opponents will likely be very improved especially the Jets and Dolphins who still have a lot of draft capitol and cap space to work with. Definitely a lot of great primetime game candidates again though including another possible thanksgiving game in Detroit.
  21. I totally forgot that Frazier was part of that legendary 85 Bears defense, plus he did have his previous HC with the Vikings so lots of familarity with the division. Almost seems like the perfect match for both sides.
  22. Why so he can call the same QB draws and running plays to useless 3rd string RB's over and over?
  23. Yes of course, but it's not sustainable unless we only want a few more high level production type of years out of him before he goes the way of Cam Newton. Also I still think every time he takes off the greater the risk of a severe injury and/or turnover that costs the game. Just remember, the Allen we saw in 2020 was the guy everyone in the league was fawning over and why he got a record contract. And that guy was doing most his damage through the air.
  24. I'm in agreement with you about the playoffs being a fresh start. But in the back of my mind still very concerned about Allen and where his head is at. Something is just not right with him after such a great performance in NE and we all know we are going to go as far as he takes us no matter how good this defense plays.
  25. It's not crazy, Bease has been a great player for a long time going back to Dallas but he definitely is at the age and point of his career where he's probably going to continue to decline. I know some fans think McKenzie is better or some sort of easy drop in replacement, but I would question that if anything because outside of the Pats game where he clearly played out of his mind he hasn't show a lot in his career either. At the end of the day WR is a sneaky need and priority for this team heading into the offseason especially with the prospects of both Sanders and Beasely playing their last games whenever this playoff run ends.
