  1. The players and coaches that determine who is a probowl player, they certainly qualify as experts. They determined that Josh Allen is not one of the top 3 QB's in the AFC conference this year.
  2. Yes the point differential thing is ridiculous as well. It just goes to show that if the team who has won 10 games shows up in the playoffs we'll have a chance to do something. If the other one shows up then we'll be talking about next year shortly after. But at this point it's hard to have confidence this team is going to be consistent for 3+ straight weeks to make a serious run especially against other like teams and on the road for most of them.
  3. The bottom line is if you are going to pay a guy $250M dollars you better be damn sure he's an elite top 3 QB in this league and wins multiple SB's in the near term or it's makes zero sense to do that. The more logical thing is to aware someone after they have risen to the top like Mahomes. Mahomes was a league MVP in year two (essentially his rookie season since he only played the season finale his first year), won a SB in year 3 and made it to another in year four. I believe his deal came after year 3 which is fine. Experts in this league (not fans like us) felt Allen wasn't even the top 3 QB in his own conference this year, so again what does this say? But can you really argue with them after he craps all over himself in a game against a terrible Falcons team after having such a great performance the prior week? Also what accolades does he have other than one AFCCG appearance in that you can argue wasn't really on his shoulders (at least not the Ravens game). Again, this goes back to the point that Allen's contract was probably premature. But if he goes on to win a SB this year then case closed regardless of his stats and horrendous outings he had during the regular season.
  4. Hopefully politics don't decide this but it would be utterly stupid for CA to lose out on this type of opportunity, both financially and the real possibility that one of their home teams could be playing in this game. Bottom line is this covid thing is something we may be living with the rest of our lives so it's time to adapt and move on.
  5. I definitely see this team making changes at RB despite Singletary coming on strong of late, but it's likely going to be the same type of veteran signing we've seen in recent years (i.e. Gore/Breida/Yeldon) vs. a big name/contract type of signing. If not probably another mid/late round draft pick.
  6. It's not pointless. Yes the 2020 were great in one score games, but the 2021 is winless in them and that matters when looking and predicative analytics and trends. What is honestly more amazing and somewhat a statistical anomaly is the fact that all 10 of this teams wins have been by 12+ points. That's just absurd and shows the true jekyll and hyde nature of this team.
  7. Sorry been tied up with some things so I could respond sooner. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder, and again I'm not disputing Allen being in the upper 3rd of NFL QB's from a statistical standpoint. He is and only a fool would tell you otherwise. The crux of my argument is that you have to look at the accolades that matter (at least in terms of the 'experts') and prior to 2021 Allen had one good season on film which many felt (and still feel) was fluky because of the covid year circumstances. So if we are debating the fact that his extension was given on potential that's another thing, but in terms of being a proven commodity Allen really isn't yet unless he can elevate this team to another level in the playoffs and at minimum make another AFCCG appearance. But going back to my personal feelings, I'm still taking the guys I mentioned over Allen today because I'm not a biased fan and have seen more pure raw talent to believe they are going to be all time great HOF types that win multiple championships and/or elevate their teams. Allen could be too but still think the odds are against that if anything because of how inconsistent he still is 4 years into his career.
  8. Unless the Bills get to the SB this year, not taking care of business against the Steelers and Jaguars will come back to haunt this team in hindsight.Win both those games and they are in the driver seat right now for the #1 seed even with the head to head tie breaker in the Titans favor. Even in splitting those games they would have the tiebreaker over the Chiefs and ensure themselves two home games again like last year. The only silver lining with the Bills current situation is that they seem to be better on the road this year (especially Allen) which is the path they will have to take should they get to the SB.
  9. Phillips has been a good story this year but if push comes to shove and we have the chance to sign a more proven veteran DT vs keep Phillips for the same type of money I really hope this team does the smart thing and looks elsewhere or they are setting themselves up for the same type of crap again.
  10. Never according to some of the local Bills media talking heads (Joe B and Sal C)
  11. Considering I spent a good chunk of my life in the Buffalo area I hope so.
  12. So think about what Allen does on a regular basis, especially on Sunday against the Falcons and also consider why his recent extension wasn't very smart.....
  13. I feel much better about McDermott than I did a few weeks ago but the question remains whether or not he's truly a great coach or just a solid one. In a few weeks both McDermott and Allen have a chance to change narratives and write the next chapter of their respective legacies.
  14. Yes pretty much every year in Buffalo since they've had a pro football franchise.
  15. The cold hard reality is that there isn't going to be an 'easy' matchup for this team especially the way they play at home and not knowing which version of Allen shows up. And yes based on how the Raiders are playing they can easily come into Buffalo and win, and win decisively, as could the Pats and Colts for the 2nd time this year based on previous results. This is why unfortunately I still think there's a better chance of the Bills being one and done this year vs. making a run like last year. And hopefully the silver lining of the first scenario is wholesale roster changes and cleansing this roster of Panther castoffs once and for all.
  16. It does make sense, if you are looking long term I'm not taking Brady or Rogers over Allen right now because they both may be playing in their last seasons. If you are looking at pure potential I still think there are several guys that truly may end up HOF players compared to Allen. But if you want to lump everyone together than yes I'm not taking Allen over at least 5-7 other NFL QB's right now and why would anyone else based on comparitive body of work and overall ceiling?
  17. This team hasn't been dominant at home for years except for last year going 9-1 combined during regular season/playoffs. But in regards to Allen, this is another argument against him if you want to nitpick his contract and/or whether or not he truly belongs in the discussion among the leagues best. Even the Bradys and Rogers of the world don't go 8-0 at home every year but definitely need to see more 6-2 or 7-1 type of records at home consistently going forward or we have no real home field advantage.
  18. It depends on what factors you are looking at, obviously if you are talking long term I'm not taking someone like Brady or Rogers whose careers are about to come to a close even though their body of work is what we aspire Allen to be. But if we are talking current crop of young/mid career guys I'm at minimum taking Herbert, Mahomes, and Burrow over Allen if anything because of how I project them to be long term, one of them has already been to 2 SB's and has a ring obviously. It's also probably debatable where Allen falls in the current bucket of guys like Murray/Prescott/Carr/Jackson/Tannenhill/etc who have all had similar productive seasons as Allen from 20/21. Again it really boils down to if you believe Allen is the best QB in the league or will be in the next 3 or so years because that's how he was paid and the crux of my arguments.
  19. The point is that Allen shouldn't be making that money either, probably closer to the proposed $200 Jackson contract at best. But yes Jackson is 1-3 vs Allen 2-2 in playoffs thus far (Allen could move to 2-3 at worse come next week, but hopefully better). But Jackson does also have a league MVP trophy and multiple probowls under his belt. Either way pretty sure the Ravens are going to have to pay Jackson close to or better than Allen now that the Beane set that precedent.
  20. Yes this is a different perspective which I pretty much just acknowleged. It's not like Kelly was leading the league in passing every year the Bills made it to the SB, albeit a much different era. I guess my concern though is with so much money tied up in Allen he will truly need to carry the team some years when we aren't going to have some of the players we do now at key positions and/or lose other good players in FA. I'm really eager to see what this team does in the playoffs because they are either going to validate the theory that regular season doesn't necessarily matter or prove they are exactly what we saw, particularly in games against good physical dline/oline. But at the end of the day the Bills paid Allen to deliver in the playoffs, right or wrong.
  21. But the point is Allens 2021 production is not elite/top 3 in the league or conference. Allen needs to produce at 2020 levels or better the rest of his career and/or win a championship for it to be justified. Obviously most of us would take the latter if that's the case.
  22. This is what's debatable. For me (right now) Allen falls somewhere in the top 7 - 12 QB's in the league, so that's where you'd have to aggregate salary expectations. I get that Beane rolled the dice on this move, but it could backfire in a major way and bury this franchise if Allen peaked last year under the weird covid/empy stadium season and 2021 numbers may be the best we ever see from him again. I think what is also missing is that he has to move on from the type of games we saw on Sunday. You simply can't follow up a great performance against a playoff team with what he showed on Sunday against the Falcons which was a rookie type of outing. And all of the local/nation media have said the same thing which is all I'm saying as well.
  23. This is pretty much how I feel. While the current 3 game streak is a great feeling, this team has been wildly inconsistent all year and is going to be anywhere from one and done to possibly making it all the way to the SB. But I think winning it all is still a pipe dream given this teams inconsistency and glaring flaws that have been hidden depending on who we play, specifically on defense.
  24. This is just your opinion and conjecture, wishful thinking really. And that's fine obviously. But again, none of us really know that right now and if Allen pisses all over himself again in the playoffs like has in most other PO games except for IND the criticism will be magnified especially by the national media and expert talking heads, let alone fans on this forum.
  25. Because I don't engage in mindless idol worship over our starting QB and actually pay attention to what's happening around the rest of the league? What's hilarious is some of you obviously didn't just watch the same game I did where Allen had 3 INT's against the worst passing defense in the league and Nathan Peterman type QB rating and he was essentially shut down in the 2nd half in terms of the playcalling by Daboll/McD. Against even a mediorce team like the Steelers that's a loss, but that's right they already beat us too with Allen not playing well in that game either. Man some of you need to step back and simply be objective. Again Allen is fine, but he's not the guy some of you want to try so hard to believe he is....not yet anyway.
