  1. This isn't coming from me. Bease is at least the 3rd former player to speak out about this organization and/or the KC debacle, there's also others that spoke with Aaron Quinn anonymously who were mystified about how McD handled the 13 second situation and addressed the team afterword. I know some fans live in a state of denial and have already booked their tickets to Phoenix for the SB, but the reality of the situation is until this team does actually do something of note there are going to be lingering questions that need answered especially in regards to the alleged perfect culture/lockerroom under McD.
  2. If this offense falters this year it's likely going to be more about the OC change/playing a tougher schedule than losing Beasely. But at the same time still think a lot of fans are misguided in the belief that McKenzie or someone else on the current roster is going to be a drop in replacement or even better than one of the better slot WR's in NFL history.
  3. In some ways you can add Jerry Hughes to this list. In fact he was somewhat of a '2 year wonder' under Doug Marrone/Pettine/Schwartz totaling 20 total sacks his first 2 years here after we traded for him in 2013-2014. But from rest of his time here (7 seasons 2015 - 2021) he had only 32 total sacks and why it was long overdue to move on from him despite the misleading 'pressure rate' stats that have been thrown out there in his defense.
  4. Seems like Beasely is taking a direct shot at McD/Beane and indicating things aren't as rosy as the media and fanbase may perceive them. Don't understand all the hate thrown his way either especially since he's the one that asked to be traded/released. This isn't shocking though considering the stink from the KC playoff game is not going away anytime soon and the only thing that will truly negate it is a SB win. Also still think there is a clear and present danger for this season to end up being a major disappoint especially if this team gets off to a slow start given the brutal opening schedule.
  5. It's probably because of his smallish size, it helps with quickness but why he can't really finish and easily gets tossed aside by NFL lineman. Sadly reminds me a lot of Aaron Maybin and why he was a complete bust other than one season with Rex Ryan and the Jets when he had 6 sacks as an OLB/situation pass rusher. Bottom line is NFL DE's need both size and quickness.
  6. Donald was stud out of the gate and had 9, 11, and 8 sacks his first 3 NFL seasons. No sacks aren't always everything but it was clear he was truly a dominant player from day one and has continued to seemingly get better each year. Oliver could truly explode this year alongside Miller and a revamped dline but just don't think it's a valid (or fair) comparison at this point when talking about possibly the greatest DT to ever play the game and sure fire HOFer in Donald. Also have to consider McD and Frazier's rotational philosophy and no guy up front never really getting more than 60% of the snaps each game.
  7. True but these guys can't even stay on the field and don't believe injuries was a concern with either of them coming out of college and/or why they were drafted so late.
  8. This team has had some serious bad luck with late round receivers the last few years. Both Hodgins and Stevensons careers in Buffalo are probably going to be very short lived as a result.
  9. That's not what I'm saying at all. My point is why would KC/Mahomes/Reid fear a Bills team that have beaten in every meaningful game that matters? Obviously this could change if the Bills can ever beat them in the playoffs but until then they are still the better team no matter what the experts and fans think and KC knows this. I honestly don't know how the Bills stack up against the Bengals because they did not face them last year in the regular season or playoffs, but they made the SB and came within minutes of winning and the Bills exited in the 2nd round. Their head coach also has 2 road playoff wins in his postseason debut where McDermott has zero in 6 years with Buffalo. If they truly felt HIll was that crucial to their success (specifically Mahomes) they would not have let him go. Regardless as I alluded to in another thread, at some point every contender has to make tough decisions and since KC has already won a SB it lessons the blow to a certain degree. Still think Mahomes is going to be at the top of the MVP picture this year though and prove he's in a class of his own even after losing a star player like Hill.
  10. Depth is great in theory until you actually have to use it. If Poyer does miss extended time into the regular season we'll find out what we have in some of these younger guys real fast given the first few months of schedule which still looks very daunting at present.
  11. Way too early to truly think about overall seeding, but if I had to predict the playoff field from each conference today I'd probably go with the following: AFCE: Bills AFCN: Ravens AFCW: Chargers AFCS: Colts WC: Dolphins WC: Chiefs WC: Bengals NFCE: Cowboys NFCN: Packers NFCW: Rams NFCS: Bucs WC: Vikings WC: Panthers WC: Eagles
  12. The Chiefs are taking a hard line stance with a lot of these guys like Hill and Brown because they have already been to a few SB's and won one and they know their current window is shrinking because of Mahomes deal so they aren't going to hand out max contracts to guy they feel can be replaced and or sacrifice a few 'transition' type of seasons heading into the next window of Mahomes career. Bills are going to be a similar situation very soon and if they do win a SB this year you'll definitely see the true colors of a lot of players(and their agents specifically) in terms of wanting big pay days and new deals. In fact I still believe they have no intention of keeping Poyer beyond this season and know they are going to have to let Knox and/or Edmunds walk after this year as well.
  13. I really hope they trade Moss before the season starts because I could see us wasting a lot of carries on him again in hopes he finally shows something. IMO Singletary needs to be the lead back this year with Cook being a true compliment and/or featured back in passing game. And the fact this team was so determined to address RB in terms of a pass catcher makes me think they have already made a predetermined decision on Moss future with team.
  14. Hopefully this is foreshadowing a harsher punishment for Watson given the timing here. Also in regards to the Dolphins talk about a major momentum blow given all the hype coming of South Florida in recent weeks. They better hope Tua takes a big step or losing valuable draft capital could really hurt them next year.
  15. Well that sucks. This team has been very lucky with injuries for the most part the last few years (sans Tre White), almost an anomaly really but you wonder if that luck is finally running out and a regression to the norm is coming this year on the injury front. Either way might be time to tap the breaks on the SB hype vehicle in hopes of not jinxing this team any further.
  16. Also one thing that is not talked about enough IMO is McDermott's overall record against playoff teams which should give everyone pause given what this year's schedule looks like on paper. Even if his best season here during the weird 2020 covid year, we only played 5 playoffs teams that year and went 3-2 in those games (the only year he's also had a winning record in such games). And if you dig deeper in those games: W - Rams (blew a massive lead and got a fortuitous 4th down call in the closing minutes to comeback and win) L - Chiefs (were handled from start to finish in a game that truly was never close) L - @ Titans (This was the reschedule covid game and we were blown off the field) W - Seahawks (This was the 'AJ Klein' game and overall great performance, but seahawks team on decline) W - Steelers - (They lost 4 of 5 games to finish the year including this one before being routed by Browns in playoffs). Things will have to change dramatically this year for the Bills to live up to lofty expectations.
  17. It's silly to automatically assume Singletary is long gone after this year. But at the same time I get that assumption considering we just drafted another RB with a high pick and most teams never want to pay RB's big money in terms of 2nd contracts or FA deals.
  18. Bills will have a massive target on their back this year because of all the media hype and this honestly is a great thing for our rivals, both division and conference wide because guarantee teams like KC and CIN are loving it since all the attention and pressure isn't being thrown their way. Also guarantee neither of those lockerrooms consider the Bills a threat to them, at least KC anyway. But in regards to Miami, why wouldn't their fanbase be optimistic right now with a new offensive minded head coach and roster that is oozing with talent? Obviously they may get a major reality check soon like many other teams when the live bullets start flying.
  19. I think we are going to learn a lot about how valuable (or invaluable) Daboll was to JA17's development and this offense in the coming months. Because if Allen has any type of regression it will be easy to say it's because of Daboll's absence. Conversely if Daboll makes Daniel Jones look decent and the Giants surprise people this year he'll be considered a genius.
  20. I agree with this also, Bills were just a really weird team last year with every single win being by 10+ points and every loss except for the Colts game being within one score. Probably a good bet they don't have nearly as many blowout type wins this year either. Sadly though the analytics also said that teams that had the same DVOA as the Bills last year went on to win the SB and off course that didn't happen and the Bills own the distinction of being the only team in the NFL history to fail in that regard. Only problem with this is if you want this team to have a realistic shot at the SB or have the season end in the same fashion as previous years. McD is 0-4 on the road in the playoffs and history has shown he's not good enough to get over that hump. However to his credit he's also 3-0 at home in the playoffs and that's why it's crucial this team somehow figures out how to play consistent football all year and secure the #1 overall seed in the AFC.
  21. I disagree vehemently with the idea that this team is where they are because of McDermott because you take away Allen I really think they might even be a .500 team (or 8-9 with the current 17 game structure). But I will say that the idea that JA17 is already better than Jim Kelly is laughable, at least at present. If anything for the simple fact he has not led this team to a SB yet and needs to play with a more steady hand and show real consistently over a full season.
  22. Still think that even if White is back at the start of the season or shortly after he's not going to be the same player this year as injuries like this take a good full year to return to form. Hence the reason a quality veteran DB should still be this team's main priority right now.
  23. While I wouldn't object to adding another weapon, just don't think WR is a need at this point and any FA move left to be made should be for DB and/or IOL.
  24. 6 games seems like a complete joke and you almost expect Goodell and the NFL to stand pat and move on so this story can finally disappear (although it never truly will). In the end don't rule out karma and a serious injury happening to this scumbag who will not have played a regular season NFL game in almost 2 years by the time he takes the field after this suspension later this year.
  25. Sharp is raising valid points that all realistic fans should be concerned about entering the 2022 campaign: - Team was only 11-6 last year despite facing one of the easiest schedules ever in NFL history. They were also 3-5 at one point during mid season. - Only 2 wins against playoff teams last year including KC early in the season when they were in 'figure it out mode' and NE late in the season after they peaked - 0-6 in one score games including playoffs - #1 defense was highly misleading because of aforementioned schedule and QB's faced -McD's historical W/L record against playoff teams in regular season With that said, the Bills did essentially retool their entire defensive line once again to be able to counter a much more difficult schedule this year in terms of opposing QB's. They also addressed other key areas of need in G, DB, RB, etc. But still think at the end of the day getting #1 overall seed in AFC and 13+ wins like some of these projections indicate aren't probably as realistic as some believe.
