  1. Camp body type of signing. Because if he were to make this roster that means we aren't nearly as good at the position as some think. In fact I have no problem that we looked to bring in another veteran body at the position but should have been a different name with a more proven body of work at the position.
  2. IMO this is not a hot take as some might believe. Obviously JA17 looks to have risen to the ranks of the league's top 5 QB's/elite players. So by default he is now good enough to carry a roster with holes/deficiencies which I still believe is the case in Buffalo because I'm not nearly as sold on certain areas like DB and Oline compared to other faithful. But when you look at the talent that Miami has accumulated at worse they are probably on par with the Bills (not including QB). And they have some serious talent now across the board especially all 3 levels of defense and TE/WR.
  3. To be honest you can argue this oline is actually a downgrade on paper from last year and I think a lot of things are going to need to come together (quickly) for this oline to be considered more than a middle of the pack unit again. Because outside of Dawkins and Morse there are big time question marks IMO. And even with Morse there's still lingering questions about his concussion history and trouble against average or better DT's at times. Saffold is an aging vet on the decline but should still be average at worse barring injury. But the biggest questions marks could be on the right side with Bates still not truly being a proven commodity and Brown avoiding the dreaded sophmore slump that has seemingly plagued this teams draft picks in recent years. One thing I do know is hopefully Cody Ford is not on this final roster or it's begging for a disaster waiting to happen.
  4. Sometimes I don't know if this stuff is serious or not but yes I can think of at least 50 more popular (and accomplished) players. Fitz was a likeable guy, I get it. But he had no business being here as the starter for as long as he was nor should he have ever gotten a big contract extension here. He's not a HOF player and doesn't not deserve individual franchise recognition here. At the end of the day fans need to stop with obsessions over players like this. It's as bad or worse as the obsession over a freaking punter (Brian Moorman) which shows just how bad things were with this franchise during the drought years that players like this get a whiff of attention.
  5. It's still a bit premature to stay Tua has reached what ever ceiling he has in this league. He wasn't drafted in the top 5 just because he played on Alabama and was surrounded by future pro bowlers. The consensus belief is that he was a big part of why a lot of these other guys were successful and a blue chip prospect with franchise potential. It was expected for him to be a top 5 pick (even #1 overall before injury). JA17 on the other hand was drafted in the top 10 soly on raw talent and potential, not what he did in college which wasn't much obviously so no debating that part.
  6. Mahomes and Lamar Jackson both won MVP in their 2nd NFL seasons, although the former only played one game as a rookie. Mac Jones had one of the better rookie seasons in recent memory and was a legit MVP candidate at one point last year before the Pats crumbled towards the end of the season. So to say he can be a dark horse candidate this year is certainly not out of the realm of possibility just not as likely as some of the more bigger names in the current discussion.
  7. I doubt he really cares but he's right about twitter warriors and trolls who have nothing better to do that harass pro sports types unrelentlessly these days. Either way the guy knows that it's a make or break season for his career so the pressure is going to be tremendous for him to produce and take another step this year just like it was for JA17 in year 3.
  8. It honestly wouldn't even make sense for him to do this unless he truly cares about the Bills being his longest stop of all the teams he played for and the ill advised contract he was given here. Either way never heard of a backup/journeyman doing this especially one that's played for nearly a 3rd of the teams in this league.
  9. Not really shocking since there have been rumblings about this going back to last year when his injury ended up being worse than expected with Washington. If there was a HOF case to be made for a pure journeyman backup/fringe NFL starter he'd be a lock for Canton.
  10. Other people I know have told me this but I think it has to do with what level of service you have (i.e. one of the most expensive packages which we do) and your payment history (I've personally never been past due on a bill). At least this is information I found on a reddit forum where someone who claimed they worked for Directv posted this information. But the strategic haggling game is what I had to do prior to recent years as well and every time they would cave and give me a massive discount plus free Sunday Ticket. A few times it's been a bit extreme where I would call them on the first week of the month when I would get a new bill with all the expired credits off it. You want to immediately get to the loyalty department and bypass customer service. You do this by simply saying 'cancel service' on the automated phone prompts. Once you are there if you don't like the offer have tell them you are disconnecting your service but don't have it officially done until end of month/billing cycle. If they still won't bite just relax and move forward with this, then typically within a few days you'll get a call from their 'last line of defense' loyalty people who will offer you the farm to stay before they proceed with disconnecting service on said date. One year doing this I got free Sunday Ticket, $75 off in credits for a year, 6 free months of HBO and a $200 Visa Gift card. They probably won't offer anything close to that now though especially with Sunday Ticket leaving them.
  11. When you don't have a franchise QB it certainly is sadly.
  12. He was definitely playing at an all pro level last year when it mattered most and it's not talked about enough especially how bad he was in the first half of the season coming back from his covid struggles.
  13. This is also what I've seen on my bill the last few years. No emails but I believe I do get a letter from them in the regular mail right before the season starts letting me know I'm getting it a 'special gift'. Either way it's a benefit from being a loyal DT suscriber for many years and strategically haggling with them (i.e. threatening to cancel service) to get better pricing overall.
  14. I'm just not that high on Crowder at least in terms of the idea he's going to be a drop in replacement for Beasely ( or have even better numbers). Also another guy that can't stay healthy.
  15. I see another poster shared the link to the article I was was referencing about Jones possibly being in the MVP conversation. Obviously the difference between Jones being a 'dark horse' MVP and our own stud QB being an MVP is that the former would be unexpected compared to a more proven commodity like JA17/Mahomes/Rogers/Brady/etc. But when you look at Mac Jones specifically relevant to the Pats roster (specifically on offense) it's already very impressive what he did as a rookie so if he were to truly carry the team this year similar to his predecessor in years past it's definitely not out of the realm of feasibility for him to win MVP.
  16. I would honestly be surprised if neither Tua or Jones amount to much in this league. I get the Tua criticism given how his first few years have panned out and all the other outside noise around him (i.e. trying to trade for Watson last year) but still think he's already shown he's good enough to be a 'low end' type of franchise QB so to speak given his precision accuracy. Jones is the guy I'd watch more closely this year given how impressive his rookie season was and there are already rumblings about him being a dark horse MVP candidate this year with similar hype in NE right now about his offseason so far. Just not as impressed with the Pats offseason on the surface compared to Miami (and NYJ for that matter).
  17. Or people just realize he has nothing much to do with an offense in which Patrick Mahomes is your QB and Reid is the real OC and brains behind the operation.
  18. Davis was a true monster in the playoff game against the Chiefs but still think a lot of that had to do with all the attention shifted towards Diggs and Beasely as KC was pretty determined to take a page out of the Belichik playbook and erase both of them. So I think Davis production this year will be center around whether or not he can take advantage of teams doing the same to Diggs (and know likely Knox) or if someone else emerges in this offense. Deep down I fear not having another veteran WR could hurt this team but still plenty of time to address and options out there.
  19. I don't know that I agree with all this. I do believe the Ravens may opt to let him walk and not give him a massive deal if they think he's not truly worth it and/or too much of a long term liability as a 'running QB'. But on the flipside I thought Jackson acquitted himself quite well as an elite passer and truly evolved going way back to when Dobbins was lost for the year in training camp. He proved he could beat teams with his arms which was always a criticism going back to his postseason performances.
  20. OJ Howard was a somewhat sneaky under the radar signing and will probably be TE1 here in 2023 assuming Knox becomes too expensive to keep. He had decent numbers in TB before Gronk came there to play with Brady. Obviously can draft another one next year too. Just one of many reasons this team needs to do whatever it takes to win a championship this year before this roster stats to look very different.
  21. Not sure this is a valid comparison because Tua has actually looked more than serviceable at times and started a good chunk of games the last few years where Peterman looked like a trainwreck in most of his in game action as a rookie (i.e. the chargers game) before his 'summer of hype' in 2018 before being named the starter for the Ravens opener which was another ugly outing and pretty much made him one and done as the starter in Buffalo that year. I don't necessarily agree with the comparisons, but I think a lot of Miami fans and other media are looking at Tua's first 2 seasons and comparing them to JA17's first 2 years and believe a similar jump is going to happen, especially sinces Tua's first two years were actually better than JA17. At the end of the day though JA17 is truly an exception to the norm and most folks would be lying if they said they saw his breakout year coming. I don't think Tua needs to break out so to speak as much has he needs to make marginal improvement across the board for him to be viewed as a viable franchise QB and long term option in Miami.
  22. Maybe but the Jets would truly have to be a cinderella type of team IMO to leapfrog anyone else in the division this year. But again, they probably had the best draft of any team in the division and right up there with the Chiefs in terms of best draft in the conference/NFL.
  23. Love hearing about Basham looking good, albeit just in OTA play. A lot of folks thought he might be the better player in the short term between him and Groot and could be poised for a breakout season. Also Doyle is an intriguing name to watch as he seems to fare well last year in spot duty as a utility type of player. At the end of the day there is going to be some very tough cuts on this final roster.
  24. Patriots fans never thought their reign would end either. Yes the Bills have enjoyed a current stretch of dominance over the Dolphins but they've been on the brink the last few years both in terms of winning the division/making the playoffs and beating the Bills a few times. I've been a vocal critic of McD but he is 12-1 in division games the last few years including the playoffs (only loss was that weird wind game last year when the Bills were in a funk). But still think it's a bit misleading because the Pats didn't have Brady, Jets were terrible and aforementioned Dolphins were in transition rebuilding. Things could come full circle this year in terms of the division being a much more difficult task to win which is why it will be a real accomplishment to win a 3rd straight division title.
  25. JA17 is a thick boy too so can see why Jets fans are probably giddy about this news. Wilson did seem to play better last year after coming back from injury and it mirrored JA17's rookie season to a certain degree.
