  1. All signs point to this being an ugly, low scoring game given both teams offensive line issues. So the question is does the better offense or defense carry the load and early in the season? In most cases it's the defense that is ahead of offense which would give the nod to the Jets as they are the better unit across the board and probably a top 5 unit at worse this year.
  2. I would say closer to 2019 in that I think this team's ceiling is probably 10/11 wins and a WC spot and the floor is 6 or 7 wins an d obvious non playoff season. Bottom line is there's nothing this team has done to get closer to the Chiefs and Bengals while at the same time many other teams have taken massive steps to catch the Bills, including several in own division which is the major problem given there are only so many spots available in the tourney. Add it all up and it's a big step backwards/regression on paper.
  3. A truly scary thought. Sad reality though is barring a big trade in which we give up picks/players of worth in return we're probably rolling with the roster as is heading into the Jets game.
  4. At this stage of my adult life and fanhood it's really to see a SB win especially after growing up in the 90's and taking the 4 straight losing trips for granted. Entering this season though unfortunately my expectations are as low as they've been since the drought years.
  5. I actually give all the credit in the world to this regime for putting Kincaid and Torrence right into the mix as rookies and both look like clear cut day one starters and contributors out of the gate. There's obviously a reason though they don't want Williams playing MLB despite the gaping hole there right now.....we just need to wait a little long to understand what exactly that reason is.
  6. It will be a true houdini act for JA17 to stay healthy all season if this offensive line is as bad they looked against the Steelers or even resemble something remotely close to it. Just amazes me that Beane wouldn't see what the best GM in the business has done in KC and try and copy that in terms of completely overhauling your offensive line. Mind you the Chiefs opted for this approach despite getting to a SB in 2020 and understood they weren't nearly as good as they needed and wanted to protect their franchise QB for the long haul.
  7. I think most people understand that you can't get too high or low of a preseason game, but the valid concerns I would have are as follows: 1) It still seems like this team has an attitude/arrogance that they can simply put it altogether when they need to even though that's been proven false, in a big way last year in the playoffs. If you have accomplished what the Chiefs have it's one thing to not take preseason seriously are put out a performance like that. 2) This team was fundamentally bad across the board on Saturday, both offense and defense, starters and backups. This is a reflection of coaching no matter what way you spin it and it's apparent this team is obviously running soft mickey mouse practices if anything to avoid injuries. 3) All the holes on the roster that critics have identified were on full display in the worst possibly way (MLB, RT, backup QB, etc). This if anything is the big takeaway everyone should be honing in on because it does matter what we are seeing in preseason against other legit NFL players. With that said, everyone should not be ready to jump off the ledge yet until this team starts playing games that actually count and still plenty of time to right the ship (and hopefully find adequate veteran help at certain positions).
  8. I know a lot of other reasonable fans share this belief, they just don't want to admit it....at least not yet. But at some point you show the world exactly who you and not sure what more people need to see to understand that in reference to McD when it comes to 0-4 on the road in the playoffs, 13 seconds, 2020 AFFCG, Bengals game last year, etc. If just getting to the playoffs is acceptable bar in Buffalo, again there are plenty of other (much better) HC's out there that can also do that for you.
  9. I've said all along, that it's perfectly fine to appreciate what this regime has done in turning things around but at the same time accepting and understanding they aren't good enough to take this team any further then the current divisional round ceiling the last few years. But your point is just that....the reason is that McD is even in this position to begin with is because he has a franchise QB who many believe is top 5 in the league. Which is why I believe Doug Marrone, Rex Ryan, etc would all have posted similar results here considering they both also reached AFFCG's with other teams (who didn't have QB's anywhere close to the caliber of JA17). And no still don't care about 2017 because that was 1) pure luck/parity and 2) a roster that was mostly made of previous regimes players. So at least for me I'm beyond the point of just considering it and believe that should this team miss the playoffs altogether (still more likely that some want to admit), or have enough enough early exit should they get there then it's time to say thanks to the current regime and then graciously move on.
  10. I'll never understand this type of chaos, especially during a preseason game. It's bad enough you are dropping hundreds of dollars on tickets, food, beer, etc and not really what you want to see especially if you have kids with you.
  11. I don't think you can ever come back from that which is why that was point in time when most knew this regime is most likely never going to take this team to SB and championship. But you make a good point about this team just looking like they just 'showed up' most weeks without any serious intensity or energy, if anything because they continued to read their own press clippings and bought the media hype about them being the consensus media SB favorite. Also why they were lucky to barely beat an injury ravaged Dolphins team down to a rookie 3rd string QB and then getting thoroughly embarrassed by one of the league's elite teams and QB's on their home field. Clock is ticking and this team MUST avoid a slow start this year or ravenous vultures will be circling quickly in Orchard Park....
  12. I still think a lot of fans don't understand that just because the Pegula's just extended this regime it doesn't preclude them from firing both on the spot if this season ends up being a epic train wreck and there's plenty of precedence for that both recently in the league (Cardinals) and in Buffalo (Dick The Corpse Jauron).
  13. If this carries over into the regular season and the team gets off to a bad start even the most ardent homers will start to turn on this regime especially if the players quit on the coaches and it ends up being a lost season (which sadly my gut feeling tells me is coming anyway).
  14. I've been and still am one of the loudest critics of this team, but if this oline ends up being a complete disaster this year who do you blame? On one hand it looks like Torrence is going to be a stud (albeit based on just camp/preseason thus far), but the rest of the group has serious questions particularly at both tackle spots. We keep hearing about Aaron Kromer being one of the best oline coaches in the league but so far this group has been at it's worse under his watch. On the defensive line front we hear about how deep and loaded this unit is, yet getting consistent pressure and finishing with sacks and turnovers remains elusive. In the end yes Beane is ultimately going to be to blame and still think if you take away JA17 he's no better than all the other GM's that have come through Buffalo since 2000.
  15. I've always felt that Dawkins has been overrated and nothing more than average on his good days. And a lot of folks used the covid stuff for an excuse the last few years given his well documented bouts with that. But if he is truly washed I dread seeing JA17 run for his life and try and survive a full 17 game season in Buffalo this year especially against the type of defenses we are going to see on a weekly basis, including all 6 division games.
  16. As bad as this team looked against the Steelers it's still just a preseason game. With that said, when you are fundamentally bad in just about every position/aspect of the game that is direct indictment on the head coach and the concerns from critics (like myself) that forsee a major regression and 'owned and exposed' type of season incoming for the Bills aren't going away anytime soon.
  17. All indications so far is Torrence looks like the real deal and kudos to this staff for not wasting any more time with a pointless competition at the position. With that said it's very concerning that a rookie is the best player on the oline and all the critics concerns have been validated so far through these 'meaningless' preseason games.
  18. I still think Watson is overrated and never as good as the hype around him indicated. Bills should have never lost that playoff game against him either against the Texans.
  19. Not trying to hate, it's still Mahomes world and we're all living in it regardless. But this is exactly what comes with the territory when you are in the midst of a dynasty and why the Patriots were able to weather similar storms through the years when Brady was there because they knew when to let veterans walk and not give them big paydays and contracts. In CJ case though one could argue you kind of have to since he's the clear cut #2 DT in the NFL behind Donald and major reason why the Chiefs defense has been able to turn on switch come playoff time in all their SB runs. I sure hope he doesn't land on in Miami because that roster is already among the best in the league, what I meant is being traded away like Hill instead instead of keeping him for big money. Veach is the best in the business and not an idiot but as I mentioned in another poster, Chris Jones is the #2 DT and top 10 player in the NFL period and a big part of why they are in the midst of potential dynasty so it would be a much bigger roll of the dice to part ways with him like they did with Hill.
  20. I tend to agree with this, but I think if you put Mahomes on the Bills I truly believe he's special enough to overcome McD's shortcomings and likely would have delivered a championship here by now. I think there's no question that the Pats would still be winning SB's as well if he was playing under Belichik. Also one glaring omission here is Joe Burrow who at least right now I still put ahead of JA17 and view as 1B to Mahomes. Zac Taylor was on the brink of being fired after 2 seasons in Cincy but is also now in that top 5 HC discussion because of Burrow and likely going to be the HC there for years to come.
  21. Not going to lie, in some ways I'm giddy about this situation for KC because it's going to cause a major distraction and increase the probability that Jones goes the way of Tyreek Hill sooner than later. This is why all of Chiefs nation have to be thrilled they stole a SB last year and were gifted ridiculous calls against the Bengals and Eagles in the AFFCG and SB respectively because it's going to be a much more perilous path this year especially if this Jones situation continues to linger into the regular season.
  22. I think this is why about where they should be, if anything because of the simple fact that after Diggs there are still tons of question marks. Yes Gabe Davis have flashed potential, but apparently he needs to be 100% healthy to truly be effective and injuries have been an issue (or excuse) with him his entire career. The rest of the WR depth chart is just a bunch of guys and obviously Beane is hoping to get lucky with at least one of Harty, Isabella, Shakir, etc.
  23. BB is 71 and Andy Reid is 65. This is something lost in the current discussion about Mahomes/Reid catching BB/Brady, in other words it's not happening at least not Mahomes and Reid together. Also why I think the Mahomes hype will have to slow down at some point because he's not going to have Kelce/Reid/Chris Jones together with him his entire career or much longer for that matter.
  24. I've beat this drum for several years now as most here know and the way MLB is being handled is a major reason why. I was never a big Edmunds fan and glad this team didn't give him the deal Chicago did, but drafting all these tweaner/midget type of players was highly suspect and relying on fringe NFL player like Dodson is (at least to start the year) is a recipe for disaster. Won't matter how good this Dline is the middle is of the field will be wide open in terms of both passing/running lanes and this schedule is a murderer's row in terms of opposing QB's this year.
  25. Dolphins roster is loaded from top to bottom but losing guys like Ramsey and Armstead can derail a SB run pretty quick sadly.
