  1. I'm intrigued by Troy Anderson, but not at #25 overall.
  2. Not a good year if you need a great QB. Every one has significant bust potential.
  3. I agree, Buffalo needs a little more competition at guard, someone who can play both guard and center would be just the thing. You may want to replace Morse this season, but I don't think it's happening. I also don't think tackle is a high priority for Buffalo in this draft. Tight end is a low priority too. There is no Travis Kelce in this draft, and Dawson Knox has become a solid tight end. Brian Daboll didn't feature the tight end that much, but Knox did everything asked of him. OJ Howard was underutilized in Tampa after Gronk came to town, but I think in the right circumstances he has starter level ability. If Buffalo sees compelling value at TE when their pick comes up, I'm not objecting to the choice of a tight end, but it's not a need that has to be addressed. I do agree that Buffalo could stand a solid upgrade at running back. If Breece Hall dropped to Buffalo's spot in the second round or they decided to draft Kenneth Walker III at that spot, I would be very happy. I think Von Miller is primarily a defensive end in Buffalo's defense. I would love to have another dominant defensive end across from Von Miller, but it's not this highest priority on the team. The chances of getting someone better than Epenesa, Rousseau and Basham continue to drop after round one, and I don't think Buffalo is picking on in round one. Boye Mafe is the only one who might be available late in round one with that kind of elite upside, and he's recovering from an injury. Same Williams is intriguing in the second round, if Buffalo doesn't go somewhere else. Cornerback is probably the most acute need, with Wallace gone. I don't have confidence in Dane Jackson as a starter. Linebacker depth could be better, but it's not an urgent priority. If Buffalo sees one they like on day three, I'm good with that. At WR, I'm of the opinion that the best way to take advantage of a QB like Josh Allen is with speed at receiver. I'm OK with Gabe Davis starting across from Diggs, but Buffalo doesn't really have a lot of elite speed at WR. Diggs is a 4.46 guy. McKenzie is bit faster at 4.42. Stevenson is faster, in the 4.3 range (ran a 4.37 at the combine) but he was a 6th round draft pick. He might develop into a superstar, but Buffalo can't count on that. He's also on the shorter size. I'd love to see Buffalo take a flyer on Tyquan Thornton on day three. He'll take some development, but he's obviously got home run speed to go with plus size.
  4. Of course Brady knew what was happening, and may well have initiated the contact. I'm just saying, the league doesn't penalize players. In theory, at least it's supposed to be the team that is penalized for the contact, regardless of who called up who.
  5. I don't think by definition, players can be said to be tampering. They can say and do what they want. Now, Miami would theoretically have to get permission from Tampa to have any kind of conversation with Brady or his agent. If the Miami GM or owner or coach did an interview for some local media outlet and said, "We are interested in having Tom Brady play for us," that would be a huge "No no!"
  6. For me, there are some obvious assumptions. For instance, Buffalo is not going to draft a punter or a QB in the first round, so I'm not going to worry about those positions. I would have difficulty with Tyler Linderbaum because of his size. As good as he's supposed to be, I would worry that he's limited to a zone blocking scheme, and I don't know that Buffalo is married to that concept. They have run plays using both zone blocking and power blocking. I am also biased against taking a linebacker in round 1. I would question drafting receivers who depend on physicality and size because they lack speed, or receivers that might be too small to play outside. Drake London, Travon Burkes, and Jahan Dotson are on my worry list. I also think it would be kind of dumb for the Bills to draft a tall offensive tackle in round one given that they've shown no inclination to shift Dion Dawkins inside. Spencer Brown looks like he might be the answer at right tackle, and the Bills look like they're developing Tommy Doyle as a backup swing tackle.
  7. Christodoulou is a Greek name that means slave of Christ. Not saying it should mean anything to any given reader, but it is what it is for anyone who is interested. There is Cole Strange a center from UT Chattanooga. Also there is 6'5" 300 lb tackle guard prospect Nicholas Petit-Frere whose name is French for "little brother." There is a QB from Western KY named Bailey Zappe, and a WR from Miami named Charleston Rambo. And who wouldn't want a Strong running back. You can pick up Pierre Strong late. Ricky Jr. from NC State is just another Person.
  8. In a conversation on One Bills Live several weeks ago, Cosell shared his sky high opinion of Pickens. He's probably available at 25 if the Bills want him. Has a great all around skill set, ample size and good speed for his size. If Buffalo is looking for a burner, he's far from the fastest receiver in the draft, but he's probably going to be an outstanding pro.
  9. I looked him up after reading your post. Mitchell isn't quite as long or as fast as Knox, but he looks like a solid backup early, with starting potential. I wouldn't take him in the second, but later on in the draft he might be a terrific value.
  10. Here is the link. https://www.audacy.com/sports/nfl/2022-nfl-mock-draft-panthers-pass-on-pickett-steelers-and-chiefs-trade-up I found it through the NFLMockDraftDatabase, which misspelled the source site. I copied from them and called it "Audacity." It's actually Audacy.com, the parent company of WGR radio. Here is that link: https://www.nflmockdraftdatabase.com/mock-drafts/2022/audacity-sports-2022-jasper-jones?date=2022-04-13
  11. Hill is certainly big enough, and athletic enough to play corner on the outside. I wonder why he didn't at Michigan. In any case, I don't think there is any chance Buffalo drafts him unless they can be convinced he'll be a solid outside cornerback.
  12. I saw an interesting mock draft today. It was from a website named Audacity, which may tell you something. Anyway, it had Buffalo picking Andrew Booth at 25, a choice many of us would be pretty content with. What made it interesting was Trayvon Walker slipping completely out of the first round. As most draft watchers know, Walker killed the combine, running a 4.5 40 as a 6'5" 272 defensive end. Most mocks now have him going in the top 10. A number of them have him going top 5, and I've even seen one projecting him as the #1 overall pick. He didn't have quite the production at Georgia that you might expect from those crazy elite combine numbers, but many observers think that was due more to the fact that Georgia had elite players all across their defensive front, and there were only so many opportunities Walker had to rack up stats. So, in the unlikely event that Trayvon Walker is available at #25, would you forego a nice (relatively) safe pick like Andrew Booth at a position of need to take a guy who might be a top 5 player in the draft?
  13. Watson was better coming out of college than Josh Allen because Watson had the benefit of some of the best coaching in college football. Of course, we all know about Josh's path to the NFL. I think there are still a few idiots out there who can't get over Josh Allen's humble beginnings.
  14. It's pretty much irrelevant whether or not fans have given up on him. He'll be on the roster in training camp, but there's going to be competition. If he demonstrates significant improvement, he might stick and have a role in the upcoming season, but he sure hasn't earned an assumed role as a #2 back on the team to say nothing about starting. At this point he'll be fighting for a roster spot.
  15. Well, if Emerson has all of Wallace's "grit and savvy," he should end up being a better player on the strength of his superior measurables. The consensus slotting as a second round value would seem to affirm that, given that Wallace was a UDFA.
  16. Levi Wallace is 6' weighed under 180 and ran a 4.63 40. Emerson is 6'2" 200 lbs and runs a 4.53. They are nowhere close to being clones. What Wallace has going for him his football smarts and his technique. We'll see how Emerson is in those areas, but clones? No way!
  17. The Bills, I believe, are still thinking of Dawson Knox as their #1 tight end. If it plays out that way in the season, Howard may not have huge numbers even if he is effective when he has the opportunity. I'm OK with that. Whoever gets the production is not a concern. Having two good tight ends gives the Bills some offensive flexibility. That makes the offenses more dangerous and harder to stop. It also means they've got quality depth in case of injury. That's always good to have in a long season.
  18. That would not surprise me. I do think if he signs somebody, it'll be a cornerback.
  19. If I'm Beane, I'm not doing that trade. Sauce Gardner will likely be a great cornerback, but Tre white is a quality # 1 cornerback, and Buffalo is going to need all the draft capital they can manage. They have a bunch of players being paid big contracts now, and need to find starters in future drafts to pay on rookie deals to replace guys they won't be able to afford to re-sign.
  20. Size probably limits him to the slot position as a receiver, but he would be an upgrade from McKenzie as a gadget player. He's probably got enough mass to line up in the backfield as a running back. He would be a fun tool for an offensive coordinator that has some imagination.
  21. I'm fine with taking a corner in round 1, but it will depend on how the first round falls. The best ones will be gone. Derek Stingley has the athleticism and skill set, though he's had injury issues and hasn't been as productive recently. Sauce Gardner is probably the first corner off the board. Then there's a second tier that includes Andrew Booth Trent McDuffie and Kaiir Elam In all likelihood a couple of them will be gone. It's possible one of them will still be on the board. I'd be comfortable with any of the three. If all three are gone, I don't think the next tier represents good value at #25. Roger McCreary and Kyler Gordon are a couple names here. They are good corners, but I think they are second round values. I don't want Buffalo picking one from that group at #25. I would not object to trading out of the first round at that point and taking one in the top 10 of round 2. Otherwise, they should look for BPA at a position where they don't have a lot of need and try to get a CB in round 2 or 3.
  22. The loss of Levi Wallace weigh on the Bills draft strategy early (the first three rounds). If they draft a quality starting CB in one of the first three rounds to replace Levi Wallace, they can be reasonably comfortable with Dane Jackson filling in for White for a couple games. That won't necessarily preclude signing a free agent CB before the start of training camp.
  23. I agree with those who say they'll miss Jerry. The Bills have to live within the cap and that's one of the decisions they had to make. Epenesa and Lawson are not the players that Hughes has been, But they a lot cheaper. Von Millers is really the only pass rusher they have on the line who can win with bend and speed now. I expect the Bills will draft a defensive end, but I doubt it will be early, and if you don't draft a defensive end early, you're probably not going to get elite athleticism. One guy they might get in round 2 is Sam Williams. He's listed as a linebacker but he's 265 lbs with sub 4.5 speed. He needs a lot of development, but the raw athleticism is there.
