  1. Agree … but the downside is fickle fans and media. Everyone loves the young backup prospect. At least until the real bullets fly.
  2. That said, things continue to arise that make one question whether she is qualified to run one professional sports team in any league, let alone 5 teams.
  3. I think she was a waitress when they met, then he hired her, then he married her ... now she runs PSE.
  4. It’s only a terrible situation if the Sabres leave, and the NHL dies not want want the team leaving it best TV market in the USA. The thought of the Pegula’s selling the Sabres to a local consortium is appealing. Sell the Sabres and Amerks to Buffalo and Rochester interests. Terry got off on the wrong foot in the NHL. Talking about Stanley Cups with no experience, throwing money at marginal free agents, and the continuous instability. He turned the Sabres into the California Golden Seals. They have no inside hockey people helping them. Kim Pegula is so far proving to be not qualified to run this empire. Of bigger concern is Beane and McDermott. Terry needs to lock them up for a long time and then take Kim and stay out of their way.
  5. If the guy is a playmaker and helps us win then drafting him in the 3rd round versus 4th round matters not. I don’t understand the theory that great running backs are easy to find.
  6. Singletary will only get better. They key is to stay healthy. If he goes down we have Yeldon. i want to win the AFC East and make noise in the playoffs. We need more than Yeldon for that. I want to draft a RB because we need depth and we need playmakers. I think the 3rd round (maybe even 4th) is a good place to look for a solid contributor type of RB. The very Top Tier prospects will go by the end of the 2nd or early 3rd, but there are a bunch of good options.
  7. Agree that they need more talent on Offense. They need another RB to split time with Singletary - one that can run with power, plus block and catch. I don't at all think that is Yeldon. They could use more talent at OT. They could use better depth at WR (and size) On defense they need more EDGE rush so DL/OLB is important - they need to get younger there. You know the saying, you can never have enough good corners. Now there is talk of a big SS as well. That is 6 picks - Without a #1, If 2 or 3 picks are key contributors (they don't have to start as rookies) then Beane has done well again.
  8. If Kirk Cousins said that then he is a probably not a strong enough competitor to carry his to a Super Bowl.
  9. I don’t think you will see a QB, FB, or TE picked at 54. I think they go BPA on THEIR Draft Board, which is not like the mock draft guru’s at all. I think they want that player to fall in here - OLB/DE or RB/WR or OL.
  10. We are talking about measuring a good defense. Points allowed is one very good measure, but not the only one. Certainly the ability to shut down the other team, not give up long time consuming drives, and get the ball back is important as well.
  11. You look at everything, every detail counts. The Bills lost Super Bowl by 20-19. Giving up 20 points was ok. Giving up yards, first downs, time, and failing to get off the field on 3rd was a problem. Lots of ways to measure effectiveness.
  12. I see Yeldon as a 3. Getting one of the best RBs in the draft for #2 is smart. Easy insurance for Singletary, and he may be even better. The special team RB will either be Taiwan or Senorise.
  13. Spot on! I agree. We need another running threat to help Singletary. We are Buffalo and we have winter.
  14. If you want to help the “win now cause” we really need one of the top RBs. I just don’t see Yeldon as a 2nd runner. pick 54 depends on what’s there but I would take the clear cut BPA from RB/WR/CB/Edge. If I don’t get a RB at 2, then I grab one in the 3rd.
  15. #3 reminds me of the Sabres Slug Logo - which is a bad thing.
  16. I am not in favor of trading up for a safety and giving up additional picks in rounds 3 or 4. I think we can really get help our offense by staying put. Shenault or another top talent could fall to us in round 2, and there definitely will be a quality RB for us in round 2 AND/OR round 3. There still could be a strong OT prospect in rounds 2/3 or a strong OG prospect in round 3/4. Since our line is pretty good now and just starting to gel with a second full year together we could develop these players slowly, the way winning teams do. If we do go defense in rounds 2/3 I think we need to look at an infusion of youth at OLB/DE (edge), or if a CB falls then that could be the pick. I think a Safety can be addressed in later rounds, like 5/6. Thankfully, Beane gets to make these decision and not me, but it is fun to play GM at this time of year.
  17. Well no. Riddick played 6 years as a back up and a solid ST player. 1988 was his final season and he had 12 TD’s rushing as a short yardage specialist and 1 TD receiving .
  18. Yes, looked good. Got hurt, and like many running backs that was it.
  19. Could be a turning point “lessons learned “ game. We should have taken care of business in the red zone, then there would be no discussion about it. Thinking back to the Cleveland road game playoff loss, the Ronnie Harmon drop, that was a character builder for them. Let’s hope this one is too.
  20. No to McCoy. Draft a stud to compliment Singletary. Get a bulldozer type back. for short yardage. Bonus if he can block and catch out of the backfield. Two good backs on rookie contracts, build for the future.
  21. Terry Miller was the first name to come to mind. We had several players that started excellent, got injured, and never played the same. Dennis Shaw was the Offensive Rookie of the Year, then playing for some really horrible teams. He became a journeyman and faded away to oblivion.
  22. Bill, i agree with you, Whitner was an Ok player - but at least a solid starter for several teams over 11 years. Look at the Bills First Round History. 57 picks and I count 30 picks that were the player is worse or similar to Whitner, and am being generous in a few cases. It could be more. I get there were better players on the board at the time, but you can look almost any Bills draft and find a first rounder picked after ours who was better -- with maybe the exceptions of OJ, and Bruce, and maybe the four years we picked 2nd last. the notion that he was a bust or one of the worst all time picks is not true. We have done a lot worse many times over - which is why our lifetime record is poor.
