  1. I would and so would most people. Unfortunately draft day decisions get make in the present, with the data you have at the time, to the plan you have at the time, with the people you have at the time, with no benefit of looking into the future for two years. I see the Bills problems finding a franchise QB to be caused by: 1. not enough QBs drafted, you have to keep drafting them until you find one, and its ok to be lucky but you have to draft them to get lucky 2. no stable coaching staff in place to develop one - you can't change regimes every 2 to 4 years and build a winner.
  2. And for all the fans that think that the mostly lousy product produced by the Bills and Sabres for the past 20 years justifies the lousy coverage provided by Bucky and Sully I submit the names Phil Ranallo, Larry Felser, and Jim Kelley. All true professionals and highly respected among their peers. Each if these men went through bad sports periods too, yet I looked forward to their columns every day. No comparison.
  3. Well since their performance was so stellar, and they are so widely respected in their field, I am sure they will have no trouble finding big jobs working for major news outlets or sports networks. Yet, for some reason, they are doing what ... an AM radio gig in Buffalo and posting their drivel on third rate internet sites.
  4. I never found Bucly or Sulky to be very good at covering Buffalo sports teams. The easiest thing to do is criticize, which they did in spades. The hardest thing to do is get breaking news and meaningful insights, which they almost never did. Time and time again the biggest Bills news would come from National media outlets and these two clowns played catch-up. Just because you are THE MEDIA doesn’t mean you don’t have to be good at your job. Good riddance. I don’t miss them and I avoid their second rate outlet.
  5. There are lots of quality LTs in this draft and we can trade back to get more picks and still get a very good one. We would love to see 5 picks in the first 3 round and a trade back could do it. And stop trading up and wasting picks. If we can accumulate a few prime picks we can get a quality O-lineman and a receiver. We also need a corner and depth at LB (Lorenzo will not last forever). With free agency we can address OL and WR as a priority.
  6. Anyone remember Abdullah The Butcher on Championships Wrestling?
  7. You just proved my point, Head coaches have been calling offensive plays since the 50's, 60's, 70's. The coaches you named have offensive assistants but they call they shots. Brown, Allen, Lombardi, Stram, Landry, Shula, Noll, Walsh, the list is endless. Plays were sent down to Marv Levy too. Then the specialty coordinator thing started and all this offensive minded/ defensive minded baloney started where some HC's let the two coordinators run the game. But it does not have to be that way. My point is the HC is responsible for all of it, if he passes one or both phases of it to someone else that is his business.
  8. No this is bigger than offense or defense or what the HC job was BEFORE he became the HC. I think he needs 3 to 4 years to do a fair assessment. My assessment will not be based on how good any one phase of the game is. It will be on the teams overall performance measured by wins and losses. His first year was excellent in that he won 9 games even after roster was stripped down. He had the team motivated and he overcame a horrible 3 game stretch were the defense was very poor. His 2nd year is a disaster and not likely to change. He will be accountable for the play on the field and the rebuild of the roster. So far in the past 1.5 seasons in the job he is not grading out very well.
  9. Great job Shaw! Excellent work. My only rebuttal is that it is not all coaching, but coaching is a part of it. We have a roster that has been stripped down for two years and is now almost completely devoid of talent. The offense has only two players that are worthy to start on an NFL team - McCoy and Dawkins, and McCoy is looking like he is ready for a reduced role. The defense has been good at times but just wait until Kyle Williams, Jerry Hughes and Lorenzo Alexander leave ... the offense is so bad that it needs all of the top draft picks for the next 2 years to begin to recover and you and I know that we need linebacker depth and another starting CB. The backup depth is bad and you see it on special teams with penalties and poor kick/punt coverage in every game. When you look at all the players we traded, and then all the picks we traded to move up in the draft and then look at the return it is not pretty. It is starting to look like McDermott and Beane are over their heads but they get another year and in the next year they have tons of cap room and another bunch of draft picks. We will be picking in the top 4 for sure. Lets see what happens.
  10. Offensive minded or defensive minded is a load of bunk that the media spews and fans buy into. A great head coach puts equal emphasis on all aspects of the game and has a strong say in who is personnel is across the board. The best coaches somehow have great coordinators in all phases of the game, then they lose them to other teams, and they bring in more great coordinators. Even wonder why? It because they oversee EVERYTHING and makes sure that its right.
  11. ... and Allen has 2 wins and was in good position for a 3rd. Allen has looked much better in my opinion.
  12. Peterman's stats were ok but his passes were not on target, very often forcing the receiver to break stride to get the ball, which usually yields low YAC. Looking at the average yards per reception, it is low. Many 3rd downs were not converted because of this. Peterman played good for Peterman, but not even close to par for a NFL starting QB. Yes, his supporting cast sucks too but he simply does not make plays. Josh Allen has a long way to go in his development but you can at least see leadership ability and the athletic ability to make a few plays and inspire the team. Peterman does not do this.
  13. He was not offered the Panthers job due to age and experience, other than that he is very highly respected. What th heck does clout have to do with anything? Does Clout help you pick good players? Pegula made the choice to hire McDermott first, let him run a draft and then hire Beane. A very odd way to do things. The idea of going for a QB in year 2 is all McDermott, he gave Taylor a chance and he left Mahommes and Watson on the board. Beanie comes in a blows up a marginal 9-7 playoff team in his first full year. We have a major project in Allen at QB, an aged running back, and nothing else on offense. That is were we are today. We look like a 3-13 team and will draft in the first 3 slots. Let’s hope he doesn’t blow it. Several of our best players on defense are old (Kyle, Jerry and Lorenzo). Our LB depth is very poor. I can see our defense dropping next year as we spend premium draft picks on OL and WR. Predictable mess.
  14. So you don’t understand good behavior? What you saw should be the norm. The fans cheering after the pick 6 are smart enough to know we had no business keeping it close for that long. They are true fans hoping for better days and making the most of a fun Monday night. The Bills fans looked good on MNF and the National media acknowledged that as did Thurman in his jersey retirement. As for your behavior, seeking help is a good thing. No need to fight about a football game. Life is way to short.
  15. You lost my in line 1. High producing offense - classic example of revisionist history. Yes right, Tyron Taylor and his prolific scoring machine Not at all happy with the off season moves either, the team is a mess, but really the offense was not great before McBeane.
  16. Please stop.
  17. Positives ? The season is half over.
  18. Need more pressure. Not the refs fault.
  19. Yeah right, all those points that Tyrod and Watkins piled up, how could I forget that. Below average offense before Wrecks, especially against a good defense, to the worst in the NFL.
  20. I have never in 55 years of watching this team been less interested in a game as I am today. I am am sick of losing, sick of rebuilding, sick if the Pats*, sick of Brady, sick of being embarrassed in national TV. Maybe the stars align and we win but I don’t see a Derek Anderson led team pulling this off.
  21. The offense was poor when McD got here and it is even worse now. We do not have a QB. Until we get one we will be an after thought in the league. DEFENSE can win championships but you need some competence on offense Yes, the threads would have better tone if we were winning, that goes which any team.
  22. Its that “making teams earn every point” part that was funniest. Have you seen our specials teams and offense? With this teams collective “heart and soul” they are good for about 4 or 5 wins. Enjoy.
  23. Seems like times are bad now but this is not uncommon unfortunately. In the Bills history we have had only four good starters at QB, Kemp, Ferguson, Kelly, and Flutie. We have had only two good backups: Lamonica and Reich. Pretty sad but watching Anderson is not the worst I have seen.
