Locked on Bills Podcast: A Case for Tremaine Edmunds
Old Coot replied to TC in St. Louis's topic in The Stadium Wall
Based on some of the moves they've made this offseason I think they are already in the process of doing this. Same on the offensive side of the ball. The Bills are not going to be stagnant. They are making intentional moves to keep their scheme more flexible than it has been. They do NOT need a MLB with Edmunds' athletic gifts to build a successful defense, that's crazy. McDermott has built several successful defenses with a wide variety of players. To be clear, I was not saying that a successful D cannot be built absent Edmunds. I was saying that absent Edmunds the Bills will need to restructure their D. It takes awhile for a D to jell; that's why I said the base D will likely be set back a year or two. In those one or two years, the Bills may lose other key players on D or O so that the replacement process becomes something akin to "Wack-A-Mole." -

I'm betting the team will try to re-sign Edmunds. Why? He's a valuable part of the Bills' D. If he leaves who will replace him? As Joe marino says Edmunds is a physical freak, tall, huge windspan and covers alot of ground. Sure he has weaknesses but whoever replaces him would not be able to do what he does. Replacing him would require a restructuring the Bills' base defense and likely set back the D a year or two. -
Good comparison, Shaw

It's difficult to pick one footballer because football is much more a team sport than baseball, basketball or hockey. The best offensive player has to be Jim Brown. The best defensive player, that's more difficult but I'll go with lawrence Taylor. He is single-handedly responsible for creating the left tackle position. Before his time, the tackles were considered interchangeable. Brady -- he's a pretty good QB -- the Otto Graham of his time -- with Paul Brown playing the part of Bill Belichick.

Johnny U -- Mr Football. He played when mugging the opposing team's QB was legal. -
My sense is that to win the Super Bowl a team must be both good & lucky, especially during the playoffs.

As I recall free tickets to SB1 were given out because about one third of the tickets went unsold (likely due to the "outrageous" ticket price of $12).

Elam should fit in nicely. He has two relatives who played in the NFL so he knows the score. My only concerns are that he missed three games last season because of a knee injury and that his play was a bit inconsistent. Why come out after a junior season like that?

Were he on another team I might like him but I sure would respect him. I can't say I ever liked Brady but when he went to Tampa Bay and continued to play at a high level I respected the hell out of him.

Von will be double-teamed on crucial downs. Either he'll need to beat those double-teans or someone else on the DL-LB corps will need to step up. I'm not saying that Von can't beat the double-teams. When he is double-teamed that means there's an opportunity for the other DL or a blitzing LB to get to the QB.

A story perhaps apocryphal: at one of the AFL NY Titans early games there were so few fans that the players went into the stands to thank those attending.

How many "Greatest Games ever Played" are there? Too many criteria for there to be just one.

I delight in your uneasyness over English unpredictable spelling rules. The Germans probably even have a word for my delight. -
