  1. Guess It wasn't a beautiful day in the neighborhood.
  2. Conclusion: other teams' OL are better at hiding the holding than our OL.
  3. Maye looked like the Josh of old rolling out to his right and hitting the receiver at the sideline. He even had the "jump in the air" throwing mechanic of the rookie Josh.
  4. On the issue of helmets you'd think the interior could use some form of cushioning to absorb the force of the back of the head hitting the turf. Maybe cushioning on the outside back of the helmet or better yet, natural grass.
  5. I don't doubt what you say. What are his holes? Why draft him #33 (beginning of 2d round) if he's only WR4? Seems like domeone dropped the ball here (and it wasn't Coleman).
  6. Why does benford seem to have regressed this year? Is he injured? Is it scheme? Sunday night I noticed what looked like a CB sprinting backward just before the snap. Why?
  7. As for the Cold Front unis, save them for the next big blizzard on gameday.
  8. Interestingly, some teams actually began their existence with second hand uniforms. The Chicago Cardinals (remember them) started out using old University of Chicago Maroons uniforms. The university had recently given up football. The ':cardinal" color was actually the faded red of the university jerseys. The Denver Broncos start life with their infamous "Milk Duds" uniforms -- brown and mustard with vertically striped socks.. These uniforms had been used in a college all-star game in the 1950's. The uniforms were so hated by the fans that after a couple of years the tram held a public bonfire at which the uniforms were burned. The Baltimore Colts (remember them) inherited their Blue and White scheme from the defunct Dallas Texans NFL franchise after purchasing that teams asseits and moving the team to Baltimore. The Colts moniker was retained from the old AAFL Baltimore Colts franchise (silver and Green unis)
  9. Source? Don't include the guy hiding behind the shoe shine stand at the bus station
  10. Lay off the sauce. There's still a half of football yet to be played.
  11. I did too in Snyder. Winter at 5 am in Buffalo is cold enough to freeze the balls off a brass monkey.
  12. Sadly print newspapers are a dying breed. With instant news on the web their main reason for being is shrinking along with us old folks who look forward to reading the paper over a cup of coffee in the morning. Who remembers the Courier Express? There was also a Polish language daily.
  13. Oops. The doc must then have been talking about the Miami stadium. That's what I get for ff through the video.
  14. In this Youtube video the doc anayyzing Tyreek's injury explains why he thinks the turf at Met-Life stadium contributes to serious player injuries (think OBJ's injury). He explains at 6:45 of the video. Why mention this here? Because the Bills play at least once a year in that stadium. The new Bills stadium will have natural grass which is more forgiving.
  15. Nothing much to quibble with here. A spot on analysis, Shaw. I do have a comment. I have an amorphous dread (it comes with being a Bills fan -- hope for the best; expect the worst) of the Bills "playing down" to their opponents. It's mostly on D but also the offense. The O is scoring 30 points a game but the points come in spurts; it's not a consistently productive O. Hopefully both O & D will improve as the new bodies gain experience.
  16. As usual, Orson Welles does an incredible narration. He mentions that namath was born in Beaver Falls in Western PA. in earlier times Western PA was known as the the birthplace of great QBs. In addition to Namath and our own Jim Kelly, here is a list of the great QBs born in Western PA: Johnny Lujack, Connellsville (won the Heisman Trophy and played for the Bears in the late '40s and early '50s) Johnny Unitas, Pittsburgh George Blanda, Youngwood (only man to play professional football in 4 decades) Babe Parilli, Rochester Joe Namath, Beaver Falls Joe Montana, Monongahela Jim Kelly, East Brady Dan Marino, Pittsburgh Most of those steel towns have faded into obscurity and with them, their ability to produce QBs.
  17. Why don't they go the whole 9 yards and just have a rule applicable only to the Eagles saying that they only need to gain 9 yards for a first down.
  18. Still 13 to a side? and can receivers still get a running start up to the line? Years ago I read an article that the MLB teams in Canada were at a disadvantage because their player expenses to be competitive with American MLB teams had to match dollars US but in Canadian while their income from attendance was in dollars CA. That migh be different today especially with all trams sharing equally in TV dollars. Your thoughts, eh?
  19. Weight training when you can't afford weights
  20. Another reason it's not West Coast: that system had many timing patterns. The QB takes his 3, 5 or 7 step drop and routes are timed to the drop so when the QB hits his last step -- Boom-- the ball comes out to the timed route that's open.
  21. The Eagles when Jason was at center had the heaviest Oline in the NFL at 338 lbs average. I don't think that any NFL team has 5 DTs that come close to that average. DTs usually are lighter than O lineman. Some 1 T DTs may match that average since their job is to take on double teams but no team has 5 of 'em.
  22. Re Eagles: do you mean the regular season game or when we play them again in the Super Bowl?
  23. The down side of using a visor is that you cannot look off safeties
  24. Probably brain cramping. That was quite a lick that Ed laid on Lamar.
