  1. Can't tell if you are serious or being facetious. The weather at game time is going to be HORRIBLE.
  2. I can't stand this "flavor of the week" crap when it comes to Boston sports fans at this board, as though Boston is a crappy sports town in the LA or Miami mold. Or Atlanta for that matter. WTF are you talking about exactly? I'm a gigantic Red Sox fan and I can tell you that Boston Red Sox fans are among the greatest and most loyal sports fans in the history of the planet. Then there's the Bruins and Celtics. The Patriots might be near the bottom of the totem pole, but that's a New England cultural thing; Boston has ALWAYS been a baseball town first and foremost.
  3. If the team knows it will use 4 downs to get the first down, sure, it definitely is an advantage to have 4 plays to work with to get 10 yards instead of just 3. That's one of the reasons why it is sometimes much wiser to go for it than to punt the ball. But would there be some psychological benefit to the players making them play better if you told them to "think like they are going to use 4 downs" ???? I don't think so. Or if there is one, it's so small as to be insignificant.
  4. If you think of Antonio Brown as a diva millionaire who enjoys tremendous privilege, then this sort of thing is funny. If you acknowledge that he is quite clearly suffering from mental illness, it's not that funny.
  5. Your understanding of TM law is a bit off. An important aspect of TM law in the USA is that marks may not be registered and then "placed a shelf" for the future, but not actually used in interstate commerce. Jones will have to market and sell some sort of goods (or services--he's already doing that as a football player of sorts, making public appearances, etc.) in connection with the mark MJ10, or eventually his registration will be cancelled. You don't "trademark" something as some sort of routine paperwork filing and then forget about it. A trademark is an indicator of the source of goods or services you actually offer and are engaged in selling in interstate commerce in the USA. PS: Had Jones been late to the party there are all kinds of ways he could have rectified the situation. I'm not sure why the average American these days seems obsessed with trademarks, while understanding almost nothing about them.
  6. It's hilarious. If Josh Allen had had this good of a rookie season, the overwhelming support he would receive here with comparisons to the all-time greats would be suffocating. But because it's a QB on our arch rival, we've already concluded "he's really not that good." Do people really not see the basic psychology underlying these types of observations?
  7. Apparently OJ Simpson had already scheduled a tee time, so he wasn't available.
  8. I don't know. When I think "White out game" I think Winnipeg.
  9. Interesting that we are 1 and New England is 5!
  10. Your comments here are why I have frequently argued at this forum for an open aired stadium, or no new stadium at all in WNY. We will NEVER keep up with SOFI in LA or Cowboys Stadium or anything close to that stuff. So then don't try. Go our own path and try to be unique. Pretty soon, there aren't going to be many "real football stadiums" left, where you go, sit, and actually watch a football game because that is all there is to do there. And open air is critical to that experience IMO. As time goes on, a place like Rich Stadium is going to be that much more of a relic from the past, and it will only get better with age, not worse. It's a fine line between "old and run down" and "historic and vintage" if you know what I mean. Of course, I don't go to many games there these days. LOL. I finally had the chance to see a ball game at Wrigley in Chicago a couple years ago; that is the coolest stadium and surrounding area of anything I have ever seen, anywhere. Any city, any sport, any country. And I'm a huge Red Sox fan who has been to Fenway! It is amazingly old and "crappy" from one perspective; but the entire thing is absolutely incredible, as is the surrounding area, which has been transformed into an extension of the ball park. Tons of rooftop terraces beyond the outfield bleachers have seating bleachers on them, across the street, so that the entire neighborhood literally is watching the game in addition to the fans in the stadium. Everything surrounding the entire ball park is Cubs-oriented. It's just a totally cool atmosphere and experience, and the critical dimension of the whole thing is that the ball park was never destroyed to make way for a new one. Sometimes old is good. In fact, it often is. Maybe so, but we already know we have great fans. As do many other cities as well. Sunset at 4:41pm. That is the Buffalo winter-time bleakness I unfortunately remember all too well. That stuff will KILL YOU.
  11. Who could blame him though? LOL Speaking of dildos on the field at a home Patriots game--- I was just wondering the other day if one of these babies is going to see some action on Monday night. I think that would be awesome. Only address it to Jones, or BB, or whoever else. Keep the tradition alive!
  12. The thing is, the entire country thinks Buffalo is one long lasting blizzard from November to May, and WNYers know it just isn't that bad. But now we are going to get a HUGE football game with I would think a lot of national interest on Monday Night Football, and it sounds like the weather is going to be horrible! And it will only re-enforce our national identity as the place where the weather is horrible, every day of every winter of every year. God forbid it would be a gorgeous, unusually nice day with a high of 58 or something.
  13. Just as an aside, I want to mention that the Mets had contacted me first; I was offered $150 million for 3 years but I declined as I'm retired now. As I understand it, that is when they began to approach Scherzer.
  14. It's kind of a microcosm of the USA as a whole these days; the whole thing is controlled by a handful of mega wealthy individuals and corporations. The average fan is just going along for the ride, thinking he has something to do with it all. Yep, that has to be it; I remember the "losing" part too, which really added to the fun. I said "early '90s"---make that 1989. Would have been 18 years old and probably weighed @ 125 pounds then. Thanks.
  15. Some time in the early 1990s when we had the SB teams, New Orleans came to play in Orchard Park. I went with my dad. It was a freaking COLD and snowy day, I think in early December. There was so much snow "dusting" down on the field every few plays, at every commercial timeout a machine came out and sort of snowplowed the yard markers so you could see what was going on. I FROZE MY BUTT at that game, and was saved when we decided to go into a luxury box my dad had access to at halftime. We stayed in there for the 2nd half and it saved my life. I have sat through a LOT of horrific weather in that stadium in the name of supporting the Bills. Some time a long time ago, I vowed "NEVER AGAIN!" and that's how it's worked out. It helps living in FL these days; I don't have a lot of opportunity to freeze my ass off at home Bills games. The season starts a month too late, and ends probably 2 months too late.
  16. Two comments on this topic: 1) This reminds me very much of the Super Bowl years, where it felt like every season came down to the end of the year, and a critical game against Miami for the division title---a battle we ALWAYS won. 2) This pair of games against NE is the true rivalry/battle we NEVER HAD with them. It totally disappeared last year with COVID and Brady fleeing to TB. We were a much better team and there wasn't a lot on the line. We finally get some hugely important game against NE, but on equal footing, where both teams are strong and about the same. WE HAVEN'T SEEN THIS IN TWENTY YEARS! CAN'T WAIT FOR THE GAMES
  17. Please send your email to Sean McDermott. He's the only person I can think of who can actually apply your advice, to the real world, to achieve some sort of actual outcome. The rest of us here are just fans writing at a website. And I agree he needs to be aggressive, risk-taking, and offensive minded. Unfortunately, he is NONE of those things, by nature.
  18. New England is going to run the ball heavily, and make little dump-off passes all night long for 4-6 yards. BB will also figure out who our absolute worst DB is on the field post Tre injury, and throw at him as much as possible. We better have some plans in place, and be ready to switch out of them quickly if/when they don't work.
  19. 2021 vs. 2021, huh Sal? Interesting analysis.
  20. The infatuation with all things Patriots continues at TBD...
  21. Team had no interest in playing hockey last night, but for only the second time this season (by my count; I've seen every minute of every game). We used to mail it in like this every other game, so there is some improvement here. We are 3-10-2 over our last 15 games now, LOL. After the nice start, reality is setting in and we are quickly regressing to the mean.
  22. Wow, he's one of the most vicious sexual assaulters in US history (that we know of) and he's going to be out of the slammer. Nice.
  23. I just saw this thread title, and assumed it was new. I thought "He was? In ANOTHER ONE?" and started to laugh out loud. Then I realized this is old.
  24. My God, this board is utterly obsessed with the New England Patriots. The emotional damage that franchise has caused us over the last 20 years can't be overstated. 😱 Patrick Stewart? Big fan of the Shakespearean stage scene? Or just a Star Trek nerd?
