  1. I remember the game thread here for that game very well. Very early on, everyone participating broke into 2 camps. The first LOVED the game and snow and thought the whole thing was wild and great! The second group thought it was boring, lousy display of talent and should have been cancelled or moved. I was DEFINITELY in that second camp; that game sucked.
  2. That information wouldn't be known by the Bills at this time. I don't think the game is moving at all.
  3. There was a play in our game last week where Cousins scrambled and then took off trying to make it to the end zone. The replay showed his face up close and he clearly did NOT have any kind of mouthpiece in, and you could see him rolling his tongue inside his mouth and kind of biting on it, like an old bad habit someone would do when they are concentrating or something like that. He's lucky he didn't bite his tongue off. Michael Jordan used to do similar stuff all the time, but he didn't play football. These guys should all wear those mouth guards.
  4. I am just basing this on instinct, but I would suggest the game will NOT be moved. And that driving around WNY will be dicey on Sunday morning. It will be up to each individual to decide how bad they want to get out there for the game. I think the stadium will be a LONG way from full. Maybe even half full, depending on what the storm does and when and where it does it.
  5. Regarding your college team on Saturday: go online and find all the radio stations that are part of that school's radio network. There are probably a bunch of them, but it is probably somewhat geographically limited. And then compare those stations with your driving route and see if there is any overlap. You need satellite radio and some sort of subscription to your college and the Bills' games!
  6. Just heard the last 12 games between Ottawa and Sabres have been decided by at least 2 goals. Not sure what to make of that.
  7. And very aggressive too. That's not a McDermott thing, that's a Buffalo Bills Analytics Department thing. McDermott has nothing to do with that stuff.
  8. Is that the same sort of dome? The Carrier Dome (or whatever they call it now) is one of those weird things where the roof is a flexible fabric of sorts and it's help up with internal air pressure; if you open all the doors the roof will deflate. Maybe that has something to do with it? Is that how Detroit is?
  9. This (at least a lot of it) seems more realistic to me than the OP's prediction that we finish #1. I don't see that happening at this point, but it still could. As long as we find a way to get into the playoffs, we should be OK. We will have to throw a switch and go back to lights out Bills play and if we do, we'll beat everyone save KC, and we can beat them too. I would not be surprised to see a loss this Sunday against Cleveland. It will be interesting to see how we play, and who is playing particular on D. We will struggle to control their run game and their D has been good against traditional shotgun offenses like the Bills. They have had problems with lots of motion and play action---stuff we don't do very much of at all. And then you have the potential weather wild card as well, which only serves to lessen the gap between teams, and that favors Cleveland in this situation as we are the better team.
  10. I've been in there many times over the years for baseball, and the annual auto show. It's an interesting piece of engineering, but it SUCKS as a venue for anything.
  11. You can wave a magic wand and have Barry Sanders in his prime and it still may not help. If there are no holes to run through, no one is going to look very good running.
  12. I just got off the phone with McDermott, assuring him that I'm ready to go. He said it's just a general malaise over there. Nothing serious.
  13. Tre White still not practicing, though listed as "full participant." Sal thinks even McDermott is hinting at the idea that it's all Tre keeping himself back, not the team or medical staff. Sal suggested even McDermott may be a bit frustrated and that the whole process is getting kind of strange. It's like when is this guy going to play?
  14. I'm all on board with moving Mittelstadt. He started out for a while as a total zero. Then he had a mini renaissance and came back to camp a couple years ago as a much more mature and better player. But then it didn't go anywhere and his play is just "blah". He doesn't really do anything. There was a time during this phase when one of our tanking competitors was COLORADO! And Calgary! And other teams that have advanced 1000% beyond the Sabres, but that is because we have already had a couple of failed rebuilds. It has only started to come together under Adams (amazingly) as GM and the current coach. It's almost unfair to judge development going much further back than them. GMTM did a hell of a job of setting us back literally a period of years. Well, if you were the GM or HC, you would like to be judged 3 years from now too! 😂
  15. Guy looks pretty good in the photos for 100! Knows how to have a good time. He would have been 20 in 1942. He's "perfectly" aged to have been in WWII; must be a veteran. He has to have some good stories. 100 years of chasing women!
  16. I'm getting the damned Jets/NE game down here instead of the Bills.
  17. The division games could be a loss; those are always tough. Bengals could beat them too.
  18. It might be cold and windy, but it sounds like the snow should be done falling by game time. So then the issue is how well the field has been cleared and all that. I would imagine they'll get it cleared by game time, unless it's constantly showing.
  19. I will watch every match of the tournament. Can't wait. Disappointed in the choice of QATAR which will definitely dampen the fun. Still can't believe my Italy is not in the tournament, which kind of kills the fun of it for me before it even begins. Just did this 4 years ago too! LOL Will be shifting my cheering interests to my 2nd team: Deutschland. We have cool home jerseys for this one:
  20. Yeah, this was a terrible loss tonight. Vancouver is a mess right now and we just didn't have it. Give up 5 at home to the Canucks? Get out of here with that. Really disappointed in this team; I thought we would bust the losing streak tonight. Maybe tomorrow in Kanata.
  21. Is there some reason why all those curses are mutually exclusive? Maybe we are all cursed. There isn't a hill of beans difference between the Cleveland Browns and Buffalo Bills, historically speaking. We both seem like irrelevant, cursed franchises. There are many such franchises in N. American major league sports. Which is why I am always perplexed at how much Bills fans love to make fun of Cleveland. It's like making fun of your own brother.
  22. Nah, that's a pretty solid dumping, even by WNY standards. A messy, snowy game definitely favors the Browns. And with their running game, and our running defense, it has the makings of a seriously tragic game. I just pray we can eek out a win, an ugly win, any kind of win, any way we can. I'm not looking for style points this week! Just a "W."
  23. For some reason, we all seem to love the snow and cold, when we are kids. I have many memories of being outside so long in "snow forts" that my frigging feet AND hands were borderline numb....and then eventually you'd reluctantly go inside to warm up. It also helps that the winters were much worse when I was a kid in the '70s and '80s. We would get lots of snow and it would stay there all winter long. My buddy's father built a really professional ice rink in the back yard and it stayed there all winter; we played hockey almost every day. Now I think it would melt in a few days.
  24. Oh. I want things to be absolutely as easy as possible to give us the highest possible chances to win. If every opposing starting QB this year got injured before we played them, so that we only played backups, I'd be ecstatic.
  25. If there was an issue, you are the sort of fan who would be the last to accept it. There were a LOT of die hard Sabres fans at Sabres forums saying "HAVE PATIENCE" until the day Ron Rolston (!) was fired...and they would argue until blue in the face that the organization was in good hands. That was quite a few coaches ago and many years! Meanwhile, the Sabres still haven't made the playoffs, likely will not this season, and we are still waiting to get out of the wilderness. I always think of those Sabres "have patience" posts with freaking Ron Rolston, who is nowhere close to coaching now in the NHL, and ranks as a Top 3 worst HC in Sabres history. It gets frustrating for those of us who are into reality, objectivity, and just discussing things as they are, regardless of whether or not they are what we would like to be.
