Will Bills Make it to Detriot Rested for the Game?
Nextmanup replied to Rich Stadium Original's topic in The Stadium Wall
Yeah, I think he was. Wo, it's like, take a step back man and take a few deep breaths. It's going to be OK. -
OK chief, you have it figured out. PS: I agree McDermott is a classic, conservative, football coach, but it's a BAD THING.

Not sure that is 100% true. The way to read between the lines here is to listen to the things Tre has personally said during his rehab and listen to the now almost daily things McDermott says about his situation. It would very easy for McDermott to say "Look, we went the route we did with him so it would be legal for him to practice with the team...he is medically cleared but he is NOT READY to play in a game. We want to get him up to speed slowly in practice and when he is ready to go, you'll see him in a game." And that would have KILLED the "controversy" about him before it started. But McDermott has NOT SAID THAT. Why not? Instead, he has said things implying "NO no, we (the Bills coaching staff) think he is absolutely ready to play in the game, but he is going to be a healthy scratch...again." He hasn't flat out said that either, but he's implied it. Something fishy is going on. Tre is going through some type of psychological/mental problem and McDermott just doesn't wasn't to address it publicly for whatever reason. He could say it in a diplomatic way to let us know what's going on, without betraying any of Tre's confidence in the team. How about McDermott simply saying "He's healthy; he's ready to play; but he's going through some mental things right now and he needs time to get through them. Until he gets through this, he won't be playing in games. The whole organization is right here with him to help him get through this." How about that McDermott? The whole thing is just SO FREAKING STUPID, like most NFL football related stuff.

Maybe he can rise to the challenge; I don't see it. UPL's career has gone sideways and if it he can't do it now, when is he going to do it?

The way Brent Mussberger fawned all over her during a bowl game broadcast (wasn't it?) was an all time-classic. He was like "Oh my! Look at that woman! What a gorgeous woman! And his mom too!" It was borderline inappropriate THEN and NOW it would not have been tolerated, unfortunately. They would have forced Mussberger into making some type of public comment/apology making it clear that he respects women for who they are and he doesn't simply objectify them, or some such. LOL -
I love the concept, but the execution needs a little more work. He needed to build up more of a pile of cash before he pulled the plug. I honestly wonder if this is what Tre White is going through right now. A while go he said some weird stuff about using his rehab period to re-think things, see a different side of life, get away from the football culture, spend time with his family (he's married and has a kid or 2) and so on... He's also got plenty of money to last all of them (and their children, and their children's children) forever. Why get out there at turn your brain into mush? Why not walk away now? I wonder if this is his hurdle that he has to overcome. Like he can't make himself play in a game right now, but intends to get over this. The team is working with him and patiently awaiting him to get it together. Seriously, this could be it. Sounds a bit "conspiracy theory" but something odd is going on with him.

I'm much more interested in his wife. What's she up to? Are they divorced yet? -
I wouldn't even think of drinking alcohol while watching a Bills game. Watching a live Bills game is one of my absolute favorite things to do in life, and I want to do it sober. I would say 70% (?) of "fans" who go to the stadiums are there for an experience and are morons looking for an excuse to drink. I don't need an excuse for drinking! Drinking is for drinking, watching football is for football. I will watch every single match of the WC tournament, and not have a sip of alcohol during any of it; wouldn't even think to do it. Imagine that! American football definitely appeals to the lowest rung of the American socio-economic ladder, for some reason. Go spend some time at the Sabres forum--hockey is a different sport and it attacts a TOTALY different demographic in the fanbase. Most folks over there actually know how to spell, seemingly have college educations, and are solid writers. Imagine that!

UPL has been below par against AHL talent....he's going to have a rough time And it sounds like Comrie will be out for 2 or 3 weeks. This could be the stretch that officially kills our season (as in chance to make playoffs). Out of it by early December (again) would suck.

As someone who grew up and spent the first nearly 30 years of my life in Buffalo, and who has SHOVELED TONS of snow (never had a snowblower at OUR house, and never paid anyone to plow either!)... ...I hope to GOD YOU ARE F-ING JOKING. GET A GRIP MAN. You think these prima Donnas are going to shovel 5 feet? They are probably being picked up by private car if driving is possible. -
I have to say: Dawson Knox in this, with his stupid haircut and yokel accent comes across like your classic redneck hillbilly who is beyond stupid. "Gee ya'll, I don't know; has somethin' to do with snow I reckon" Born in Brentwood Tennessee. Jesus Christ.

Add the entire process involving the sale of tickets for this game onto the list of classic Bills cockups. Thanks a lot, Buffalo Bills! Reminds me of days past when the team was good and tickets went on sale for the new season on Day X at time Y. The rule was SHOW UP IN PERSON at windows at the stadium and PAY CASH ONLY if you want tickets. LOL And people flocked there like sheep and did it.

A portion of fans here complain about the OC all the time, no matter who he is, or what the Bills are doing! It's the easiest scapegoat in the football world. -
This forum is predominantly made up of Bills fans no longer living in WNY. That is my take, at least. Tons of out of towners here who live not too far from Detroit and figure "what the hell, I can drive" so they are interested in tickets. And they are not impacted by the snow in WNY. NO DOUBT, there are lots of WNYers who are going to try to get to the game too! How they plan to do that with road closures, etc., I don't know. My advice is get up into Canada as fast as possible (if possible) and get to Detroit through southern Ontario on the right side of the lake where there is no snow.

I totally agree; think he's have a HUGE game and our run D will continue to strike fear into the hearts of Bills fans. And yet we will win by 20 points...if Josh shows up and plays his "A" game. If he plays like crap yet agin, we'll lose, and this place will explode.

Let's assume, for the sake of argument, that you are dead on correct. McDermott cannot win a championship because he's not a championship winning caliber coach. And that over the next 5 seasons (beyond 2022) he will NOT win a championship. Rolling into that 2028 season, the people who are supporting him here, now, would be supporting him then. It's just what they do. By the same token, if we fired McDermott this off-season, and his replacement wins a SB in 2 years, it would become commonly acceptable around here to throw out McDermott jokes, with the butt of the joke being McDermott's incompetence. So really, you can't win.
-
Yeah, that's basically right as I understand it too. Had they shelved him for 4 additional games, he could NOT participate in practice at all. Presumably, they want him to be able to practice before playing, so they went this route. That all makes perfect sense. Here's the rub! Explaining all that would have taken McDermott 5 seconds at any one of these recent press conferences where the theme has been "what's going on with Tre?" All he had to do is explain what you/I have just referenced, and explained that the team wants to ramp Tre up a bit at a time before he hits the ground running in a real game. AND YET HE HAS NOT DONE THAT! NOTHING! Instead, he's staying tight lipped, saying some odd things, and letting people grow their own suspicions as to what's happening for real. Which is I why I said up-thread I think there is basically some type of psychological issue going on with Tre and they just don't want to talk about that. It's like the Bills know he is medically OK, they think he is "ready" to go with practicing and reps, but yet Tre doesn't want to play, so he doesn't play. In fact, he was designated "OUT" as of Friday! The last few games they didn't do that; it was more a game time decision to scratch him. SO he's a healthy scratch yet again as of a Friday before a Sunday game. What's going on here?

I heard earlier that they had in excess of 50" of new snowfall in Orchard Park as of like 4pm Friday. Not sure where people are coming up with "not as bad as expected." The blizzard of '77 was nothing like that; we already had lots of snow on the ground and the blizzard blew it around. Fresh snowfall was minimal in comparison! -
Call me crazy, but I bet there are at least a few hip night-spot areas that are more than safe to visit. The city is still pretty big--I suspect people can go out and have fun without fear of losing their lives. Folks watch too much news and have a skewed perspective on reality. This is why most of this country thinks the snow Buffalo is getting right now happens every day of the year.

Needs a pair of boots and some winter gear too FFS. Some of these guys from the South...they must feel like they are on Mars right now. Hamlin is from the Pittsburgh area! He should know what snow looks like and be a little bit better prepared. Obviously they have looked into all this, have it more or less figured out, and it's just NOT going to be a big deal, despite everyone here continually trying to make it so. In last week's game, they said that the last time a Bills team lost at home with that big a lead at halftime was in like 1968! So of course, we lost.

Look like they have combined Buffalo and Watertown as one giant snow receiving city. Which makes sense; most Americans think Buffalo gets the type of snow that Watertown gets. Although this year, they're right. That's about how it works. Hit or miss. Location matters! Except for the storms when it doesn't matter, and EVERYONE gets hammered. Those happen too.
