The Buffalo Bills are AFC East Champions for the 3rd straight season
Nelius replied to Einstein's topic in The Stadium Wall
I had to have multiple conversations about Brian Moorman and Aaron Schobel being our best players in my life. Brian Moorman and Aaron Schobel vs. Josh Allen, Stefon Diggs, etc. Sheesh. Was at the Vikings home debacle next to a bunch of young fans and they get it though. The Game Day Thread vs. actual Game Day Attendance is night and day. This team is locked and loaded for years. We're pretty much Baltimore Ravens status now, although clearly better. To ignore the ongoing AFC dominance is foolish. We haven't even fully unlocked James Cook yet. Be excited -
Week 16, 12/24/2022, Bills v. Bears, GAME BALLS
Nelius replied to Freddie's Dead's topic in The Stadium Wall
Right?! I've actually heard that he's too slow to take the 9 yard runs that he's opened up to the house, meaning that people seemingly forget the 9 yard run that he opened up? He's so quick. Nobody but Tony Pollard nowadays is actually hitting 40 yard rushing TDs. Motor is weirdly ahead of the game in how resourceful of a RB he is. 4 years from now every team's gonna want a Devin Singletary. -

Motor still, to this day, after 653 carries in the NFL, has a 4.6 yard per carry average. That is so elite. There's no other way to classify it. He's a very good NFL running back. Put him on a team that needs consistent carries from one source and he's got multiple 1k seasons. -

Leslie Frazier. Seriously. Fields had 11 yards on the ground, his worst of the season. If you're a top offensive talent then you're going to have a bad day against Buffalo - Chubb, Tyreek Hill, now Fields. This is more recent than earlier but we are extremely solid at shutting down the premier opposing offensive talent. Also Big Ed, Motor, Young Cook, and our entire makeshift offensive line. I know Chicago sucks but 250 on the ground with O-line backups is awesome. Many still don't understand how deep this team is against a generally understocked NFL. -
NFL Week # 16 - Bills at Bears - post game thread
Nelius replied to BuffaloBill's topic in The Stadium Wall
Late shout out to Leslie Frazier for completely dismantling Justin Fields' running game. 11 yards. His worst rushing game of the season. Frazier has shown a late season knack for nullifying the best offensive talent - did it to Chubb, did it to Hill, now Fields. He's got his flaws and this wasn't always the case earlier, but this defense has shown recently that they can completely quiet the top offensive force on the team. Very important down the pipe considering Travis Kelce, JaMarr Chase, Henry, etc. -
Not to be discounted, this is once again a pretty solid example of Frazier taking away their clearly best offensive force. Fields has 1k rushing yards on the season - he had 11 today. Frazier similarly took away Chubb and Tyreek Hill recently. Clear offensive top talent nullified. I raised this after the Miami game and the contrarians shouted about earlier season miscues which they were correct about, but this is emerging as a late season trend - Buffalo is succeeding at completely removing the opponent's primary offensive force from the equation, forcing them to rely on secondary options. I like it.

I loved today’s game found a new way to win

Also wasn't worried about Josh Allen against an inferior opponent (clearly yes) in -15 degree weather. This is the trap game that many good teams lose - you're on the road, the elements suck, it doesn't really matter. And they still walked away easily by capitalizing on the run. Josh got that mop-up TD as well, he didn't even suffer that terribly statistically. Up to 4k with 32 passing TDs and the try-hards are still doing their thing lol. -

Let’s just take a second to recognize that in response to that TD, that “Einstein” instead hunted for that tweet. Don’t be fooled by the passive aggressive midweek analysis. Dude is a troll. -

We have weapons we don’t even use that often and it’s zero degrees out. Calm down. 12-3 is 12-3 even if it doesn’t pass some dork’s eye test. -
NFL Week # 16 - Bills at Bears - 1st half game thread

Agreed. Hopefully we can further agree that calling him a mediocre QB that “doesn’t pass the eye test” is a bit of an overreaction, and that’s ignoring the weather. -

This thread is extra hilarious today. Think I’ve read every over reaction in the book in the last 5 mins. Some dude even called Allen mediocre lmfao -
Gesicki has no poker face and honestly comes across as a bit slow and unprofessional at this point. He's been unhappy since last season with his usage. He's got some talent but at this point the Fish might just be retaliating against his constant distraction.

I'm on the Lawrence bandwagon and think he could potentially still be even better than Herbert. Herbert's sort of putting the right numbers together but he's got the best orchestrated dump off valve with Ekeler in the league and he's not making the impact that Lawrence is. I feel like Lawrence's size and physicality is still underrated, maybe the overall Jaguars goofiness and long hair throw people off when it comes to his physical traits. He's probably really the closest thing to a Josh Allen maniac counterpart if he can put it all together. Like Venom vs. Carnage. The excitement is warranted.
-
I understand everything man I just completely disagree. I think they're far more than one blue chip QB away. They're 7-8 on the season, 1-4 in their last five, with a lame point differential. They're the Raiders of the AFC East with (gasp) worse WR's and a worse pass rush. It's a very good roster if you're starting a Madden franchise a year ago. It's not delivering in reality.
-
The franchise QB failures mean there's potentially a systemic problem with scouting or heck and/or from the top down. You're the one acting like they're just going to conveniently pick up Josh Allen Jr. in the next year or two, with their current roster intact. That's the ultimate hurdle, franchise QBs aren't guaranteed. They always have a really bad QB. But I also disagree with pretty much everything else you've said.
-
OK? So perhaps we're in agreement then. He's the legend so maybe you kick Herbstreit to the curb and try to inject some life, but his listless commentary this year has been a hard listen. Maybe he doesn't like Herbstreit, there's always that angle.
-
A Super Bowl? C'mon man. Both Moore and Mims wanted off the team just less than 2 months ago. They've got a trio of flashy young players in Gardner, Wilson, and Hall that I think injects a lot more hype than is legitimate. Their defense is not the brick wall that Saleh fanboys want it to be and they're 7-8 for more reasons than their extremely sub-par QB play. Also, it's not like a franchise QB just inevitably drifts toward you. As if they're just guaranteed one in the next couple of years while they have their current roster. Their increasingly long list of QB misses is part of the reason why they're still a mess. Why the confidence that they're going to suddenly get it right any time soon?

Herbstreit is insanely boring but he's honestly been providing more content than Michales this year. Al sounds effing depressed or medicated.

Treatment of opposing team fans(your experience)
Nelius replied to PatsFanNH's topic in The Stadium Wall
I've found Broncos fans to be kind of prickly and contentious. Way more than other fanbases. I've been to two games against the Bills at Mile High and while nobody was in my face like that Raiders Karen, there was a lot of borderline not funny talk and just a general heavy air like these people do not want us sitting here right now. Got probably half a beer tossed on my back after a Denver touchdown although it was disguised as nearby celebration, and honestly could have been. They also get very drunk. Not football, but a friend and I got pretty much chased out of The Pepsi Center (Ball Arena) after a Sabres/Avs games years ago. Sabres got destroyed like 7-1 but we stayed for the whole thing. We exited through some packed stair well, wearing Sabres gear, and there were probably 20 drunk dudes behind us screaming "F New York" and throwing plastic bottles. More and more started joining in so we kind of just booked it as soon as we got downstairs. -
Pouring one out for all of the gamblers that suddenly thought Zay Jones was good tonight. The Jets are still a mess, sorry. Don't care how good some talking heads think Saleh or that WR room could be.

Yup. Looking Kelvin Benjamin like recently. I fell for it. Thought playing with Aaron Rodgers with only rookie competition would result in at least a few gift TDs. Nope.

Wouldn't It Be Cool If Knox Keeps Emerging?
Nelius replied to Richard Noggin's topic in The Stadium Wall
It's what we expected right? If I'm following correctly he's still on his rookie deal and then is inching toward top-5 money next year, before new deals anyway. His rate is higher than a Hunter Henry or Mike Gesicki anyway. I think he has the potential to be kind of a big deal. Top TE in the AFC East potential. We banked on him and Gabe emerging and both still have a lot of questions but the Dawson run the last couple of weeks has been great to see. And Gabe could go off for 2+ TD in a playoff game. This feels like a great time to point out Mark Sanchez trying to make an awkward, sweaty Dawson's Creek reference over the weekend that made zero sense whatsoever. Knox caught a perfectly normal pass and Sanchez the Brainiac said something to the extent of "Dawson Knox...Dawson's Creek...you can count on him". Thanks for the effort, Buttfumble.
