  1. A guy that played for 1 half and dropped an easy INT was the best defender in the league ? Color me skeptical I thought he had a decent game. Couple nice pass breakups and generally a good job in coverage. He did drop that INT though. I'm not buying the narrative that the DEF did so much worse with Edmunds out. Vikings offense scored 10 points in the 1st half (Edmunds playing). Vikings offense scored 13 points in the 2nd half (Edmunds not playing). And as far as a sample size of our DEF playing with or without Edmunds. The only game he missed this year was against the Steelers. I don't think we missed him that game.
  2. I'd be pretty surprised if the 1-7-1 Texans don't finish dead last. I agree- Hughes looked pretty old and done in Buffalo the past few seasons. I never would've guessed he would have 8 sacks halfway through the season
  3. The 4th and 2 decision to go for it wasn't a bad one. The win probability of going for it vs taking the FG was a <1% difference. Imagine the uproar here if we take the FG and the Vikings go on to score 2 TDs and win by 1. The few play calls leading up to that 4th down were concerning, as was our disappearing run game in the 2nd half. I'm not sure how much of that is on the offense play-calling being aggressive, or how much of it is because we CAN'T run the ball as our O-Line is TERRIBLE.
  4. 1-4 in 2017 we beat the 3-10 Colts in the snow game in OT. Insanely lucky to get the win when we punted with 4 minutes left in OT. Since then we've lost to the Texans (playoff game), Bucs, Chiefs (playoff game), and now Vikings. Edit to add coin flips: We won the flip vs Colts and Bucs.
  5. We traded a healthy scratch in Moss and a 6th round pick for Hines to be our 3rd string RB. Not sure why so many posters had big expectations for him.
  6. The Vikings offense scored 10 points in the first half with Edmunds playing. They scored 13 points in the 2nd half with Edmunds out. I'm not seeing much of a correlation....
  7. I'll agree that taking an intentional safety there would've been a ludicrously bad choice. Johnston is a complete moron for even suggesting it. Now for the actual play call of QB sneak? There's some debate there I think. The Vikes were 100% selling out on the sneak and very well may have forced a safety (if there wasn't a fumble). Our o-line was getting caved all day (again)
  8. I did notice him drop a pretty easy INT. I'm not sure that being better than Dodson means he deserves a big contract. The defense really missed him in the Steelers game...
  9. Or the Chiefs, Eagles, Bucs (Fournette had big playoff games at least). The top RBs very rarely have playoff success. It's all about the QB position
  10. The goal line stands were nice, but allowing 481 yards and 26 points is not a winning recipe. It's easy to blame it on Allen and the turnovers, but the defense was really bad today. The 81 yard Cook TD and 4th and 18 to JJ were equally as bad as the goal line fumble and end of OT int
  11. We were already up by 2 scores. Kicking a FG when you're up 10 to go up 13 doesn't change that. I liked the decision to go for it there.
  12. The defense absolutely let the Jets go up and down the field. The Jets 32:44 of TOP from the game would be #1 in the league if they averaged that per game. TOP is a team stat and can be negatively effected by a teams offense going 3 and out. The Bills offense had 4 drives of 4+ minutes and 2 short drives (the 2 ints). They did not have a 3 and out that resulted in a punt. I think it's fair to place the majority of the blame for TOP on the defense and their inability to stop the run, or a Jets drive in general. This was easily the worst game of the year by the Bills DEF (especially if we're considering the opponent). All things considered it wasn't a terrible performance by the DEF - just a bad one. The offense was also bad
  13. In a tie game the Bills offense punting with 8 minutes left from mid-field is "blowing it", but the defense giving up an 84 yard 6 minute FG drive (including all 3 Bills timeouts and 2 minute warning) is "getting a stop and giving the offense another chance" ? Bills played pretty poorly on both sides of the ball. I don't know why people are bending over backwards to forgive the defense.
  14. I think the question is if this particular guy would have had access to that info while on the Bills. Mayden spent less than a month on our practice squad. Would he really know more about the Bills playcalling/signals than the opposition could learn from watching film ?
  15. It's pretty easy to focus on Allen's ints and ignore that our defense was just as bad as the offense in the Jets game. The Jets had 3 different drives of 13+ plays. The DEF mitigated the damage in terms of points allowed, but our offense only had 9 possessions (2 of those starting with <2 minutes left in either half). For comparison: the Chiefs DEF allowed 17 points, but the Chiefs offense had 12 possessions in regulation.
  16. There was enough mutual contact that I'm ok with a no-call. Ironically, Josh would've been better off underthrowing it by 1-2 yards. If Davis had to fight through the defender (who never turned his head) the refs would've been forced to call PI
  17. Reich was 3-5-1 and had them playing well enough to (probably) finish with a pick in the 6-10 range. It's hard to see the Colts winning another game this year with Saturday as HC.
  18. Yes, looks like it was this play. 1st & 10 at NYJ 12 (6:24 - 1st) (Shotgun) J.Allen to NYJ 19 for -7 yards (S.Rankins). FUMBLES (S.Rankins), and recovers at NYJ 18. J.Allen sacked at NYJ 14 for -2 yards (sack split by J.Sherwood and K.Alexander). I missed it yesterday, but Josh shakes his head pretty hard after the tackle. It's possible he was looking over to the sideline (or another player) and shaking his head "no" in response to something. It's also possible he has a lingering concussion and got his bell rung.
  19. I think the Chiefs are doing just fine. Patrick Mahomes worst season was 12 wins and losing the AFCCG in OT. Tom Brady really hurt his career by doing commercials. 7 SB rings is cool and all, but he could've had double digits if he wasn't distracted by commercials! A A Ron and the Packers suck this year. He did win back to back MVPs the last 2 years while starring in commercials, so I don't think that's the reason for the sudden decline. It might have more to do with Adams leaving and not drafting any quality WR.
  20. Do you know what quarter or drive this happened in?
  21. The hold was fine. Bass had a ridiculously low kick that was almost guaranteed to be tipped/blocked
  22. I thought simultaneous catch was a judgement call and therefore not reviewable. I'm not entirely sure if that was the ruling on the field or not
  23. Bass is 12 / 15 for the year on FGs with misses of 38 (Dolphins), 49 (Steelers), and 55 (Jets). It's not a stretch to say that Bass cost us both the Dolphins and the Jets games. Although it's probably not fair to blame him when the misses happened early in the games and so many other players made costly mistakes. The kick offs out of bounds are a concern as well, but I blame that on coaching. Can we please stop ***** around with these high, short kicks and just have Bass boot it for a touchback? I don't think we're at the point where we need to consider dropping Bass this season, but I do think Beane will have some pondering to do this offseason.
  24. Nice analysis! I didn't consider that Jaquan should've been blitzing.
