  1. With how rain and snow angle in the wind, NO ONE is going to be covered by that “awning.”
  2. As for why there were different styles at the same time, my guess would be that there were leftover 2s and as the equipment guys had to change out worn numbers — they were HTV (heat transfer vinyl) then — they just used what they had in stock, or were told to / had a tacit understanding to do that from above before new #s were ordered. So, yes, it was literally a “Ralph is cheap” deal. By the by, I’m trying to do a jersey rehab on a 90s Jim Kelly jersey, as some of the layering of the numbers peeled in the wash. Ordered some new adhesive backed tackle twill iron-and-then-sew-on numbers on eBay. Getting that vinyl off 30 years later is a £€^%ing bear! Even with acetone, it’s extremely slow going.
  3. It was tough following the Bills just in Connecticut(!) in the early 1990s — can’t imagine what it must have been in Italy. I did summers in WNY at the maternal family’s dairy farm helping with haying & firewood and spending time with cousins, so that’s how I started my Bills fandom. Back in CT, it was the rare game on broadcast television… vs. the Patriots* or when they got prime time on the schedule. The rest of the time was just spent watching the ticker and praying for a larger number for our boys the next time it came around, and halftime & postgame highlights. Then getting the newspaper on Monday to pore over the box score statistics and maybe three sentences in a game recap. We were so at the mercy of so many overlords for just getting basic access or information in those days. The internet and faster data transfer changed everything so much for the better… maybe most of all finding this place from its earliest days and following through all of the times it changed venues until SDS cemented TBD as its own entity. Through the drought, I can’t begin to say how much effort and frustration it was to find games online once internet 2.0 video was a thing. And now with the age of HD streaming it’s like there’s no comparison. I just watched a UConn men’s hockey game last night on ESPN+ and it’s like… wow. Unless the power goes out or the rare time when Internet is down, kids today will never know the struggle of fandom from a distance. Great to have you here from 🇮🇹!
  4. Sweet to be getting these games on the ESPN+ now! They also carry my alma mater’s men’s games in the Hockey East. 🏒 in HD / 4K is awesome!
  5. Yes, but you can add layers and have heaters for warmth. You can’t take off enough layers in heat / sun, and disallowing shade / air conditioning efforts bc the Phins aren’t using it is terrible policy.
  6. Maybe because their concrete isn’t failing. I mean… in Buffalo the stuff they poured in the renovation in 2013(?) is going to pieces, if you look at the BN’s photos from that story several months ago. Buffalo weather is different than KC’s. Stuff just seems to break down faster. Also, they may have the wider concourses and such, or were able to upgrade those in reno.
  7. Thought the sideline reporter said they brought out the cart, but Spencer waved it off and walked back to the sideline and then locker room.
  8. I know someone whose family (his dad was a CEO of a not-small but not-big company) had an oceanfront summer house up in the Cape Cod town where the Krafts summered, and sometimes babysat for their kids. The stories, as is so often the case of the rich, show how big of an * Kraft was. But his love for his wife Martha(?) was very real. Even though she was thrice more an * than he was. And yet everyone in the media just talks about how nice she was, either because that’s the mask she wore in public or they just brown-nose to maintain their access because what difference does the truth make(?). As I do for so many things these days, all I offer is a “Whatever 🤷‍♂️.”
  9. The comment AJE made seems to be what set him off. And while Hussy is supposed to be impartial and the cooler head on the field… yes, McD is going to be none too pleased. I read in a spot piece that now including this one, there have been 5 ejections in the league this year. Hussy has done two now, both in the last two weeks. Not a great look for him either, but the ref union closes ranks and holds grudges, which we saw firsthand with JH. Would have been a wiser move for AJ to just apologize post-game.
  10. Special Teams aren’t, so far. Taiwan Jones needs to kiss Gabe right on the *. WTF is this guy doing on the roster at like 35 years old if he can’t even field a KO?
  11. It would have made geographic sense. Absolutely. But it wouldn’t have been right in any other sense.
  12. Yes, but the Boston market is usually blacked out from a CBS game in the same time slot when the Pats* are on FOX. Promo, do you get WPRI, the CBS out of Providence? The Bills-Ravens was on there yesterday, and I would bet they’re carrying the marquee matchup, given this slate. Hartford CBS will carry the Jests, I’m certain. Slight chance Providence does too because it’s Jets-Dolphins as an AFCEast division game.
  13. It may just be my eyes, but Cook has just looked SLOW when he’s gotten the ball (mostly in the garbage time vs TENN). This is both in hesitation and in how fast he’s running out there. SLOOOW.
  14. What would be the deal with PITT starting Trubitsky? He has familiarity of our system, seeing it in practice all last year, but we have familiarity with him. Is that a wash?
  15. It might take the legal system of another country to finally DO something about this clown. This is what happens when people with severe behavior issues never get checked because they can throw, catch, kick, etc. an inflated ball. Thrown out of college? Wah. Slap on the wrist of probation in FL. Send him to prison for a few years and see what he learns.
  16. Not the Bills, but Northwestern Univ. (near Chicago) released renderings of their new stadium today. The new Ryan Field will cost ~$800M and have a capacity of 35K, which is a downsize from the current field’s 47K. Looks kinda similar to what is said to be the design for us, with the awning over most seats. Are we going to have to go to three tiers to fit 60K? (Also, fer chrissake, 204KB is the biggest image size allowed here and it kinda sucks to have to do the photo-compress app three times before it’s small enough. 204KB is insanely small & crappy quality these days. Sorry to vent, but…)
  17. How soon we forget Korey Stringer. His family created a sports science center at my alma mater UConn after he died of exertional heat stroke in 2001 after a Vikings training camp practice where the heat index was 99* (and reached 110* that day). How the league can continue to schedule mid-day games in Miami & Tampa (tho, yesterday’s game there had a 4:30 start) in the early part of the season just takes a poop on the notion that they care about player safety.
  18. The final play. McKenzie juked for an extra yard for 8 seconds instead of just dropping to the ground. We would’ve had time for the spike a the FG try.
  19. Also McKenzie not just dropping to the ground after the last catch, rather than trying to juke for an extra yard for 8 seconds. If he doesn’t do that, we have a FG try. His situational awareness leaves a lot to be desired. Probably why Dorsey was pissed in the booth.
  20. Besides the common sense in having multiple egresses off the field, this is another reason to have separate entrances for the visitor and home locker rooms in the new stadium.
