If you thought we get almost no DPI/Holding calls
UConn James replied to Big Blitz's topic in The Stadium Wall
Flagged for patting his own teammate. IIRC, the penalty stuck. They didn’t pick the flag up. True BS. But, yes, after JH’s altercation with the ref in the tunnel postgame that time, he was a marked man. The refs union hated him with a passion. Following, we didn’t get much consideration for any little thing on D or on O unless fouls against us were egregious. We were punished for him still being on the team, and I think there’s still animus against McD from the zebras for keeping JH around. You will not convince me otherwise. -

And one of the three was the phantom one with no time left vs. the Giants. Every team with single digit PI calls per year but it was too much for the refs to review, right?! F them AND the league that allowed the refs to give a huge 🖕to any questioning of their ‘judgment calls.’ One of the biggest ways scores & outcomes can be influenced to either make games more watchable (ad $) or to please Vegas & gambling. -
The Bills have over $10 million in cap space- what is Beane’s plan?
UConn James replied to Pete's topic in The Stadium Wall
And if he doesn’t end up using it, it can be carried over into next season’s cap number. As this is a mini-rebuild year, it might be good to see what we have in the cupboards before doing more shopping. Then 2025 the window should be fully open again. -

Yes, I guess I was the “actuaalllllyyyyy” guy in this instance. I’ve followed the UniWatch page for a long time. There was a story awhile back about a quarterback who wanted his particular helmet that was no longer being manufactured iirc and when he was signed by another team, he had to buy the helmet from that team for ~$1500 iirc and the new team had it painted, did decals, etc. And yeah, I’m on the autism spectrum where we know and share details. I thought it might add something / some understanding to the topic & conversation. That it’s not “free sh-t that the team pays for.” Do you want make it a thing? 👍. Some of us “cheer for the laundry” as Seinfeld says.

Jerseys, footballs, helmets, etc. are not free for the players to take personally. They pay the team for them / it comes out of their check. And the on-field uni stuff is more expensive than even fan “authentic” items. I’m not sure how it works for colleges. ESPN: Derrick Henry holds off on jersey swaps because of cost | November 2023

Best choice for him & UConn & the Lakers probably. I don’t watch / follow NBA but the Lakers have gone through coaches like crazy. He’d last two years there before getting fired for things that are systemic. Or he could stay at UConn and be a legend. Hmmmm. Going to be tougher this year with four starters going pro. But when you’ve won two champs and have the facilities and legacy of UConn, recruiting gets easier. Clingan should’ve stayed another year to season some more. He’s going to rue it when he’s playing in the development league and then falls into obscurity. He could’ve made as much $ in NIL as he’ll make there.

Video: https://www.instagram.com/reel/C79lolYuOQL/?igsh=aWNrOW44c3lhaHVt They’re starting some pre-cast concrete installation. About 1,400 pre-cast pieces forming the bowl and to the upper decks that will support the canopy. Awesome! Pre-cast is like big Lego. It should start getting more of a stadium shape. (I don’t know how to or if Insta can be embedded.) -
New Viking Uniforms look pretty cool
UConn James replied to Dablitzkrieg's topic in The Stadium Wall
The demand is there for the Bills, given the nostalgia for the Kelly era unis and the reaction when Josh wore a red helmet in training camp (albeit with the same striping that’s on the white helmets. You use what you’ve got, I guess). It’s very weird how we haven’t rolled them out yet. Since it’s past time for the uni reveals and there’s been zero leaks or even rumors for us this year, my guess is that we’re going to wait until the 2025 season that will be the final year at Rich / Ralph / Highmark stadium to see it out with a tribute. That’s what I’m really hoping for, anyway. ——— As for these Vikings threads, this ‘whiteout uni’ trend is already tired. Not quite as terrible as all-black jerseys, but…. Could the spacing between the numbers on the 33 jersey in the thread-starting post picture BE any larger? But then the spacing on the number 18 picture is a very normal ~3/4”. I don’t understand what’s going on there, other than the Vikings having a very weird typeface on the 3 and 8 iirc when it’s used as a ones digit after a tens digit, even with the same 3 or 8, that is normal. -

Dark chocolate. Less sugar, more cocoa flavor.

@JÂy RÛßeÒ’s fault.

The three shades of green candy-coated dark chocolate mint M&Ms seem to have been discontinued. They were my favorite.

Correct me if I’m wrong, but the drafts in recent memory (since they’ve been roving) haven’t been held at the football stadiums, but in an arena or outdoors venue in a downtown area. So… waiting for the new stadium to be completed isn’t really a requirement. But it would be completed before a possible 2027 announcement. Although it will have been in Detroit, Green Bay, & Pittsburgh by then, so unless they’re doing all of the Rust Belt in a row….

I think all of Bills Mafia knows this is a reloading year, with a ‘Hey, you never know!’ attitude mixed in. As long as Josh is out there and some guys step up / develop and if we’re luckier wrt injuries, we’ve got a very good chance of making the playoffs. We’ll see if Josh can elevate the WR play akin to how Tom Brady would always make chicken salad of chicken sh— that was his WR room as Belichick spent the resources and 💰 on their defense. But really, 2025 is going to be the high expectation year as the window opens much wider. And it looks, from the view of things right now, that the schedule will be a little more favorable.

Harrison Butker…oy vey…what a commencement “speech”

I lean more toward “everyone has a voice and everyone’s opinions DON’T matter. But that’s me. Just the latest “idiot kicker.” -

This was posted the other day on FB. 👍 (Dear lord, I had to compress the hell out of this to get under the 200kb maximum here. Has this photo size limit been changed since the early ‘00s?!?? I understand that this is designed to be mostly a text board but I don’t see and I don’t post photos very often. But this is like two pixels for a nose.) -

If the new stadium does not use this type of grass seed, what are we even doing? Gurney’s | Buffalo Grass Seed OP might get too much rainfall for the ideal growing, but that can also be engineered around, I would think. -

They’d have to do the draft in Buffalo-proper. Likely in Pegulavile at / near KeyBank arena. There’s simply nothing to do in OP, nowhere to eat, shop, sh—, sightsee. iirc, the recent drafts aren’t at or near that city’s football stadium. Detroit’s this year was in the downtown. Nice 👍🏼. -

Possible to retrofit? They've done that at all of the majors / Slam tennis tournaments, including Ashe and BJK in NYC. The bowl rim of football stadium obviously is larger but I’m sure it could be engineered. The only one north of the Mason-Dixon Line anyway. Seeing how the league office has been chomping for 18 games and home games well into February for awhile now, it was beyond stupid for us to stay open air or to at least not do a retractable roof. Climate change is only making weather more and more to the extremes & unpredictable. Probably 50% of our future February games are going to have to be played in Detroit. -
Same for the game announcing crews. As legendary Kentucky basketball coach Adolph Rupp would say, “Don’t speak unless you can improve the silence.” And all too often they don’t. I wish we could have an option to silence the announcers s d just hear the sounds of the field like they capture with those clear parabola antenna looking things.

Good article on the value of the 40 yd. dash
UConn James replied to Dubie54's topic in The Stadium Wall
What gets me is posters here who compare guys’ speeds that were run at the combine 5 or 8 years ago, as if they certainly could do that today. There are a few tricks one can do to achieve a faster 40 time, that are then gone after they run for the combine & pro days. There’s 40 speed and then there’s football speed. It’s tantamount to cramming for a test vis. short-term memory when the goal of an education is / should be learning & wisdom. Two different things.
