Stadium Construction Discussion (No PSL/Seat selection posts)
UConn James replied to JÂy RÛßeÒ's topic in The Stadium Wall
From the FB page of “Rochester Bills Fans” today. Looks like side girders that the wind confusion panels will be attached to are starting to be installed. -

Story with some video of the field area, etc. Reports that the stadium will not be completed until about December 2026, but should be ready for occupancy for fans in June 2026 at ~90% completion. WGRZ report -
UniWatch article said it was confirmed that the blue helmet with skyline is NOT part of the Rivalry set. It was just a marketing prop for the Verizon announcement.

Pete Rose, Shoeless Joe Jackson among others reinstated by MLB
UConn James replied to Gregg's topic in Off the Wall
Might come in handy if/when the truth comes out on Ohtani. Currently, we’re supposed to believe that his interpreter racked up $5M in betting debts, that bookies kept taking bets from a guy making an interpreter’s salary… and Ohtani, out of the kindness of his heart, paid it all. OK 🙄. -

To be fair to Einstein, he was saying that some people in the thread are expecting something that. Not that he is expecting it. Seats that are in that area of the stadium, given that it’s going to be exposed to the brutal winters, are not going to be deluxe & plush. That’s what you go with when you don’t have a dome of any kind. Folks wanting something cushy for their tushy are going to have to bring their own seat cushions. -

There’s a dedicated stadium construction thread. I just posted the YouTube video to it. Can a mod please merge this into there? @Simon? -

First seats installed and the family who bought the seasons’ & PSLs were invited to try them out. -
Hmmmmm…….. Well… I don’t hate it.

Can’t really shed any tears for members of that family after what they did to the Whalers.

On Bills FB page today: Also a short video where they're installing the first lighted K in one of the "Highmark" signs on the exterior. Awesome. https://www.facebook.com/share/v/15QS9peMVY/ -

All the golf carts I’ve ever been on don’t have seatbelts. That should change.

Yeah, it’s amazing and 😡 how they pretty much intentionally design these things to only last 25-30 years now. Highmark 2.0 had better be for a longer haul than that bc I don’t think the tax-base is going to support another one for probably 50-60 years. And that being said, it’s not. Concrete fails sooner than that when exposed to brutal WNY elements. Some of the 2013 reno’s concrete was falling apart in 10 years — you can look in that Buffalo Snooze photo story from just before the talks started. An enclosed clear canopy system like several teams have and this rendering is showing apparently made too much sense for TPegs to handle.
-
Seeing the historical photos, the wavy roof on the old RFK Stadium looks remarkably similar to Highmark 2.0’s. Also in the presser, it’s so heartening to see the mayor’s full name having the biggest type on the entire sign they were sitting in front of. 🙄. How crass can you get for something that’s going to cost the taxpayer share of $1B (it said 25% public funding) and she’s trying to make political hay from it so she has a job for life.

And we keep kicking the can down the road. Le sighhhhh.

We now have the flexibility to play 4-3 and Big nickel

The new training staff perfected cloning, I see. -
I paid the Sony tax, as they say with the x95k miniLED in 2022. When shopping the OLEDs looked beautiful but were more spendy. Yep, Sony sets are a bit more expensive but very worth it. Three years on and I still love it.

The NHL did the 4 Nations Tournament, round-robin, this season instead of the All-Star game and it was very popular. I loved it, myself. 1) there hadn’t been international hockey for NHL players in… was it 8 years(?), 2) The players went HARD in these games. It was the best playing the best, going at 100% 3) There was almost a two-week stoppage for NHL during this tourney, and I think was designed to whet appetites for the Olympics next year. The NFL is absolutely not conducive to be doing this — or any other kind — of format, especially during the season. Impossible to do alternate teams based on some geographic or national area. The nature of the game and injuries in a very rough sport make it a non-starter. NBA used existing teams and… it was just stupid. Too much on the line when the solitary goal is the Lombardi. NO ONE gives a 💩 about anything else and it was simply a manufactured-drama thing that should be gone w/in 5 years because it’s stupid.

Been in favor of this for a long time. Many benefits wrt energy usage and health, few drawbacks. If people have an issue with kids & buses, look at changing school start time. It passed unanimously in a full Senate vote a couple of years ago and then never got taken up in the House.

All of that March Madness needs somewhere to land, right?

It’s showing just how bad UPL was at times. Wasted 4-5 years on him? Power not looking very good either. Couldn’t clear the zone for 💩. Frustrating that every year we only play well when it’s too late. And we’ve been beating (soundly beating them, too!) really good teams in this streak.

Ovechkin ties Gretzky/ Most Goals/Breaks record 4/06/2025
UConn James replied to jayg's topic in Off the Wall
It’s been a while different era in the NHL since the rules changes in the mid-oughts that opened up scoring so much more than the heavily defensive tilts when Gretzky played. -
If he did not even say her name and was not the first, there’s just not much of a case against PM. He mentioned, in passing (per the NYP clip) an already notable rumor, and therefore discussing something that has been news. There doesn’t seem to be any malice. And again, he didn’t say her name. That’s what social media has wrought on whatever we once thought of as privacy. Stuff bounces around and eventually can get amplified. Of course, the lawyers don’t go after the person / people who actually started the rumor. They go after anyone who has big money and then tries to put all the blame on them. E$PN may do a settlement to just make it go away if the ask is reasonable, but I really don’t think in this day and age that the girl has much of a case against him.
