JJ Watt Trade Block?
thenorthremembers replied to RoyBatty is alive's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Agree. They need almost a complete reset on defense. They are old, and need to inject some life back into the unit. Poyer is still a very good in the box safety, so he may survive, but both he and Hyde are struggling in coverage. -
Well lets hope they smack it out of them, because unless you're skier there isnt a whole hell of a lot to do on Sundays in Western NY when its 30 degrees and lower.
-
The are incredibly old on defense. They dont play with any enthusiasm, and its looked to have impacted the offense as well.
-
Going to be honest, I am very worried about the game. The Jets are healthy, are at home, and the Bills have injuries to major players on all levels of their team. The likelihood the Jets go 0-16 is low, and the Bills have looked flat the last few weeks.

Ed Oliver vs Quinnen Williams
thenorthremembers replied to JetsFan20's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I dont think its really a Williams vs Oliver thing. Oliver was better last year, Williams has been better this year. There is some mumbling about Oliver playing injured, so who knows. What it comes down to is if you can get Williams on his rookie deal why not. They both are talented players. If you can rotate them, and then determine which you want to keep I'd say go for it. -
Always do a Go Bills and sometimes even go in for the high five. The only time I think twice about it is when its a female without a male companion. Feels kind of odd in that situation.

JJ Watt Trade Block?
thenorthremembers replied to RoyBatty is alive's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
A couple things on this. A) Watt is not washed up. He is older yes, but he is still a good player who can get you more in the way of pass rush and run stopping than anyone else we have on the dline. He can also kick inside and probably also be the best defensive tackle option we have right now as well. B). The Bills dont currently have the cap to sign Watt, but if you send Jerry Hughes and a 2nd to the Texans you may be able to get under the cap. Bottom line on this is how much the Bills expect to be in the AFC Title hunt at the end of the year. If they are serious about it they will try something like this. If not, then they probably get one home game and either lose in the wild card or second round. So we should already be in the mix. Because Josh is a top ten QB in the league, and the wideouts are excellent. -
Ravens trade for Yannick

The rich get richer. -
I dont disagree there. Not having Milano has been a real detriment to the entire defense, including Edmunds. Dodson gets a lot of love for being athletic, but he is poor in coverage and misses way too many tackles. Klein is in the same boat, he cant cover to save his life and misses close to 20% of his tackles, double what is considered horrible by NFL Standards. So in that respect you are right, Edmunds is probably pressing. Milano and Edmunds complement one another extremely well. Milano is fantastic in coverage, and Edmunds is better against the run. Hopefully when they are both together again and healthy they both return to form.
-
Edmunds isnt the only problem, but he is part of the problem. Currently he is near the bottom of his position in both production and on field play, and even last year when he made the "pro-bowl" he wasnt a nuanced difference maker. Slice it anyway you like it, but when you're a first round draft pick with high expectations guys like John Bostic and B.J. Goodson shouldnt be outproducing or outplaying you.

Quinton Spain released; signs with Bengals PS

You'll get no argument from me there. Not a very good stable of players at that position. -
Yes, Rich it was the two weeks off...

He caught a TD last week. Not for nothing, if this year ends how it is trending now Jason Croom will have had the 2nd best season from a Bills tight end in the last three years and Knox wasnt that much better last year. Woof. -

Wyatt Teller is playing at an All Pro level right now, so that could be said for almost any team. I get we are the team who traded him, but it's not like Morse, Dawkins, and Williams are having bad years, and Felciano hasnt played a down. Therefore, I dont see the point in pointing that out. -
I see what you mean in terms of arm strength and size, but the style of play and athleticism is completely different. Bledsoe was an interception machine his first few years in the league. I also see what people are saying in terms of Favre, the arm, and the sandlot routine, but again interceptions. For all the bad Josh can bring to the table he limits his bad decision making. The only two guys that come to mind when I think of comparisons for Josh are Carson Wentz and Cam Newton. In fact, I think those two players combined are essentially Josh Allen. People are down on Wentz, and I think its apt, but prior to the knee injury he was well on his way to being elite. If you look at what Newton did in his first three years in the league he is almost identical with Josh.

Got slammed for this earlier in the year, but the Texans playoff game should have been his last in a Bills uniform. They need some nastiness on this team, they also need a wake up call. Will be glad to see Feliciano back. Hopefully this clears cap space for a RB, TE or Edge Rusher. -
I've wanted the Bills to go get this guy the last two offseasons. Not a starter anymore but can provide depth. Just not sure he is a better player than Justin Zimmer right now. Not sure what the heck is going on with Oliver. Knew he would be a little undersized, but he is playing horrifically right now.

Are we still a 9-7 team?

Still think they are a 10-12 win football team. -
The LB Situation Moving Forward
thenorthremembers replied to H2o's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
With Edmunds, I am not even sure he can play Outside Linebacker in this defense. He isn't agile enough to do what Milano is asked to do. So that leaves him at the other outside linebacker spot which is essentially non existent. At this point they need to see what he offers as a pass rusher because he really cant do anything else. -
I was beyond amazed they made Yeldon inactive yesterday when he averaged 7 yards a carry the game before.

Tre hasn't been great this year but he also hasnt been bad. He doesn't have a lot of opportunities to make plays because teams dont throw at him, and secondly teams dont have to throw because the run defense is so bad. -
D-line trade target—let’s get Atkins
thenorthremembers replied to dave mcbride's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Unless they start cutting players they dont have the cap space. Atkins is due 8 million more this year, and the Bills have under 4 left. -
He is 6/10 on the year and has given no sign of looking like a even decent kicker. They also cut Chase McLaughlin at one point. Go get him back. Or dont, whatever maybe score more points. The thread title was who can you sign to improve the team. Along with a lot of areas kicker is an issue. i said it. Id sign McLaughlin off of the Vikings practice squad.
