  1. Probably a good guess as Murphy was KO returner and McKenzie/Hyde were PRs. This move gives OBD a KR and save Hyde the extra duty as PR.
  2. Shaw66 - Strong post yet again, enjoy reading your stuff every week even when I disagree with some of it. The above quote is why I still give McBeane credit for their work to date... yes, even counting this year. There are only 2 player left from the Marrone Tenure (Hughes and Kyle). There are only 2 draftees from the 2013-2016 draft classes left on the roster: Shaq Lawson and John Miller. Miller will likely be gone after this season. So in less than 24 months this new management team tore down a mediocre team and started the building process for a new playoff ready team. The Process is just that. It meant finding grounded talented players who value playing over everything else the NFL brings them ($$, Fame, Women, Drugs, Nightlife). Milano, Johnson, Teller, Phillips are 2nd or 3rd day guys that fit this profile. The Facetime call with Milano in the winning locker room speaks volumes to the culture that McD has developed. These guys play for each other and it really shows in their actions on the field and off it. They are in tune with the coaching staff too. Those that aren't or weren't are gone or soon will be. The Bills have had some closely knit teams (Jauron era) during the drought, but there's something different happening at OBD now. Josh, Tremaine and Tedavious are emerging as leaders on and off the field. Here's hoping that $85mm in FA and 10 draft picks translates into more superior talent coupled with unequaled passion to play.
  3. Barnwell could have done this Tyrod Short Fast Cautious African American Josh Tall Fast Reckless Caucasian And it would have read the same to me. One guy, with little insight, voicing his opinion
  4. So I will post this for reference again. Who does Josh most resemble in style of play and progress made in Year 1? Granted a different era but Elway was on better team that went 4-1 with Steve DeBerg as starter and made playoffs. Elway started 10 game and went 4-6. 47.5 % Completion ratio (more downfield throwing then, but so are most of Josh's too) Threw for 7 TDs vs 14 INTs. Ran 28 times for 146 yds and 1 TD. He was more of a scrambler (behind the line) than Josh. Sack Rates, INT rates, fumble rates and TD Rates are similar. Food for thought. 5. He is a stud. And a "cousin" of Tredavious White - who helped get him to commit to LSU. just sayin?
  6. I am confused. In our nickel package Zo plays on the DLine as an end or DT and rushes passer. Bills nickel Scheme has Taron Johnson as nickel DB who subs for SAM. Bush and Neal do as well. the scheme also brings Poyert or Hyde down in box based on formation of offense. Don't see this as a need. Maybe a backup for Milano - low priority.
  7. Josh was not on the field with team at start of 2nd half and was late coming out of tunnel as was being medically evaluated/treated at half time. May have caused the confusion after turnover
  8. Like many of you I am disappointed in how 2018 has played out. OBD seriously overestimated the talent pool at QB, OL and WR on the 2018 Bills and man have us fans had to pay for it in multiple blowouts (Ravens, Chargers, Packers, Colts, Bears) and losing close ones (Texans, Fins and Jets). I'm hoping Bills can go 2-1 in last 3 and also experiment with the lineup as well. So with that said, here's what I's like to see for balance of the year: Personnel Shut down Shady at RB and go with Ford and Murphy as backs 2 and 3. Assumes Ivory can still go. Move Miller and Mills to the bench and play Boettger at RG and McDermott at RT. Get Croom healthy and back in lineup at #1 TE with Thomas as backup. Shut down Clay. If Max protect use 6 OL as they did earlier in the year and Jets did for Darnold yesterday. Coaching - Hot seat in descending order! Off season moves that should be made. Crossman - ST - Neal and the other new DBs really missed the KR on kickoffs repeatedly - and when first guy missed no outside contain. HS stuff. FG gaffes all year and poor PR and Punt coverage all year as well. Castillo - OLine/Running Game - His OL suffers from the deadly trio. Lack of talent and foot speed combined with poor coaching. These guys can't reach block, pull or power block with leverage in the running game. In pass blocking it's evident that the left side of line handles stunts poorly to date. A new combo on right side may be a liability in pass pro as well given newness. Castillo was a carryover from 2017 staff and it is plainly clear it wasn't warranted. Terrie Robiskie - WR - he is at the end of the line and as I really believe the Bills will have 3-4 new WRs next year it might make sense for Daboll to bring in his own new NFL guy here. What personnel changes would you like to see in last 3 games? And what coaches (McD excluded as sure he will be brought back) would you show the door!
  9. In most of the long runs in MIA game, Fins were in man D with Bills in empty set with 5 wide. WRs are running outs from inside or deep curls outside with someone down the seam. No crossres or digs where the LBs would be in short zone. Means the middle of field is wide open for QB to run.
  10. 8. Oct. 17, 1988 — Bills 37, Jets 14 Jets get thrashed by the Bills but the story is in the Giants Stadium stands where unruly fans brawled, threw beer on the field and even set fires. The chaos prompts the New Jersey Sports and Exposition Authority to ban alcohol sales at night games and limit tailgating to three hours before kickoff. That's why Jets Fans come to New Era Field. Cuz da Bills ruined it for youse guys!
  11. Not in agreement with priorities in your draft and as you had no FAs listed am left wondering if you think Bills OGs and OTs are OK. Love played in only 10 games this year and YPC were down by 45% from 8.1 in 2017 to 4.5 in 2018. TDs were down 67% from 19 in 2017 50 6 in 2018. You like him why? As for Mustipher he is small, short limbed and and listed as 10th best C prospect - likely could be a priority FA signing - no way he is a 2nd rounder. Will stop there as not even aware of other players being named here.
  12. KB may change his name to KFC or Popeye's based on extra lbs and greasy fingers exhibited here
  13. Reposted here Bill have won 7 of last 10 since 2013 season. Fins swept series in 2016 - Rex's last year. Seems they struggle versus a 4-3 D like what McD and Schwartz run. Kelly era Bills went 17-8 versus Fins counting playoff games. Since Kelly retired Bills hold 22-20 regular season series advantage with one playoff loss (Flutie red Zone Sack/fumble) after 1998 season. It's actually been pretty even over last 21 years. I picked a split in my season record pick at start of year and still see it that way. We lose there and win at home.

  15. It was a 36 yd toss to Deonte Thompson that safety got in and punched out. Thompson could have hand caught it and turned back to safety to protect ball better
  16. OP, quick read of title led me to believe we were putting a hit out on him.
  17. Not a fan of Bell move as noted elsewhere in thread. If we sign Barr does he play SAM? Assuming Lorenzo is shown the door then? A lot of $$ for a player who plays 2 downs as Edmunds/Milano are the Nickle LBs. Gaines is an IR spot waiting to happen - in STL, here and CLE. Roby is the 87th ranked CB in league and has been a disaster this year in DEN - pass. Austin = McKenzie, don't see the need for added expense. As for Draft I would be OK with it. Believe between FA and Draft you are forgetting RT as a 1st/2nd day need.
  18. Thanks for the Pro personnel and draft prospects heads up. I don't drill down on that until season ends. McKenzie is too small to play RB as is only 5'7" and weighs 175 lbs soaking wet.
  19. Wow I missed that, thanks for posting. I will amend my take to this; OBD will not put a fully guaranteed $54mm-60mm 3 year deal on the table for reasons noted previously. Bell was picked 48th in draft (mid 2nd) and David Johnson and Kareem Hunt were taken at pick 86 in the 3rd. Have to believe a Shady replacement (who will have Shady alongside them in RB room in 2019) can be found in the draft next spring. OL, WR, DL and CB are bigger needs than RB
  20. Let's deal in reality here. Bell wants $40mm guaranteed up front. No team will give a 27 year old player (who hasn't played this year) taht much - this is where the Suspension risk and Agent Issues kill him. BTW here is Sammy's deal. Sammy Watkins signed a 3 year, $48,000,000 contract with the Kansas City Chiefs, including a $21,000,000 signing bonus, $30,000,000 guaranteed, and an average annual salary of $16,000,000. And besides turning down the $14.5mm Franchise Tag deal, Bell also said no to the following. According to Pro Football Talk's Mike Florio, the Steelers' 10/5 offer to Bell included $47 million over three years with a $10 million roster bonus that would have been paid out soon after signing the deal. NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reported in July that Pittsburgh made an offer to Bell worth up to $70 million over five years and included more than $30 million over the first two years.
  21. Shaw - great summary as usual. I think it's always easier for a right handed QB to throw the ball to his left on bubble screens. When Josh has to open his hips up to throw short right, there seems to be some footwork issues that make those plays difficult. Teams will scout tendencies so McD and team need to get him over this hole in his game.
  22. I think the issue is the Punter. Bills have 3 under contract but only the worst one is able to play right now due to injury
  23. Doug, hope you banked that $4mm cuz you may be out of a job soon.
