Anyone find it weird that this national sports network calls the next year championship the 2020 Super Bowl. It is the 2019 Super Bowl as the game (though played after 12/31/18) is tied to the season. The 2019 NFL season begins on 3/13 when Free Agency Opens.

Rams 31 Pats 24. Scoop and Score by Rams on Brady Strip/Sack. Pressure up the middle problem all day for Brady. James White has a big day vs Rams LBs. Nickell Robey silences Edelman and Barrow takes care of Gronk. Woods and Cooks go off as Pats try to shut down run and dare Goff to throw. -
A new QB Coach Candidate? Just heard this on OBL Murph and Tasker show: Jake Peetz, Offensive Analyst Alabama 2018. Was QB coach for Raiders and was Josh McDaniel's candidate for Colts OC role last year. Colts: 3 things to know about Jake Peetz, who could become offensive ... https://www.indystar.com/story/sports/nfl/colts/.../3...jake-peetz.../1038335001/

David Culley (former Bills QB coach) gone- to Ravens
freddyjj replied to One Buffalo's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Joe Philbin as QB Coach/Passing Game coordinator as was GB OC from 2007-2011 and again last year. Worked with a great QB (Rodgers) when he took over for Favre. Per reports he interviewed with McD in the last month - albeit that was probably for O Line position. Certainly qualified. -
Colts re-sign potential Bills FA target OG Mark Glowinski
freddyjj replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I may be in the minority but I say move Teller to RG and Dion Dawkins to LG (as more mobile than Teller). Sign a FA Right Tackle (less expensive than LT) and draft a Left Tackle. As for C, can see them signing one and failing that, drafting one. Glowinski is strictly a RG so contract term and total $$ are less. For Bills, I feel Teller is better option. -
AlphaMock V1 - 4 round mock (pre combine)
freddyjj replied to Alphadawg7's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Why not? Bills gave up pick 12 in Rd 1 and 2 2nd Rd picks(53 and 56) last year to move up to 7. Did get a late 7th (255) back too. -

Like the names but order messed up. Don't see Harry or TE in Rd 1. My guess is they move back to 15 and take Risner or Ford. Then use 2 seconds on WR and TE. -
Kyle Crabbs’ Mock Draft 5.0: Bills take DE Clelin Farrell
freddyjj replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Could see Frazier using a Giants like Nascar pass rush package with Hughes on one end, Rookie DE on other and 2 of Shaq/Murphy/Zo at DT positions. OBD has to consider risk of Jerry or Shaq walking in FA after 2019 and, given Jerry's age, hire a replacement. We could use another edge rusher even if Shaq signs a 5th year option. -
Any word on Jordan Phillips New Contract offer
freddyjj replied to RPbillsfan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Different situations. Zo, at 35, knows he only had 1 year left in him and opted to stay here as a C and team leader. Same D as last 2 years too. Jordan Philips is 26 and looking to get a multi-year deal to set him up for life. Do the Ozzie Newsome thing - tell him to hit FA and bring back his best deal on the street to OBD and then the Bills will decide to match or not. IMHO he won't generate a ton of interest and the 2 sides will meet on common ground here. I doubt we have made any offers to date. -
The Inabilty to Draft a CB cost the Bills 4 Super Bowls
freddyjj replied to PUNT750's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
IIRC Bills drafted CB Derrick Burroughs as 2nd pick in 1985 draft. He was very good and he and Odomes were a good tandem. Unfortunately he took a shot from Leonard Smith our SS in a game late in 1988. An xray showed he had acute cervical stenosis and he had to retire. Too bad, was a stud -
Was Mark Kelso the Best FS in Bills History?

That is the record. Tony Greene's 37 picks are 2nd. -
Was Mark Kelso the Best FS in Bills History?

Odomes was Pro Bowler in '92 and '93 seasons for Bills. Signed to a big FA deal by Seattle and got hurt and never played a down for them in 2 years. He tried to come back in 96 with ATL and couldn't play, starting in 4/7 games played before retiring at end of season. From 1988-1990 the Bills SS Leonard Smith was a hard-hitting SS and really brought it every play. After 1990 season the Bills lacked physicality in the Secondary until 1994 when Matt Darby became the starting FS. It got a little tougher when Kurt Schultz became FS in 1995. IIRC in Giants SB, Kelso was done for year and John Hagy started at FS. Likewise at CB, JD Williams was out so Kirby Jackson played instead. Odomes played CB and Leonard Smith was SS. Kelso played in Redskins SB. Leonard Smith had a knee infection and missed SB XXVI and Dwight Drane played instead. Smith never returned to NFL. For 1992 SB Smith was out replaced at SS by Henry Jones and Kelso played FS. JD Williams and Kirby Jackson split time at one CB position with Odomes at the other. By end of 1993 season, Odomes played last year as a Bill and Mickey Washington and JD Williams platooned at one CB position while Kelso and Jones were FS/SS respectively. -
Senior Bowl- Day 3 A Bills fan first hand take
freddyjj replied to CEN-CAL17's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Great work here 1Zayday1! I really appreciate the detail. Was thinking of possibly attending Senior Bowl next year. So is it worth it and is access to practices etc easy? As for Oline, I see OBD first O Line pick having to be OT starter level ready and possibly have position flexibility (Williams at LT or G, Risner at C, G or RT, McCary at G or OT, Elkston at T or C). Teams only want to dress 7 or 8 Oline on game day now. -
This Is Why Spending Big $ For A RB Is Not Wise:
freddyjj replied to YodaMan79's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Agree with OP. As pro game adds more RPO, single cut runs the running game looks more and more like college and the ability to plug and play a rookie with a proven RPO background is increased. Pass pro and receiving are skills that must be assessed to project 3 down capability. I believe that RB is the easiest position to start a rookie at. -
Was Mark Kelso the Best FS in Bills History?
freddyjj replied to PUNT750's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Agreed. I loved the Bills in my HS and college years. Tony Greene twice had 9 picks. Pro bowl appearance and 1st team all pro selection. Bright light on some bad teams. His 37 picks at FS might be record for position for Bills Btw, Jeff Nixon had 11 picks in his first 23 games as a Bills FS in 79-80 before suffering a career ending knee injury. Who knows what he might have done so felt need to mention him here. -

Per reports he underwent Alcohol and Anger Management counseling in DEC 2018. In order to be successful in either he must be honest with himself and admit both are at the heart of his problems. If he is only one month into his journey into recovery, probably best he concentrate on that and let the NFL thing work itself out. Stronger case if he can claim 3-4 months sober, and speak to his therapy for anger issues. I for one hope the young man just gets the help he needs to have a happy rest of his life, with or without the NFL.

Brandon Reilly signs with Lions
freddyjj replied to Mountain Man's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
It was a different era with 60% run rate and a volatile QB situation in New England (Eason/Grogan/Flutie) that was as bad or worse as Jets has been. In his first 29 starts over 1st 3 years Fryar had 15 TDs vs 5 tds in 4 years for Enunwa. Fryar was an impact #1 WR who helped get a team with a poor 3rd year QB to the Super Bowl in his 2nd year in league. Fryar was an All-Pro in 2nd year in league and was 3 time All-Pro. Also appeared in 5 pro bowls. Great deep threat and game breaking WR. 5x over 1000 yds when that was not common. For reference, Andre Reed only did it 5x all with Kelly at QB. For career, Reed had 100 more catches for 3 more TDs than Fryar. -

Chiefs fire longtime DC Bob Sutton
freddyjj replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Agreed and expect Rams to bracket Edelman in coverage on drags. Possibly play bandit with backer or safety on side he is running pattern to. Talib and Peters will help too as better DBs than anyone on Chiefs. Rams don't have good edge rushers but if they can get Donald and Suh to pressure up the middle it will cause problems with timing of patterns.
