  1. McBeane knows what positions he wants blue chip players at, and he is using his top picks to fill those. He will continue to use stop gap signings to hold down the fort until he is able to draft his guys. All of the FA contracts that have been handed out have been fairly easy for us to get out of (As soon as we draft our guys).
  2. I am a Peterman fan and don’t think it was too early to pull him... Especially after seeing Allen’s performance. Allen came in and was able to get the ball moving.
  3. Everyone hear McDermott tell Daboll not to be affraid to make a mistake and take chances during embedded 4 around 14:30..... Glad we have McD and not Marrone.
  4. I've seen all of these throws. And while I have never been on the Mayfield train, I still think he gives you more than Tyrod. Cleveland has to answer the question of whether they want to go with the rookie that will give you wow moments (Such as I think the 2nd or 3rd throw on that video of Baker) while also giving you some rookie moments (Of which there were plenty of on that video), or going with Tyrod who will scramble around and look exciting at times, but more often than not just throws short dump offs to his RB while protecting the ball. And all of this is in reference to the OP's topic of whether it is the guy calling the plays or the person executing. That is the only reason I am using preseason to compare Mayfield to Tyrod..... Both have the same person calling in the plays on the sideline.... Although I do realize that one is going against 1st stringers and one is going against 2nd and 3rd stringers.. I don't think comparing preseason stats of players from different teams (Brady vs. Tyrod) is useful in most situations as different teams have different objectives during preseason.
  5. Through 3 Weeks of Preseason Tyrod Taylor averaging 9.3 yards per completion (71.4 completion pct.) Baker Mayfield averaging 13.96 yards per completion (57.8 completion pct.) What I take away from this is that it has nothing to do with who is calling the plays and everything to do with who is executing the plays. Stats do not always give an accurate picture of what is happening, but these most definitely do. Baker is trying to complete more difficult passes, pushing the ball down the field (Hence why his completion pct. is lower), while Tyrod continues to do Tyrod things, and takes way too many dump off throws underneath for 3 and 4 yards, especially when its 3rd and 10.
  6. I believe it was just Josh taking what the defense was giving him. And Cleveland D-line put consistent pressure on all 3 QBs and didn't give time for too many of the downfield routes to develop.
  7. My take on all of this is, no I don’t see a completely fixed throwing motion, he may have improved it but certainly no where near perfect. But I will say that he was impressive last night and did all of the things you would want your rookie QB to do. I don’t buy any of the stuff people are saying about how he only made the short easy throws, from what I saw he made the correct throws given the situations he was in and did a good job moving the chains. That is where someone like Tom Brady has had so much success over the years
  8. Raiders should look into trading for Josh Gordon... Gruden would love him
  9. Some really great info. Thanks for sharing!! I believe that they are spending the draft picks mostly on defensive players right now due to the fact that it is McD's scheme and he knows that isn't going anywhere.... on the other side, they are going to see what Daboll and this scheme can do with free agents, and if they see him do a lot with a little bit of talent, then they will invest draft picks next year into his offense. They want to see Daboll's offense do what McD's defense did last year, which is look really good with minimal talent.
  10. Yeah, I think you are probably right. I am not a Jackson fan which is why I would hate to see them take him that high, I am firmly in the Rosen camp. I do not think the Bills want Jackson, but if that is who they ultimately choose, I will fully support him and trust that they believe he has the skills to be successful.
  11. If McBeane are sold on Jackson, I would love to get him at 22 and allow us to get Roquan Smith at 12 or possibly trade up a few spots if we had to in order to get him. But obviously QB is #1 and it all hinges on who they think they can be successful with.
  12. Great analysis, I agree with a lot of this. Makes me feel even better about what I am seeing with my own eyes and I hope the Bills can get up to #2 to get Rosen.
  13. Great post!! Personally, I am a Rosen fan just purely based on how he throws from the pocket.... but I will admit I have my concerns about his durability and personality as far as being someone that others want to follow. Mayfield's height scares me but really like you stated, his personality just screams Buffalo to me and people follow his lead. If McBeane think Mayfield is the guy, I will be all in on him.
  14. We showed last year that it is not how talented your roster is necessarily, or how many 1st, 2nd, 3rd round players you have.... The leadership, coaches, and culture mean much more. This is why teams that find the right coach can turn things around so quickly. McD has established a smart, hardworking, gritty culture.
  15. I totally agree and believe that the support provided to a prospect has a larger impact on the prospect than many may think. Some prospects are just that good that they can overcome whatever the circumstances are, but most need the right situation and support (teammates, HC, OC). I believe that we have the right culture now, and a great HC/GM combo that we are ready to bring in a top prospect to develop the correct way.
  16. I seriously hope he is just saying all this stuff about how much they love the 12th pick in order to drum up some interest from other teams.... and that he already has a plan in place to move up for a QB they are comfortable with.
  17. Its a ploy to gain an extra comp pick.... if he gets any time and lucks into a good game or two, he'll sign a huge deal in the offseason and Browns will get a 3rd round comp pick.
  18. I think this has more to do with positions that McBeane value highly and which positions they want to have superstars in... Such as in Carolina they had a high 1st round QB in Newton and then the QB in the middle of their defense Luke Kueckly who was also a high 1st rounder... They see those two positions as vital to the teams success and Brown is not a good enough athlete to satisfy McBeane. They will be taking QB in the top 5 and look to upgrade MLB in the draft this year or next. On the other side, they have shown that they do not spend big money on CBs. They let Norman walk in Carolina, Gilmore walk last year, and appear to be fine with letting Gaines leave.
  19. NE giving Broncos another draft pick to use in a trade up with NYG at #2 for a QB so that we won't be able to.... This is a potential nightmare.
  20. I apologize if this has already been talked about, but does anyone know if Ivory has experience on special teams? McD seems to value players that are good depth at their position, but are also solid special team players. Ivory seems like someone that would offer value on special teams but I don't know if he has done it before.
