Stadium Construction Discussion (No PSL/Seat selection posts)
Success replied to JÂy RÛßeÒ's topic in The Stadium Wall
Man, I still remember when people were talking about the "Toronto Bills," and our whole future as fans was in doubt. Very grateful. -
Beane: “working on at least 2 veteran UFA’s”
Success replied to Warriorspikes51's topic in The Stadium Wall
I think we signed the guys he was referring to. I have no idea how we'd sign anyone else impactful at this point. I'm not a cap guy - but we have to be right up against it. -
Hot take: the Chiefs will NOT be our biggest obstacle in the AFC this year. The stars aligned for them at the right time last season. I think both Cincy and Buffalo were "better," but KC got hot at the right time (which, of course, is one of the keys to winning a title). Credit to them, and they'll certainly be a contender in '23, but I'm just not as worried about them as a few of the other teams. Our division worries me more than any other team in the conference.

Are we more deserving of the SB hype this year than last?
Success posted a topic in The Stadium Wall
And I say this realizing that we will NOT be hyped this year, which I think is a good thing. But it's clear what our deficiencies were last year - and they became even more glaring in the playoffs. We were speed & finesse, and so top heavy - mainly Allen, Diggs and Miller. It's like Beane looked at the Cincy game, and addressed everything we were missing. A deeper & more powerful run game? Check. Physical receivers who have better hands and get YAC? Check. A stronger O-line that can both protect JA and open holes for the RB's? Check. This team is now built more for Buffalo weather - and more for overpowering opponents. For months now on the general boards, both "Buffalo will take a step back in '23" and "The Bills window is closing" have become like mantras. But our 2023 team is our best & most balanced yet, imo. It feels like this team is the one that should get the big hype. And again, I'm glad they aren't.- 200 replies

It's hard to tell if the Jets will really be significantly better w/ Rodgers. Certainly, bad QB play held them back last year. And their defense is stellar. But will a 40 year old Rodgers be that hard to defend? He's not aging quite like Brady, who was still playing at a VERY high level at that age. And he couldn't do anything w/ Green Bay the past couple of years. I'm concerned, but not really freaking out. I wish a HOF QB hadn't come to the AFCE - but I still feel like we can sweep that team w/ the improvements we've made this offseason.

Bills' receiving corps getting bigger for playoff football
Success replied to Inigo Montoya's topic in The Stadium Wall
I love our WR corps right now. I kind of shrug when I see fans say we still need a #2 - this is the best WR room we have had in many years. So much versatility and a good variety of skillsets. We added not only size, but speed, YAC, better hands. Allen is going to have a lot to work with. -
We have a really good GM.

For all of Boston's success - and they've had a lot - they have also had some of the most epic chokes/failures in sports history. The '86 Sox, '07 Pats and now '23 Bruins are just about in a class of their own.
-
Just curious - does anyone think we would have taken Overshown if Dallas hadn't picked him? I know zilch about the college game & players, so wondering if these 2 were rated much differently.

Bills sign Latavius Murray to a one-year deal
Success replied to Roundybout's topic in The Stadium Wall
I'm so glad the Bills remembered there is another facet to offense besides passing. -
Will DeAndre Hopkins be available this offseason?
Success replied to NeverOutNick's topic in The Stadium Wall
That's fair. Naturally, I'd be thrilled if we got him. -

Gotta say - I'm genuinely surprised at the downvotes to my "we don't need another WR" comment. The Colts would have had multiple championships with Peyton Manning if they followed the Pats lead - invest in the trenches, build the running game. The Colts always went for MORE receivers, and the rest of the team was lacking because of it. -
Just devastating. Horrible to hear this.

Beane was laser-focused on helping Josh Allen. Protecting him, giving him more time, establishing a running game, and adding to the # of legit weapons he has. That's what you do when you have an elite QB. We're in such good hands w/ Beane. He's not a superior drafter, but he's a good one, and he has built Buffalo into a top contender, year after year. He nailed it this offseason, 100%

Success replied to NeverOutNick's topic in The Stadium Wall
Hmmmm....not a bad question. I guess it doesn't matter, because he IS Allen. But regardless, w/ the addition of Kincaid, Sherfield & Harty, and a real running game, we'll have one of the top passing attacks in the league (imo). I don't see adding to that as a priority. The Pats had a top QB and won 6 titles without any real investment in the WR position, except for Moss. -

We have a top 10 WR corps in the league right now. We really don't need to add anyone at this point. -
Personally, I don't think there was much to bridge. We lost too many guys last year, and with all of the emotion around Hamlin, we weren't the same team in the playoffs. We beat KC at their place earlier in the season. Then the wheels kind of fell off. But I'd say we improved more than our top competition this offseason. The FA acquisitions and draft picks all make us tougher, more physical, more difficult to stop on offense. We'll have a true running game for the 1st time since JA got here. Miller & Hyde will be back, along with key defenders who were playing hurt at the end - Poyer, Phillips, Jones. Can't wait.
-
We got better - without doubt, especially w/ the FA additions. Kincaid will be a star, and Torrence will fundamentally change our line (imo). Williams is our most "controversial" pick, but I've seen a few pundits out there saying he can step in and start right away. We'll have to see on that pick, but I love the skillset. And we could have some late-round gems. Shorter was a 5-star, and we simply don't have a WR like him. Just a big dude who might be a great red zone guy. Broeker could legit make the roster. I loved this draft. I feel like we're as good as anybody in the AFC.
-
He creates the same kind of match-up problems for defenses as Kelce. Kelce is such a generational talent that it's way too early for an apples-to-apples comparison - but Kincaid has very a very similar skillset and could be the same kind of asset for Allen. Kelce is still playing at a high level. We'll have to deal w/ him for at least another 2-3 years, imo.
-
Having scoured the internet, I can confirm that some out there have this same view - and think he could be a real steal. I've rarely seen opinions so wildly different on a player. But it's cool that there are more than a few who think he could pan out very well.
-
2 instant starters/upgrades. Kincaid will be a match-up problem for DC's, and Torrence really upgrades the line. Our running backs may finally have some holes to burst through. 3rd round is the wildcard - but let's see how McD's new scheme is. Some guys late that are proverbial "high ceiling." I could see Shorter making the roster, and even being a contributor his rookie year. We don't have a WR like him. Both 7th rounders could be surprising, imo. I love that Broeker can play anywhere. I saw a few pundits saying that they had him going much earlier. Gave this an "A."
-
Glad we have Beane. You can never tell how a draft class will work out. But I can see the vision and logic behind every pick he made.
-
I really loved our draft. It unfolded in a way that I had hoped - BPA early, need mid & late. Our 1st 2 picks are instant starters, and upgrades. I'm so excited to see what Kincaid brings to the offense, and I think Torrence could change our whole line in very positive ways. I see us finally having a running game, and maybe even having games where it's the running & not the passing that gets us the W. We'll see about our round 3 guy - but I have a hunch that McD's new defense will get the most out of guys like him & Bernard. Shorter could be a bit of a steal, and give us a dimension we completely lacked at WR. Big dude, can sky for contested balls, and I can see him having an impact in the red zone. A top 5 team got better, imo. We can compete w/ the KC's and Cincy's.
-
9 picks next year - pretty cool.
-
Brown coming through and realizing his potential could be HUGE for this line (obviously). If he can take that step, we could all of a sudden have a top 10 or even top 5 kind of line.
