Think about how much you profit from their business. 10-20% is a standard kickback.

I don't know if it qualifies as a conspiracy theory, however, I believe that the refs in the Titans playoff game knew damn well it was an illegal forward pass but they were intimidated by the crowd. In those days the ref went under a little shroud or hood and looked at a tv monitor right near the stands. I think the refs decided not to call it back because they were scared of a violent reaction from the fans. Whether just bottle throwing or a full blown riot, whether they were just scared for their own safety or decided that an incident would look bad for the league, I believe the refs gave the Titans the game in spite of what they saw on the field and on the replay.

The only Celebrity cruise I would even consider would require the original cast of the Love Boat working as crew and a smattering of B and C list celebrities.

Absolutely correct. That and some political connections can work wonders. -

2OG,2OT,C,TE,2WR,RB,KR. That’s an offensive FA!
ocemur replied to Chandler#81's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Beane just about built an entire offensive unit except QB out of free agents. And that unit might even be better than the offense we fielded last year. My only fear is that we may have a whole lot of average or below average players. There's no spots I would call a true "hole", but the games will come down to how many individual match ups we win. I'd feel better with a couple more studs. Maybe they'll come out of the draft. I'm not criticizing Beane, you can only sign guys who are out there, you can't call up Dominos and have pro bowl players delivered. Hopefully some of these guys step up and improve their game with the chance they have been given. -
What if Metcalf is BPA at draft time?
ocemur replied to Toledo Bill's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
He seems like Tony Mandarich Jr. to me. But the Bills have an entire staff to vet this stuff, so if he's the pick then I will do what any good Bills fan would. I will get behind him and cheer him on until he screws up and I can say, "I told you so!" -

I feel like Road House 2 isn't getting enough attention. Instead of popcorn you should have been able to buy torches and pitchforks and a map to the homes of those responsible. -

Gentlemen, I give you the finest call ever made by a referee:

I think the best thing that could come out of it is for this league to last several years and help develop a much wider pool of officials from which the NFL can hire.

WAY too much Patriot* love around here (my analogy)
ocemur replied to buffaloboyinATL's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
As a Buffalo sports and Bills fan specifically, I'm 98% scar tissue at this point. I just don't feel the outrage burn quite as hot as I used to. And while that's true, The cheating cheaters cheated and cheated us and everyone else. They've had multiple first round picks taken away and been fined (I'm too lazy to look it up, so I might be off a bit) millions of dollars by the League FOR CHEATING. Now, I'm much less angry than I used to be. I've gotten older, I care about the NFL less and the scar tissue helps. So, now I only want to see Brady, Belichik and Kraft convicted of Fraud and sentenced to 20 years in Federal Prison, The Patriots Franchise revoked and all wins since 2000 vacated and the State of Massachusetts returned to Wampanoag tribe. I used to be really angry and wanted them punished much more severely. -
I did a couple of searches and didn't see this info I was looking for on the board. I thought maybe other folks might be looking for some of this at some point. Dolphins expected to cut Tannehill
ocemur replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Yep. Rex had a very demanding, highly specific scheme. If the DE was supposed to take the outside shoulder of the OT, he might as well forget about any counter moves he has in his repertoire. Often he used the outside rushers to try and open lanes for blitzers, not unlike using a massive DT to absorb double teams and keep the LBs clean. The pressure was supposed to come from the scheme, not a talented player winning match ups. -

I'll miss Tannehill. Who will now step forward to carry the mantle of Chad Pennington in the AFCE? -
Which prospect do you NOT want the Bills to draft?
ocemur replied to LSHMEAB's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
The only pick/prospect in the last few years I was dead set against was DeShone Kizer, the QB from Notre Dame that Cleveland took in 2017. The thing that sealed it for me was a conversation I saw between him and Jon Gruden. Gruden asked him if he liked winning or if he hated losing. He replied something like, I like to win, winning is fun. That's the wrong answer. I want guys who lose sleep over one play that they messed up years ago. I want the guys who despise losing. I want guys who are miserable when they get beat and work their tails off to make sure it doesn't happen. -
While we are at it... Shows that will never be rebooted.

I wonder if the Network Nightly News shows are on the way out. The audiences skew 50+ in age and people are getting their news elsewhere. The shows used to be like a public service and I think written into the licensing agreements with the FCC. They cost a ton and as they lose viewers, they are likely going away. -

I wonder what the legalese disclaimers would be for retail mushrooms. "Caution: Objects may not be there at all" or "Warning: Playing the game 'Operation' while using this product may result in hours of laughter and no winner".
