Gay had great seasons in 21/22. Not so much 23/24. I'm ok with giving Bass one more season to see if he can find 87%+ again.

As far as a complete career with the Bills, I'm giving it to Nate Odomes. Nate was solid throughout his 7 year stint. Winfield was never spectacular with us but played better as a Viking. McGee had 2 solid seasons in 04 & 05. And Tre had easily the greatest single season (2019) of any Bills CB. Benford is a good cb but needs more improvement in play making. James & Byrd deserve props for their play in that era. I never saw Byrd Sr play and vaguely remember James. All eyes were on 32.

They can be found in the later rounds. That's why I'd lean toward DT @ 30.

One caveat is that most pundits feel there are only 12-14 true 1st round caliber players. If we burn a 2nd round pick to draft between 15-18 is it really worth it? I'd try to stay put at 30 and hope Grant or Amos are still there. Or give up a 4th to move up a few slots for Grant.

I agree but I can't wrap my head around the timing? Why doesn't the NFL release PED results well before FA? That way you really discourage players from taking them in the first place. And every grown man is responsible for knowing what's going into his body. If the team has this info and chooses to sign the player (Hoecht) then that's the risk they (Beane) take. But at least they have that choice. Beane was blindsided by Ogunjobi and was kinda stuck sticking with him.

Unless they schedule KC, Cincy, Baltimore Philly four out of the first 6 games. Now that would be Billsy....

The league I think should have a responsibility to release all PED suspensions before early negotiations begin. I agree Hoecht's contract should've been lower to reflect this suspension. Yesterday was unfortunate and given a day to reflect and listening to this presser, my anger at Beane has diminished substantially. Maybe this event forces us to be aggressive at DL in this DL heavy draft.

So his coaches are asking him to not get sacks. Run support, TFL's and pressures are more important. You do realize a qb like Mahomes can still complete a td pass under pressure. In the history of the NFL, I've yet to see a qb complete a td pass while sacked. Rousseau does not have the pass rush tool box to ever get to 10 sacks, let alone 12+. I really hate this take. On to the topic at hand and as @YoloinOhio implied, maybe if we do go hard on DL with the first several picks this will be a blessing in disquise. Hopefully an appeal lowers the games.

Dude you're really lowering the bar for your opinion of our DL over the last several years. I'll go on record as saying both Ed and Greg are overpaid based on their production. Maybe sacks are so yesterday, less nuance. The current analytical "lennys" love their qb hits and pressures. That's how we stop 15 until it doesn't work. DQ was worthless last year. AJE is the reincarnation of Kelsay. The bottom line is we're never winning a SB without at least 1 elite game wrecking player on the DL. Rams had Donald. KC has Jones. The Eagles and Howie find D players who fight. Groot in that last playoff game looked like Diggs in his last playoff game. I appreciate the excellent moves BB has made but he's struggled with DL.

When it comes to players on the DL, Beane has struggled. He's respectable with the other positions and finding mid round diamonds. But his entire career is marked with selective failures at DE / DT. Hoecht better be one hoecht of a player to justify eating 6 games right out of the gate. He's not a jag nor is he a 2M/ yr player. This is impactful.

Pretty much everybody other than Josh is rotational. Are you OK with paying 2 new FA"'s nearly $8M each for playing only 65% of the regular season? I would rather put that combined $16M toward a pass rusher who's not getting pegged for enhancements. If they were not expected to start, them why would BB use so much cap on them? And on top of this the NFL should ethically have some obligation to disclose PED offenders BEFORE FA starts.

I agree, in order to get anything out of him you must gradually ease him into the season. With load management, pitch counts and emphasis on 3rd down. Then hopefully he's near 100% approaching the playoffs.

Can anyone describe Bosa without using the term "when healthy". We did not improve our pass rushing production very much. Maybe a sack or two? I knew our odds of getting a Garrett, Crosby, Hendrickson were slim to none. Thought maybe Beane could've gone after Sweat or Koonce more aggressively? Who knows what we have in Bosa & Hoecht?? So that leaves the 6-8 brothers AJ & Greg. Neither show up in the playoffs and neither is likely to ever touch 10 sacks. We need to draft a diamond pass rusher next month. I'm already looking at 2026 FA pass rushers.

I know when McDuffie came off the board, BB probably panicked a little. Too bad his few scouts didn't steer him toward Karlaftis as insurance for AJE. Elam will join a long list of 1st round busts. A 5th is better than nothing. Maybe we use that pick to find a hungry CB like Benford.

Or Bosa has 5 sacks and it becomes a dribbler back to the mound for Beane. You know a fa acquisition is bad when you hear dozens of comments like "when healthy" or "it's only a 1 yr deal".
