Anyone else on the John Michael Schmitz bandwagon?
LABILLBACKER replied to 78thealltimegreat's topic in The Stadium Wall
Schmitz & Mauch would be a hellava combo in the first 2 rounds. We'd have to pray a diamond wr falls to 3rd? -
Kurt Warner's "Study Ball" review of Bengals game.
LABILLBACKER replied to Maine-iac's topic in The Stadium Wall
Saffold, Quessenberry and Crowder. Think about that. These are absolute dumpster dive cheap Jags who do nothing to improve this offense. Q was the clown who almost ended Josh's season. Saffold our worst graded olineman and thanks for nothing Crowder. Meanwhile McMensa wastes a 1st round pick on a CB he hardly let's play. Mind- numbing..... -
Kurt Warner's "Study Ball" review of Bengals game.

Why we abandoned the easy checkdowns which also act as your running game will be the great mystery of 2022? -
Jim Nantz just spent alot of time talking about the challenges Josh & the Bills endured this season. Just said he wouldn't be surprised to see Josh not at Pebble next year because he might be in Vegas.

Kurt Warner's "Study Ball" review of Bengals game.
LABILLBACKER replied to Maine-iac's topic in The Stadium Wall
Dorsey had few hot reads or crossing routes all season. And yes Josh has to be coached up to value the checkdown as much as the fly route. When your weapons are few and teams double Diggs, you revert to hero ball. -
Should the Bills switch to a 3-4 defense?
LABILLBACKER replied to Tipster19's topic in The Stadium Wall
Exactly...Spector and Bernard are terrible...we're about to lose Edmunds...that leaves Milano....it's not happening, would take way to long to flip back. -

Beane is not the glaring problem for this organization. It's McDermott's incessant need for defensive players over using common sense and building around Josh. Look at all the draft capital and cap$ we've used on defense. I highly doubt Beane just did that on his own. -

Technically we play a 4-2-5. There's never a 3rd linebacker on the field. And realistically Edmunds is a strong safety backpedaling into coverage. So we run a 4-1-6 Tampa2 zone. It only works if you get immediate pressure on the qb. It would take 2-3 years to switch. We need more front 4 pressure. We need less zone and more man press (30%). -
I think 99% of fans realize this. As you accurately said earlier this is an offensive league with rules that further favor the offense. We desperately need a WR2 and OL overhaul. Ben Johnson would be amazing for this team. The strategy from Day1 should've been surround Josh with excellence. And other than Diggs that didn't happen.

McDermott runs the whole show. He selected Beane, Frazier and Dorsey. The defensive scheme that has failed this team in 4 straight playoffs is his. Yes he's a man of high character, culture and process. But beyond that his actual coaching skills leave alot to be desired. I realize why a small percentage of fans are terrified to return to a drought scenario if he is replaced. But I'm 100x more terrified we'll waste the talents of the greatest qb Buffalo will ever see by keeping him and his failed associates around. But if your happy and content with winning regular season games then he's your Schottenheimer type leader. What's the point of competing if you don't strive for a championship.

I agree. We're not getting an opener or a Thanksgiving game which is great.

Josh = Phil Rivers (just messenger)
LABILLBACKER replied to Over 29 years of fanhood's topic in The Stadium Wall
Exactly....his support system is a joke compared to Mahomes/Burrow. Not to mention some knucklehead coaches. I'll never blame Josh for the lost opportunities of 20, 21, 22. And I'm hardly convinced this regime will fix things. -

Op is drunk and the football fans he refers to are his cats. -
Scouts, Scheme, Evolution, free agency, and a Hands-Off Coach
LABILLBACKER replied to Virgil's topic in The Stadium Wall
Exactly....in the playoffs we never ramp it up. We're never physical or aggressive. We have one reliable blitzer in Milano and Leslie rarely calls blitzes. And as far as calling a Cover2 man- up, forget about it. The scheme sort-of works in the regular season with a healthy elite pass rusher (Von). But without him we were toast in the playoffs. Frazier needs to go and the scheme needs to change. -
2023 Running Back Depth Chart: You Choose
LABILLBACKER replied to Rigotz's topic in The Stadium Wall
Yeah the more I look at acquiring Mostert, the more it makes sense. Not sure what will happen to Hines but I'm not thrilled with allocating alot of cap space for STers. Pu a return guy/RB and power RB as UDFA's at league minimum. -
Why in God's name should he waste his time playing dodgeball with some 3rd alternate pro bowlers when you can play Pebble with celebrities. And as a golfer for 55 years, a right handed golfer puts very little stress on your right elbow while swinging. Have fun Josh.

PSA: This is Sean McDermott's defense, not Leslie Frazier's
LABILLBACKER replied to QB Bills's topic in The Stadium Wall
When playoffs begin we see Sean struggle against a higher tier of opponents. If he's allowing Frazier to completely call the defensive game plan then maybe that too is a huge issue. From week 3 on the offense just looked off and disorganized. Now all the sports shows including Cowherd etc are saying the Bills have regressed. So back to the drawing board and under the radar.
