Are we more deserving of the SB hype this year than last?
LABILLBACKER replied to Success's topic in The Stadium Wall
Completely agree. No more sitting or coddling rookies. Sink or Swim. On offense we gained alot on OL and weapons. Besides Kincaid and Torrence you can add McGovern, Harty, Sherfield, Harris. Maybe Hines, Shorter, Murray contribute? The real concerns I have is Dorsey & the schedule. Ken has to use 12 personnel to make K&K shine. Cook & Harris must expand the run game. And finally JA needs to appreciate the value of dump-offs and checkdowns. -

Wake me up when Herbert wins a playoff game. Bills are 3. -

I don't want to be hyped or SB favorites. Back to going a little under the radar by the pundits who think we've regressed. Beane has done a great job this off season filling holes that will protect Josh. Sean had the courage to move on from Leslie and take control. The team does have a better balanced roster. Buffalo weather still worries me. I don't think our players have the mindset to do wind & snow. Yes the schedule is very tough but I think 11-12 wins is still doable. One thing I can 100% guarantee is this team will not have to experience the crazy drama of last season..... -
This is HUGE. Both literally and figuratively. Absolutely great signing. 1 down, 1 to go (Leonard Floyd)?

Do you guys feel right about FA/Draft and the "Process" ?
LABILLBACKER replied to PrimeTime101's topic in The Stadium Wall
I'm going to go out on a limb and assume the Bills will not experience the drama Rollercoaster ride of 22. The OL and pass catchers have been upgraded. Josh in theory should have a cleaner pocket which should reduce turnovers. But the biggest wildcard will be Dorsey. I have my doubts about his ability to blend everyone into an offense with an actual identity. I had always hoped Josh would have a steady offensive mentor (Dabol) forever. Ok Ken....take the wheel.... -
The best ability is availability.

Beane on Rich Eisen - great listen and insight

He's as solid a GM as we've ever had. Great interview. -
2 straight years with ankle problems and the drops will transition Dalton to 2nd most targets. I think this will be Gabes's last season as a Bill.

Bills sign Latavius Murray to a one-year deal

Exactly, do we really need Gilliam? -

I agree. I wanted Hines to get more touches. Now that's unlikely? -
First 2 picks of Kincaid & Torrence are absolutely solid. And I agree for some bizarre reason we completely struggle in the 3rd round. I'm terrified for our 3rd round Edmunds pick. I gave it a B+. Hopefully Dorian proves us all wrong.

Beane: “working on at least 2 veteran UFA’s”

Give me Poona Ford and Leonard Floyd and I'm good. -
Based on age and recent AV, give me Floyd & Ford.
-
Just finished watching tape of Williams. This polarizing pick may very well turn out to be a good selection. At the least he'll be a better pass rusher/blitzer than Edmunds and his instincts do look better too. The success of Dorian I think will depend on if Sean moves to a base 4-3.

So who winds with the Bills after May 2?
LABILLBACKER replied to 78thealltimegreat's topic in The Stadium Wall
Based on age, AV and production in 21, 22 I'd be all over Leonard Floyd and Poona Ford. Honorable mentioned would go to Ngakoue & Suh. -
We need to throw to both. Dawson has definitely cleaned up his drops. Kincaid just simply drops nothing. I would hope neither is jettisoned to blocking duty. I consider Kincaid like a TE/ WR hybrid.
-
Yup....Aaron as a 1 yr rental will give the Jets a little temporary boost but it will come crashing down once Rodgers gets a load of the NY media. Getting past McDaniels and the WR duo will continue to be a problem especially with Fangio getting a couple extra toys. If Tua goes down again it all comes crashing down. Bill and his 20 some picks did well especially with Gonzalez but Mac will continue to struggle. Not worried about NE. The Bills (McB) finally figured it out. Protect Josh. Surround Josh with more weapons and outscore teams. Don't get so caught up on defense. Keep building your team around 17 and hope Ken takes that next step.

Small theory about our 1st and 3rd picks vis a vis USC
LABILLBACKER replied to dave mcbride's topic in The Stadium Wall
Williams projects to be substantially better than Bernard/Spector. It will depend on if Sean allows him to blitz enough to show off his strength. Tremaine always struggled to find the proper blitz seams. As far as coverage goes we'll have to see? -
Klein and Dotson have the most experience. I can easily see us try to sign Myles Jack. The rest of the ILB fodder can compete with each other for rotational snaps.
-
Eagles Texans Seahawks Steelers Lions?
-
It's exactly 23% as of 2022. But still a big chunk.
-
Yup, McB I think FINALLY realized their jobs and the future of this team involves surrounding the cyborg with weapons and protection. From here on out its all about the Offense.
-
Yup Bobo...as a Bruin alumni I saw every play. He doesn't have a ton of speed but absolutely great hands and catches everything like Kincaid.

RD 7, Pick 252: CB Alex Austin, Oregon State
LABILLBACKER replied to Chandler#81's topic in The Stadium Wall
I'll allow Sean his one obligatory CB every draft. -
I'm hoping and praying we return to a more traditional 4-3 alignment. And besides Milano, I'd have no problem seeing a rotation similar to the DL. The days of the 255lb thumper is over. Linebackers will be smaller, lighter hybrids capable of coverage and blitzing.
