Lol... making the playoffs would mean the Bills offense managed to come alive, so no Bills fan would be upset by that development. No playoffs but obvious progress would also be an acceptable outcome given the Bills roster.

The compensation at best would likely be a 4th maybe 5th. I’d do it though, he’s got limited time left and the Eagles can still do something this year. This team has tons of holes and another draft pick will help restock the shelves.

If only to do McCoy a solid. Eagles can still win the NFCE. No reason for McCoy to slog it out on a rebuilding squad that is far away from contending.

Would you prefer Zay Jones, or Smith- Schuster ? Trading up for non QBs when you’ve purged a roster down to expansion team level isn’t smart if you expect to be good in just a couple years. We don’t even know if Allen will be worth it, there’s a good chance he won’t . With the amount of needs on this offense, drafting ten offensive players isn’t a bad strategy. It’s too bad next draft looks top heavy on DL talent. The Bills needs offense desperately.

Definitely not saying it’s better to trade down at all. However, trading up for non QBs is rarely worth the extra cost.

I’m not saying having ten picks is bad in any way, but history shows they will not all be good players. Take only 5 players with those ten picks, and you’re left with even less. I hope they draft closer to ten.

A certain number of NFL draft picks pan out. It’s great to have convictions on players , but odds are these guys aren’t better than the field at drafting. Picking more players increases your odds that you get some keepers. Zay Jones is in year two and we still don’t know if he can play. Spending multiple picks on non- quarterbacks isn’t a good strategy when you purge the roster of pre existing talent. GMs and HCs don’t get 5 seasons to turn teams around anymore.

Nope. They traded down due only to organizational dysfunction of entering a draft with a lame duck GM. McD was making the picks, and he moved up multiple times for specific players rather than letting the draft come to him and spending just a single pick. McDermott has been involved in just two Bills drafts, so that’s the data we have to go by. They seem to have a penchant for wasting picks. I, for one hope it stops. This team needs a lot of players after their roster purge.

If you’re waiting for a real team and a real GM, the Bills may get there. Waiting for “ real” aka new ownership ? It’s probably time to turn in your fan card.

2 drafts for McD. While we know he chose to move down instead of draft a badly needed QB ( due to organizational dysfunction), he also paid multiple draft picks for Zay Jones and Dawkins. Two drafts of move ups is definitely a pattern.

Exactly 3, and that makes the whole thing a lot less sexy. When you’ve torn a roster down to expansion team level, you need all the players you can get. They literally need to draft 10 players and hope for a great haul. It’s the only way they get past year 3 without being shown the door.

Of course a team would prefer 5 or 6 difference makers, however spending multiple picks on players is mostly a fools errand. It’s how you end up with “ difference maker” Zay Jones instead of JuJu Smith Schuster or Golliday. The draft is a crap shoot, so outside of QB let it fall to you and draft more players. Tre’Davious White is pretty darn good and was picked in the ‘20s of round one.

This is fact. We will have to see what the offense looks like with added talent around Allen to get a true evaluation on him. However the addition of this WR talent won’t change his accuracy. He will be what he will be, and it may work. Or he may constantly miss open targets and flame out. Data is mixed thus far, and Allen’s deficiencies reading coverages and recognizing pressures compound the difficulty in evaluating him as a passer.

Interesting stat. A sub-82 yard passing day looks closer to a 50/50 win proposition than I would have thought.

They inquired and apparently made an offer. Since the Raiders were pretty set on trading Mack out of Conference, (and the Bears paid a steep price )the Bills would have needed to pay even more.
