Stadiums with the Most Expensive Food and Drink
Boatdrinks replied to Scott7975's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
But it does go into someone else’s pockets. Shares of the Green Bay Packers do not include any equity, pay any dividends or increase in value. It’s a token “ share “ of stock , really. Around 5 million shares of this “ stock” have been sold. -

A bottle of wine that costs $10 is often 5 times that price in a restaurant setting, so it’s not that far off. Can’t exepect retail or close to retail pricing in a stadium situation. -
The polls don’t surprise me. Lots of whiny upset lefties out there since Trump won the election. Polls are the equivalent of “ online muscles “ in many ways so the responses are predictable. Outrageous responses given out of anger and for shock value. I think your compromise position of 20 is more than fair.

I consider my overall views to be on the libertarian side and am an atheist. I think abortion should remain legal, with restrictions. Not the new deep south restrictions though. Essentially the previous status quo. I confess I am not going to dig further into the issue, as my overall position will not change. I haven’t read what’s in the NY law and probably won’t. I don’t support it , as it is far too extreme. I don’t support the far left on many things, and this is no exception. It appears to be simply a huge F U to the extreme right , but just maybe I’m naive and some folks actually think this change is somehow desirable ? Again , it looks like the work of some extremists that I don’t support anyway so I don’t need to know any more about them. I don’t vote for them anyway.

Yep, the Raiders were legendary partiers and did just fine. The Bills mistakes in Supe 25 were on the field. Primarily, the defense didn’t show up and let the NYG play keepaway. On offense, they should have run the ball more vs DB heavy personnel groupings. The Giants were an elite level team that year on D, and their meeting with the Bills just a month earlier was a low scoring affair. Most would say the Bills should have had that one, especially having the last possession. They wasted time on that drive and needed just another decent gain or two to have it in the bag. Perhaps they could have emerged victorious in one of the other 3 SBs , but they weren’t the superior team in any of those. If they had managed to land Ted Washington in the ‘91 draft it may have been enough to get them a win vs run heavy WAS or DAL teams.

For now.... -
Fair enough. I’m not trying to normalize it, as it’s an extreme and unsupportable position. An outrageous overreaction to a perceived threat ? I don’t know, but I don’t think many ( if any) would actually have this procedure at that stage. Perhaps they are telling who they are. I’m certain they wouldn’t want to negotiate down from the previous status quo, therefore my reasons for the hunch. Obviously your parallel is unsupportable as well. Either way, I don’t support the measure, I don’t like Cuomo and I voted for Trump in 2016 fwiw. I still don’t like ultra right religious conservatives.

The Russians did what ? Not sure about you, but I don’t think Russia had any impact on our Presidential election. That aside, I think most people know some sort of showdown on abortion is happening soon. Both sides are digging in. I’m not in favor of the NY law and think things should have remained status quo. I still see it as Political posturing gone mad. I didn’t see the celebration and don’t care to. As stated , I think both sides wingnuts suck.
-
No, I didn’t see it. Political posturing I’m sure. I’m not for “ late term abortion” or whatever they want to call it. However, six weeks seems too restrictive. It seems all reason goes out the window when these two sides butt heads. I’m not abhorred by it as it just seems like an overreaction to the extremism on the other side. I don’t know for sure, but I’d guess it hardly ever happens. Who waits that long? Most are probably performed far earlier than that. I think it should be legal up to a certain point, which would be much sooner than “late term”. That’s about it. I’m not an expert, but it would seem a very risky procedure at that late stage. Keep it legal, have some kind of ( reasonable) restrictions on it and that’s about it. I don’t expect decency when it comes to wingnuts, be they righties or lefties.

What is better, no guns, or more guns?
Boatdrinks replied to Security's topic in Politics, Polls, and Pundits
Yep, laws don’t mean much to those who break them. Lefties don’t want to talk about Chicago issues , as that would be “ racist”. In other news, the VA Beach shooter’s pic hasn’t been shown on CNN. Would that be the case if the perp was an “ angry white male” ? -
Interesting thought, but I disagree. I think those changes were a pre-emptive strike for what many knew was coming with the stacking of the Supreme Court deck. Abortion is one thing where Repubs can’t stop themselves. Right wing crazies ( at least as bad as the left wing nuts ) have been waiting forever to try to control others personal choices based on religious crap. Freedom of religion is fine, until their overwhelming need for everyone else to buy in takes over. They just can’t help themselves. I can’t stand the vast majority of the lefties nonsense, but I’m an equal opportunity hater of righty stupidity as well.

Stadiums with the Most Expensive Food and Drink
Boatdrinks replied to Scott7975's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Buffalo doesn’t have the Fortune 500 presence to charge Jerry World prices, so they will have to get creative. The team can’t play in that stadium forever. A huge reno is going to incur a hefty price tag as well. There isn’t a cheap option. -

Used to pay close to $100 a month for just mobile service that included just 90 plan minutes a month. After that you paid by the minute. Texting wasn’t included and data on a phone was a pipe dream. Now it’s unlimited data on an iPhone for $50 a month. Insane! TV you have options , but again if live sports in your living room are a huge thing for you cost cutting is tough. What we get on cell service today compared to 1994 ( that $ 100 is about $ 162 now) is just tremendous value for the money. -
"Pump the Brakes" Narrative by Reporters and Analysts

Media coverage these days = two things: those with “ hot takes” and those who are terrified to be wrong about anything. -

I disagree. Cell phone service ( originally crazy expensive) has become very affordable. Most people , middle class or not have a smartphone. You don’t even need a contract anymore. Air transportation is pretty cheap these days ( more if you want a luxury experience), hi speed internet is ok. I’ll concur on the cable tv though. Still outrageous , but mostly due to live sports. Just about everything else, you could ditch cable/ satellite and be fine. -

However, the price of admission to the game is among the lowest in the league. A few extra $ for the accoutrements isn’t going to break the bank. -
Who Should Be Next On The Wall Of Fame?
Boatdrinks replied to BillyWhiteShows's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Well, they have played 5 concerts at Rich/ RWS/ NEF . Not many bands can say that , so I’d have to agree they are worthy of the wall. Mick’s wisecrack during the 2015 show about staying in the “ Tom Brady suite “ at a local hotel with an under inflated pillow was hysterically on point. -
Yep, pretty much par for the course. Many good points raised in this thread but the bottom line is still the same : too much money to be made ( or lost) for a work stoppage in a sport with notoriously short career spans. The main issues on the players side are a bigger slice of the overall revenue, player “ safety” i.e minimal practice time and perhaps an adjustment to the preseason length, marijuana testing and Goodell ‘s power / control over discipline. As we’ve seen before, a work stoppage or lockout may happen, but it will end before any real games are played. The players will get a compromise and miss training camps which they mostly like anyway. Even a shortened season would be stunning. Revenues are too huge for either party to pass up.

Which of these do we need to retire first?
Boatdrinks replied to Kirby Jackson's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I voted for trust the process as McBeane is a sort of truncated way to refer to the Bills HC and GM.... but can we throw in at the end of the day”, “ generational talent “ and “ with that being said “ ( personal most hated phrase used on this board) while we’re at it ? -
The NFL's Top Remaining Free Agents

I’d venture a player would need to have played in the league in the last couple seasons to be considered a top FA.
