  1. Opening day, 1980 season vs Miami. Bills win 17-7. First win vs Dolphins in a decade. I remember : Bills intercepted in closing minutes to seal the win. Fans flooded onto field and tore goalposts down.
  2. Difficult to register to vote in Texas, eh? Just for fun I looked up the procedure. You must go to the voter registrar’s office in your county. You can also pick up an application at libraries, high schools and government offices. You can print an online application and mail it to the voter registrar’s office. It must be mailed and accepted at least 30 days before the election date. You must have a govt issued photo ID. Sounds only slightly more involved than buying a 6 pack and a pack of smokes at 7-11.
  3. Sounds like a very good reason for wanting the wall, no ? Why will those immigrants vote democrat ( hint : free stuff). That’s political, not racist. As for Puerto Rico, they have had the opportunity many times in the past to vote for full statehood. They’ve voted it down every time. What do you think has changed ?
  4. It has meaning yes. Is it inflammatory ? No. Not to normal people. It’s just used to describe something. In this case something unwanted, something that shouldn’t be there. An invasion of ants in your kitchen, for example. A bunch of illegals with no right to be there is an invasion. It could also be a positive, like “ the British Invasion” of rock and roll. The Beatles and the Stones. People still love ‘em. There’s something refreshing about not worrying whether something is PC or not. It’s really gone to far. If you think “ invasion” is enough to make a stable person commit heinous acts of violence against others, you’re farther gone than I originally thought. That’s saying something.
  5. Lol what a joke the WaPo is. Obviously anyone who commits a mass shooting has some kind of mental illness. But hey, let’s just blame it on Trump. He inspires the mentally stable to do unstable things!
  6. "Invasion" means an attack, asylum seekers are nothing of the sort. You are in so deep you can't see the obvious truth It’s a word, nothing more. There are laws for seeking Asylum, and many of these people could seek Asylum in other countries that are safe long before getting to the USA.
  7. That is partisan rhetoric as seen on CNN. These shooters were both terrorists. They both set out to shoot large numbers of people in a public place. One was shot down before he could kill even more than he did, or the Dayton toll would have probably exceeded El Paso. One shooter is deemed worse by a segment of the media because the other appears to have left - leaning tendencies. He is then given a pass as just crazy with an “ unclear motive “ but casually lumped in with the El Paso shooter ( much worse because - Trump supporter). They are both terrorists , end of story. No it’s not. I believe the libs talked about it after Columbine. There’s no politics involved in suggesting video games or internet notoriety played some role. Most people don’t shoot others, regardless of their political “ side of the fence”.
  8. You can’t do much about crazy. It is an invasion , and we have immigration laws that can and should be enforced to stop it. There’s no hate there, that is projected by the media. Enforcing laws isn’t hateful. Most people aren’t going to head out and shoot anyone. Personal responsibility, you know ? People have committed crimes due to all kinds of “ influences “ from drugs, to statements to rock and roll lyrics ? It’s still crazy, and I’d challenge you to show me where the President suggested that any citizen should attack another in any way. Leave law enforcement and immigration to the personnel trained to do it. Never look for logic from a nutjob who shoots people.
  9. There is no hateful rhetoric. That’s a media creation. Yes, there would be an outcry because thatvreligion is known to condone and glorify murdering of “ infidels” ( meaning anyone who isn’t Muslim). I think there was quite an outcry about the synagogue shooting. However, there is no particular religious ( or other ) organization that the perp belonged to. That makes things difficult. There’s no obvious connection between a few one off nutjobs that commit these crimes. Nor was there in Sandy Hook, or Columbine et al. These were committed by Americans, not foreigners. They happen to be white, as are most Americans. What should people do, be outraged at white folks ? Be ashamed of their whiteness and stay indoors or repent openly to every non white person they see ? ( CNN and Don Lemon in particular would support this ). So there’s not much to be done. It’s not that huge a threat on a daily basis is any one place.
  10. I’d still say you’re pretty safe in a synagogue or wherever. While I said terrorism is always an important concern, it still remains that the threat is not all that great. These are not schizophrenic views. Kind of like driving a car on the highway. You’re taking a risk, but the overall risk isn’t all that high. You’re probably fine. You could lock yourself in, not attend any religious services and shop on Amazon or use instacart. You’d be reducing your risk, but I’d venture that it’s overkill to do so. Your risk is probably much greater going for a stroll in the ‘hood of Chicago than it is going to random place of worship. You can’t live life off of CNN hyperbole.
  11. Who said it wasn’t important ? I’m not sure what you’ll suggest to be done about it though. Deport all white male American citizens to somewhere ? The threat isn’t that great, just overblown by some media outlets. I’d say you’re pretty safe, even if you stroll into WalMart. You’re really grasping here. There is no common organization ( almost certainly not any religious group ) that any f these peeps is known to be a part of. The Dayton and El Paso shooters seem quite opposite of each other. Their only connection seems to be that they were both Caucasian ( as is most of the Country ) so........?
  12. The opener is always important, even more so when it’s a division opponent. Throw in the fact that one of the Bills divisional opponents is almost certain to sweep the season series and the impact becomes greater still. I wouldn’t be so quick to describe the Jets and Darnold outplaying the Bills as an “ unlikely “ outcome. It could easily happen, and Darnold already outplayed Allen in their first meeting. I wouldn’t be surprised if it happened again, and the Jets will probably be a more solid favorite by the time the game rolls around.
  13. Seems to be a big problem. I’d guess we need to start vetting white males before they apply for citizenship. I’m sure there’s a backlog of these cases, but Trump should send extra personnel to the borders. See Tibs, that was easy. End thread
  14. Crazy that it’s the last one. Seems like they just got to SJF.
  15. But where is the media outage over these shooting deaths ? Don’t all lives lost to senseless shootings matter ? It’s outrageous and it must be somebody else’s fault ( Trump) that people are shot everyday. Something must be done !
  16. It still doesn’t affect me because if I go to a Walmart it’s in Hamburg NY not El Paso Texas. Not exactly the same thing. Still, the liberal media has selective outrage about shootings. Just depends who’s pulling the trigger .
  17. Nope. Where was “ the hate coming from” then ? Dems don’t see logic.
  18. That’s a crock. Plenty of mass shootings during the Obama presidency. Ridiculous to pin the acts of a few nutjobs on a President., regardless of what you think of his policies. CNN is stirring up more politically charged rhetoric than anyone else since 2016.
  19. Probably ,(who said loneliness ? ) That’s your word meant to imply some type of empathy or sympathy for the perp, of which I have none. The reason for the difference would be that particular religion teaches that type of behavior to be honorable or even expected. Absolutely, yes my opinion would be completely different. Why wouldn’t my opinion be different if the guy yelled out a religion based statement.? This was a heinous act , but not one driven by a religious ideology as far as I know. What are the factors then ? Yes I think the internet has created a lot of antisocial types. If their views and actions are warped enough, they want their fifteen minutes of internet infamy. It’s at least a contributing factor.
  20. Practices ? None. I’ve seen too many Bills QBs over the years that had a “ great practice “ time and again, but stunk in games. Certainly enough to know it doesn’t mean squat. If Josh Allen is consistently bad after about 8 games, I’ll be right there on the worry train. Not now.
  21. Offhand I’d say that sounds a bit high. Somewhere in the $150 range would put the Bills above the bottom quarter of the league in average ticket price. That seems doable. I agree that the pricing needs to be on an upward trajectory. The stadium and its features will have a lot to do with what that price point is. I’m interested to see the results of the study commissioned by the owners whether it’s released or just sort of “ leaks out”. There’s a long way to go on this.
  22. I think the young person you’re describing is becoming increasingly common, created by the internet obsessed society that we now are. I don’t know the percentage of these shootings that are carried out with illegal or legally obtained weapons. It’s just not any one thing , it’s a perfect storm of things from what they are taught at school to decreased social interaction due to internet and smartphone addiction along with other influences. I don’t think it’s pure madness in the way of say a Dahmer or some other serial killer. Just a violent lashing out due to other psychosis brought on by environmental factors. I still think that most anyone could get their hands on an illegal high powered weapon fairly easily. That’s just my opinion though. While I am not a “ gun person “, there are substantial constitutional, cultural and political barriers to any sweeping changes via legislation.
  23. Maybe they do, but I don’t think the impact would be very big. The black market is too big. How did outlawing marijuana turn out, for example. Your suggestions on buybacks sound good, but there is a lack of respect for law enforcement in America that is deep rooted in some cultures. There are political and cultural obstacles to these things. I just don’t see an easy fix.
  24. And what of the “ mass shootings “ that take place over a summer in say , Chicago ? Crickets on CNN et al.... I believe the Dayton shooter’s weapon was obtained illegally. Again, criminals will find a way to obtain these weapons. How does one rid the black market of the flood of weapons currently available ? That’s a much tougher problem to solve.
  25. Yeah, doesn’t fit their narrative. The perp was a lefty, didn’t legally purchase his weapon, and was shot down before he could take even more lives ( which he would have). “ Nothing to see here “
