  1. If he’s out of the protocol, there’s is not any difference between playing in week 7 or this week . Practice time is the only factor. If you want to play I safe with his health then by your logic Allen backs up Barkley all year. This is concussion protocol, not a hamstring .
  2. I don’t think there is any room for discretion or “ optics” with the concussion protocol, and the team doctor is not the one calling the shots. Its an independent Neurologist. If you show symptoms ( ie fail the test) you are in the protocol. Each injury is unique and there are varying degrees but once you fail the test the only differentiating factor between injuries is the length of time it takes for the player to clear the protocol. Allen showed symptoms, however slight and he failed. He appears to be recovering quickly. If this was the 1990s, judging from his actions afterward , he gets an ammonia cap on the sidelines and returns to the game. For obvious reasons those days are over. Edit : Allen hasn’t yet cleared the protocol. I’d venture if he clears it and practices tomorrow he plays. otherwise it’s Barkley.
  3. While the fans hot takes on the QB subject can be ridiculous at times, they are still just fans overreactions. No one can seriously think these have anything to do with decisions made at OBD over the years.
  4. NFLN sit ‘em and start ‘em fantasy segment makes no sense. They listed Mariotta, D. Walker , C Davis as sit ‘em vs BUF. Then they have the BUF defense as a sit ‘em ? Then D Henry is a start ‘em as well as the TEN defense . Strange ...
  5. Depends on the position of the defenders around him, but sure I can see that. You can be vulnerable to a cheap shot even when sliding; like Flacco was. It’s a fine line and Allen was pretty upright when he was being wrapped up initially. Seemed like he braced himself when he saw the headhunter coming at him and lowered his head instinctively . I’d guess that play will be fresh in his memory for awhile.
  6. You’re either in the protocol or out of it. Allen won’t be any more or less out of the protocol after the bye week if he’s out of it now. He’s the QB and has to work through the ups and downs. This is a big game in the AFC WC picture , so I don’t think McD or the organization will think about this situation like you are. If he’s the QB of the team, he plays when he’s cleared.
  7. Hosting a playoff game might be just out of reach, though.
  8. Finishing the season in the top five or higher in most or all defensive categories would be a pretty good argument for an elite defense.
  9. Or Allen could have taken the “ blitz beaters “ that Daboll’s scheme made available to him. He didn’t. As an aside, it wasn’t 50% blitz rate btw. It was in the 40s. But even with your exaggeration aside, Dabolls use of Yeldon in the second half was an adjustment that was made. The Pats weren’t going to sit idly by while the Bills ran the ball for an entire half. Many plays were left on the field by the Bills offense. Yards mean they were moving the ball effectively. Their mistakes kept the points off the board.
  10. Once ? So for you, Allen must never get tackled in the open field after a run again ? He has done the slide this season already, so it’s not like he never does it. Injury was unfortunate, but he’ll likely limit the hits over time. Of course , Newton still takes hits and what year is he in now? Anyway, the Bills don’t have to make a decision on Allen until after his 3rd season. Lots of time yet for the big picture to play out.
  11. How boring. And you’re still going to die.
  12. Rapport says Allen’s current status in protocol gives him “ a shot “ to be on the field Sunday on NFLN...
  13. For sure, a solid rushing game will keep them in 3rd and reasonable. Can’t get behind the sticks. A healthy Singletary could really help. Couldn’t agree more. Targeting rule would make cheap shot artists think twice. A penalty or fine is big, but not a big enough deterrent. There isn’t much gray area about intent in targeting, it either is or it isn’t.
  14. Pretty much. They’re only averaging 19 ppg, but are 8th in yardage. Points are the biggest issue, and turnovers a huge factor.
  15. Interesting take. I’m thinking Vrabel blitzes on a high % of plays because Belichick did and the Bills had trouble handling it. Won’t have to focus on taking away escape lanes if Allen doesn’t go. I think the O has their work cut out here.
  16. Well, he brought up a light hearted joke about what a nonsensical response to the original discussion might be.. I misinterpreted it as serious, and he explained it to me. I’m no Limbaugh fan, ( never was) but it’s a fact about the media, even sports media today. It gets old, and some of us vent about it. Maybe the media doesn’t bother you, that’s fine. Nothing wrong with others pointing out their hypocrisy, obsession and bias, though. Jumping into and twisting a conversation between two posters to fit your narrative ? Not fine. I’m done with this discussion.
  17. Ridiculous interpretation of discussion. Who ever said the reason any player is good is due to the media ? No one, ( and if they did, they’d be an idiot). However, the media today is obsessed with race and assumes that anyone who isn’t a minority is racist. We don’t care about a players race, only if they can play or not. They don’t stop bringing up the subject and it’s beyond tiresome. Bandito : Look at media outlet A. They’re writing about what a group of NFL QBs are doing, but only those of a certain racial background. Boat : That’s ridiculous. The media obsession with race is off the rails. Does everything, even enter -tainment have to come back to this ? C Bisc : Bills fans are such racists. It’s embarrassing.
  18. This is a good sign. Could still sit Sunday, but long term seems good.
  19. Can’t compare last years offense because it was devoid of talent. The defense had a strong game vs TEN and is probably what was being referenced in the post.
  20. I can’t think of a less vital player on the offense and STs continues to be sub par even with DiMarco.
  21. In the second half ( right up until the cheap shot that took him out ) I think Josh Allen looked to me like he absolutely thought he could bring his team back.
  22. The Bills are currently 4th in the NFL in rushing yards per game, and stand 8th in total yardage. After years of being behind the times offensively, the Bills look to have something resembling a modern NFL offense. They need to stop turning the ball over and start scoring more points. But run the ball more ? Man, this fan base is mercurial.
  23. Bills aren’t a big blitzing team. Probably won’t be huge factor in the game plan.
  24. Got it. At the time , I thought Limbaugh was full of it. Today? He’d probably be right. The media nonsense has really gone off the rails the few years and it’s out of control now.
