Deangelo Hall says Tre has been a top 3 corner...
Boatdrinks replied to Stank_Nasty's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Always hated Hall. He was the first domino to fall in the sequence of events that cost the Bills Ben Roethlisberger in the 04 draft. Shortly after he was picked, HOU got nervous that they wouldn’t get their CB with the Bills pick and cancelled their trade with the Bills. Ugh ! -
The problem with Bills offenses over the years hasn’t been their running game, though. They’ve lacked a modern NFL passing offense for years. That won’t be solved by running the ball more and limiting Allen. In the Bills defense, Daboll doesn’t seem like he wants to play 1970’s football. They need to clean up their execution on offense, not start playing small ball.

Any All-Pro Bills this year?
Boatdrinks replied to Drunken Pygmy Goat's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
They don’t have guys that are going to put up the numbers needed to make all pro. S Micah Hyde is a possibility, as that position doesn’t get the numbers that CBs do. Good solid team with no “ names “ . -
Exactly. Plays have been there and missed by Allen and others. It seems whenever an offense has issues, some fans resort to “ play calling “ as being the problem. It’s a false association, ie it didn’t work so you should have called the other thing blah blah blah. Aside from a couple questionable moments ( calling a second straight QB sneak on 4th and longer than a yard for example) Daboll has had a pretty good feel with his calls. Unless you have a clueless Dennison style run, run, pass scenario, play calling is the most overused cliche “ problem” in the book. It’s generally a lazy complaint.

So playing keep away to make the high powered offense stay on the bench is some kind of revelation? Remember Super Bowl 25 ? It’s been going on longer than that. as for their other 4 opponents, I didn’t see the games so can’t comment. Not all OCs come up with good game plans. KC has a lot of injuries at the skill positions and OL issues too. Their defense wasn’t great last year and they lost some of their better players there. The Colts gameplan was smart, but hardly innovative.

True, it may not be uncommon to have a lot of changes. That doesn’t mean fans can’t expect the offense to improve as the season goes on. Continuity isn’t assured in the NFL anymore, but it still takes more time for new players to get adjusted and get on the same page. There just isn’t any substitute for live reps, and the practice rules are limiting as we know. The old saying about offenses being behind the defenses early in the season is more true now than ever. While Allen has issues to work on, we are seeing some communication issues on the OL, the issues being discussed on the scramble drill et al.

Josh Allen - week FIVE report card
Boatdrinks replied to rayray808's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Well, EJ Manuel was overdrafted from the start and everyone but Nix / Whaley knew it. He was going to be available in the middle rounds. Allen is going to get multiple seasons , probably at least 3. Maybe more if the team wins. I’d say take that to the bank. He didn’t like the positioning of 25. He might have thrown Beasley into a huge hit or INT. Then pressure, so he escaped it. Simple miscommunication on a scramble drill is all. Allen was being cautious initially but it’s a fine line sometimes . Pats game was fresh in his mind and overall I think he did pretty well. -
Josh Allen - week FIVE report card

A 1st round NFL QB is going to get a minimum of 3 years and possibly more unless they are a flat out flop. Teams aren’t going to move on if they’re winning games while a QB is developing. I’ll agree that I saw enough out of Tannehill / Mariota to be ok with moving on without picking up the 5th year option. -
Status of AFC: Should Bills Go All In For 2019?
Boatdrinks replied to jwhit34's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
This ^^. It’s a year to year league, and if the Bills are in a good spot around the trade deadline they should be willing to make moves. Next year’s schedule appears tougher as well. Nothing is guaranteed , so they have to take shots when they have them. -
There Always Seems to Be One Bill Everybody Hates on Annually
Boatdrinks replied to Irv's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Fans want to see production that matches a players draft status / FA contract. Yeldon gets heat for his fumble, but fans don’t “ hate” ( overused snowflake term) on a 3rd RB if they’re being serious. He gets a handful of snaps and has done OK. Jones was a second round pick that the Bills moved up for and was expected to be a good WR 2. For various reasons, he didn’t produce in the way the team wanted him to. Fans see it, and are critical of that. It’s not “ hate”. -
Far too many ex-Pat dill holes on the NFL talking- head shows. Most are unwatchable now as every discussion somehow turns back to the Pats*.

It’s their second year with no Wood .

It's wonderful to be ignored by the NFL Media Machine!
Boatdrinks replied to Stallions's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Except the media talks about the big market teams whether they’re winning or not. There’s definitely a bias toward those teams. No big deal, but it’s there. -
