Division game for first so I’d expect a physical slugfest of a game. Things happen, so Bills fans will be watching closely.

Line definitely subject to change after PHL vs DAL tonite. We’ll see what happens, but I agree they might end up a slight home dog.

Postgame: Dolphins 21 at Bills 31

Ugly win, but it counts in the standings. Defense wasn’t that good today and they know it. They’ll bounce back. Daboll needs to rethink the pass heavy game plans, considering Allen and the OL struggle vs the blitz. Get the ground game going and run play action off of that. He’s inviting the blitz, but they aren’t hitting blitz beaters for many reasons. A few bad drops today too. The offense is going to dictate how the rest of this season turns out. They need work in many areas. -
Throw out the offensive gameplan. Run and play action for this beat up secondary. Discover pressure on defense. Win the game...

Does anyone call in to Schopp & Bulldog anymore?

It can be great to watch, not so great to talk about. Too many games, and a team can lose five in a row without it affecting their postseason hopes all that much. Just my opinion, but hockey doesn’t come close to the NFL overall. Different strokes... -

Are you aware of Sabres hockey hotline , which airs from 10am to 12 noon every weekday ? Even during the offseason ( ridiculous). Sorry but they talk too much hockey as it is. There’s only so much you can talk about with hockey, it doesn’t lend itself to discussions of strategy , players etc like NFL football does. To me, hockey starts to matter when the NFL season ends, and doesn’t really heat up until the playoffs. -
17 regular season games in new CBA being discussed.

Not clear on your point, but okay. Yes, the league and players changed those rules but the results are clear. Sloppy football for the first few weeks has resulted. Dressing players for games carries risk. The players won’t dress for more games without big changes to compensation plus other rules, so preseason would have to be cut. As I said, the first and last preseason games are a joke fest already and won’t be missed. Of course it is. I don’t think it’s ever been presented as improving the game itself. Extra playoff teams could have the effect of making things interesting for more fans though. Not a bad thing. -
Week 7 expert picks

And the money is pretty close to even, so the line has done its job. Had to get some $$ on Miami, and 17 is huge for an NFL game. Miami ( spread) and the under looks to be a decent bet. -

So 14 games and 6 preseason ? Sounds like the 1970’s. -

100 Greatest Players in NFL History (2 x Bills so far)

I’d imagine the list is based on football, and that being the case Reggie White and Bruce Smith should be separated by a no more than 3 or 4 names either way. Not sure what either of their opinions on homosexuals has to do with it. -

You can from the standpoint that the players are dressed for work that number of games, and therefore exposed to injury. Players definitely get hurt in those games too, even though they don’t count in the standings. Now, 17 games makes no sense but 18 does. It will never happen if the preseason games are kept. -

No it won’t, because that’s already happened. Training camp and practice limitations in the CBA led to that. Many teams are barely participating in the preseason as it is, with more likely to follow. The first and last preseason games are a joke currently and should be eliminated. -

No need for an extra bye week if preseason is shortened. Terrible idea. Expanding the playoffs might be good. -

I hope not. Expand to 18 and nix two preseason games while keeping just a single bye week for each team. Maybe tweak the roster numbers. Otherwise keep it the same. One bye is bad enough. They tried 2 byes one year back in the 90’s and it lasted just that one season. -

Don’t care too much about these lists. They’re always top heavy with players from the last couple stat -inflated decades and the Pats* in particular. -

Perhaps it would, for a week. Then a win over the Eagles would bring it all back. The Bills should win this game, but it’s a week to week league and one win or loss won’t define the season on its own. The Pats* lost at Miami the last two seasons. No reason to lose, but they did. It didn’t matter one bit. -

No need to follow the conversation, you called the stat misleading. It isn’t. It’s exactly what it sounds like it is. My mistake on the 3rd down conversions. The stat the Bills offense ranked highly in was total first downs ( 8th) , not 3rd down conversions. They move the football well. You are massively oversimplifying the analysis to disregard it. The Bills issues are mostly on them, not anything their opponents have done. The sacks and INTs have been largely on Allen rather than exceptional play by the defense. He just needs to make better decisions and live to fight another down. You make it sound like the Bills offense is a hopeless mess, needing improvement in every area when the numbers bear out a different conclusion. They don’t have that far to go to bring that scoring total up. -

Turnovers and sacks are part of the reason for the low point total. 3rd down conversions are pretty good overall relative to the rest of the league, so you can discount that one. Fix the first two, combine it with your already strong red zone TD % and the problem should be fixed. There’s no lol about it. It’s just using stats to show where the problem lies. The Bills offense moves the ball well, but suffers from self inflicted wounds that lower scoring. That’s an easier fix than struggling to convert third downs, poor red zone TD % etc. -
Week 7: Dolphins at Bills (-17)
Boatdrinks replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Again, not misleading. It’s one metric focused on a specific aspect of offense: scoring TDs when in the red zone. Not understanding what the metric is doesn’t make it misleading. Anyone who points to the metric as meaning anything but what it actually indicates would be wrong, but not mislead into doing so. Scoring TDs gets more difficult as the offense gets closer to the goal line as the defense doesn’t have much ground to cover. Hence the reason for the stat. It is what it is and nothing more.
