Daboll to Take Dorsey if Named Giants HC?
Boatdrinks replied to wettlaufer's topic in The Stadium Wall
Sounds like McDermott wants to promote from within if they have staff openings. Said as much at his presser anyway. Doesn’t mean Dorsey stays but they’d probably make a strong offer. -
13 seconds, 94.35% Buffalo win probability
Boatdrinks replied to Nihilarian's topic in The Stadium Wall
It’s far from nonsense . They had a great path set up to reach and win the Super Bowl. The Bills were staring at a home game vs an upstart Bengals team with Mahomes already dispatched. They would have been favored heavily to win. The Super Bowl opponent would not feature a QB named Brady or Rodgers. The Bills offense and Josh Allen were on a serious hot streak scoring 83 points in 2 games. They were healthy. It’s a rare opportunity missed. Bills would have been favored vs either Rams or SF. -
Sullivan: Bills' McDermott choked away Super Bowl-caliber season
Boatdrinks replied to QCity's topic in The Stadium Wall
Spot on. The only way Reid gets such criticism is if the roles were exactly reversed. 13 seconds and all. -
Josh Allen is a future HOFer. There I said it...
Boatdrinks replied to Big Turk's topic in The Stadium Wall
Maybe still a hot take, but the past two seasons and especially the 2021 playoffs make a strong case for the potential. It’s a shame his seemingly inevitable course to a SB win was ripped away from him by this coaching staff. -
Not every situation has a direct parallel. The Bills situation is it’s own. I’d like the Bills to promote from within on the offensive side if Daboll goes. Anything else would be a step back while the team is in a championship window.

Players are sometimes unavailable, even star CBs. That’s why coaching matters.

Sullivan: Bills' McDermott choked away Super Bowl-caliber season
Boatdrinks replied to QCity's topic in The Stadium Wall
I’ll disagree here. That may be true in the teams past history, but the NFL is different now. This loss wasn’t about the home field. While I’d have loved our chances in a home title game, it was more about home vs CIN. Home vs the Chiefs I would be a bit more uncomfortable about the outcome. There isn’t a huge home field advantage in the NFL anymore and the Bills were a botched 13 seconds from winning at Arrowhead twice this season. Without their best CB to boot. -
And a starting CB was out already, right? This game was lost by bad strategy for less than a quarter minute. When you’re competing at championship level, that’s all it takes. Individual players miss games, even in the playoffs. Sure the Chiefs scored more points than they did in the October meeting, and the defensive strategy probably reflected Whites absence. Still it worked because the Bills had the lead with just seconds left. The coaches proceeded to blow it in spectacular fashion.

Exactly. No guarantees at all. What did Rivers make , one AFC title game? May have just watched our best chance ever slip by. This time he’s right. -

Someone has to go. Make a big change on defensive side. You just don’t get opportunities like the Bills had to fall into your lap every season. It’s going to be hard to host an AFC title game much less one without Mahomes in it. May never get as good a look at a Super Bowl, even with Josh. -

Has to be a bigger price paid than criticism. -

Jerry isn’t wrong here. I’ve never been his biggest fan but his take is spot on. You can’t really call it anything else but a choke job. Just total mismanagement in the final seconds of what should have been one of the biggest wins in franchise history. -
The situation was involving the final kick and coverage units, why they chose to kick deep etc. The STs did have a blocked punt and as noted a couple of lost fumbles. Coverage units ranked highly and wouldn’t have been a reason to not kick short. Who said the fumbles were OK? McD made changes to kick return team based on those fumbles so he definitely didn’t think it was ok.

It was all lined up for a SB victory, then poof, gone
Boatdrinks replied to zow2's topic in The Stadium Wall
It was. Rams ( more likely) or 49ers could beat either Chiefs or Bengals though. -

A new offensive system would be a huge setback for a team with SuperBowl aspirations. Bills should make a strong play to keep Dorsey. -
Upon further review...was Bass supposed to pop the kick up?
Boatdrinks replied to Hebert19's topic in The Stadium Wall
He will if he’s told to. With just 13 seconds left half the time could be consumed just getting to the 30. -
Our defense always seems to come up short in the playoffs
Boatdrinks replied to streetkings01's topic in The Stadium Wall
So they’re inconsistent like most NFL teams. The Bills game plan and their own lack of offense in last years playoffs contributed. When they’re on, not many teams ( if any) have a player to cover Hill or Kelce. You need to rally to the ball and make form tackles if you play the style the Bills defense does. They didn’t do that particularly well but you really need to beat the Chiefs with offense. The Bills did that and a better plan would have killed off the 13 seconds. Could the Bills get better on defense ? Sure but make every effort to improve the offense even more. Chances are in the playoffs you are going to get a teams best. That happened last night. Better coaching wins this game. I agree the plan seemed more aggressive in October. I’m guessing Andy Reid would destroy that plan if you did the same things again . Maybe the Bills coaches were less comfortable without White at CB. Kelce seemed to move around a lot more than he did in October. Anyway, Josh Allen was the Bills meal ticket here and he performed. This really came down to a bad plan to manage the final seconds. -
Comparison to 1989 and 2021 Bills
Boatdrinks replied to ManCrushPassRush's topic in The Stadium Wall
There is no comparison. The Bills and the NFL in general were completely different. -

List all the NFL defenses that outclass the team speed of the Chiefs offense. I’ll wait..... -
Beat KC? Beat Hill and Kelce, 41 Catches, 536 YDS, 4 TD's
Boatdrinks replied to Mikie2times's topic in The Stadium Wall
Or just have a better defensive plan to hold them off for 13 seconds. -
Oh it will be tough . The Bills coaches wasted a massive opportunity last night as everything fell perfectly for Buffalo to not only host the AFC title game , but to win the Super Bowl. There was no QB of Allen’s caliber standing in the way after Mahomes. Josh has him beat in his own house and the Defensive staff choked with only 13 seconds to go.

Probably watch the NFC game. No interest in the AFC as I don’t want Burriw to have e. A shot before Josh and despise the Chiefs. Super Bowl I don’t know . Ugh the watch to root against AFC and maybe pull fir Stafford. I like San Fran but probably will skip it. Just too painful this year because I really believed it was ours this time.
