The OP must have been watching a different game. This game was lost up front. We had 5 guys who did not physically hold up. As a unit they did not have the strength to move guys in the run game or keep them off Josh. How may times did guys get pushed straight back the last few weeks. The short term fix is for Daboll to call more really quick passes. The long term fix is for Beane to upgrade the line.

Give Allen some credit for his play today
oldmanfan replied to HappyDays's topic in The Stadium Wall
Josh wasn’t good today. He’d be the first one to say that. But the line play was as bad as I’ve ever seen and I’ve been watching since 1960. -
They are physically too weak. Dawkins has a reason, the others don’t. Guys are getting pushed straight back way too often.
-
I think you have to sit Dawkins. It looks to me that he has not really recovered from his bout with Covid. I would give our other rookie T a shot at RT or Douglas and move Williams back inside once Brown comes back. But they have to shake it up; they can’t accept the level of play seen today.

The three losses and the tough game last week show the main problem: our O line simply isn’t strong. And by that I mean actual physical strength. Has nothing to do with blocking schemes (although how Williams lets that guy walk in unblocked the last series is a mystery), coaching, play calling. It is simply that the guys on our O line do not have the physical strength to move guys in the run game not stand up to guys rushing. How many times have we seen guys just get pushed straight back by a D lineman? I think I saw it every passing play this game, at least one lineman got blown up. If your guys are physically weaker than their guys, there’s no quick fix. It’s not like guys like Morse or Ike are going to suddenly get stronger. At this point all you can do is put guys like Bates or the other rookie T in there and hope they can bear up.

Looks Like the Rest of the NFL Have our Number !!

It is the O line. Saw it in the season opener. Josh can make up for it most of the time but not today. -

They need to get Brown back and put him at LT. Dawkins I think is really not over his Covid issues. Then either put Bates in at RG or C, or move Williams back in at RG and maybe put the Douglas guy they just made active at RT. That whiff on the last pass attempt was as bad a play as I’ve seen in years. -

Teams know how to beat us now. They know their D line can overwhelm ours, know we can’t run, so they just take away longer routes and make us make mistakes. -

We are not going to win the division. Teams know they can just stomp all over our O line now. -

Hate to say it but I think the game’s over. We simply do not have it today. Teams know they can destroy our O line and that forces Josh to take risks. -

Dawkins again. Get him out of there. He clearly is still suffering from covid effects. -

When Brown gets back he needs to start at LT. Dawkins isn’t over his Covid. -

We cannot win a Super Bowl with our O line. They simply do not have the physical strength or ability to win. -

Breaking News: Odell Beckham is set to be released
oldmanfan replied to Protocal69's topic in The Stadium Wall
We don’t need him. He’d take throws away from Diggs and Sanders. -
I am becoming more optimistic that Adams and Granato are going to have the same impact Beane and McD have had. Establish a culture and mindset, then get players who buy in and get rid of guys who don’t. And Eichel was never going to buy in. I like what I’m seeing this year. You’ll have nights like last night, sure, but I think everyone would agree the team has played much better than we thought thus far.

Greg Rousseau named to PFF all rookie midseason team
oldmanfan replied to PrimeTime101's topic in The Stadium Wall
Never read PFF and couldn’t care less about their ratings and such. But it’s nice Groot is getting some recognition. Bills fans know he’s playing well. I do wish Boogie would get on the field more, I think he’d have similar impact. -

In our conference the Patriots and the Raiders. Belichick will do his Belichickian stuff and get them in as a wildcard, and from there who knows. The Raiders are playing solid football and as emotionally invested to support their new HC. Tennessee without Henry is toast. The Chargers have little D. The Steelers and Browns are not going to be there in the end. The Ravens, Jackson will do his Jacksonian fade in the playoffs. If we get by them, then the Bucs and the Rams in the NFC. The Rams have basically thrown all the cards and chips in the middle of the table on this year being their year; the lack of draft picks and cap issues will doom them in upcoming years. And Brady is Brady. I'd rather play the Rams than the Bucs in the Super Bowl as I don't think the Rams have the coaching to get them over the top. The Bills are still the most balanced team in our conference, but when we run into teams that are strong in the middle of the D line we're going to have issues.

Somethings GOT to be done a the interior o line
oldmanfan replied to TheBeaneBandit's topic in The Stadium Wall
Watching the game yesterday confirmed for me our issue in the interior O line: they guy we have laying are not strong enough. Now, any one of them could pick me up and throw me over a building, but they have to compete against guys in the D line that are just as big. And unfortunately stronger. You saw it both in the run game and in pass protection yesterday. Guys in the interior simply could not get a consistent push against Davis (got the name right?) and Wilkins in the run game, and were getting pushed back on pass rushes more than they should. Josh being more mobile helped in the pass game, and they did seem to play somewhat better in the second half. But D lines with strong DT types (like Hayward and the Steelers) are going to be a consistent problem. Not because of scheme or coaching or whatever. Because our guys simply aren't strong enough physically, and I don't know how you address that halfway though the season. -
Beasley a Important Cog in the Bills Wheel to Success !

Helluva game yesterday. They gave us the middle of the field and he took it.
