When a kid dies that doesn’t have to, it affects me because I have a sense of humanity. And a public health crisis affects us all. You are clueless. And while I acknowledge I get worked up about this, folks like you are why. You really would rather see people die as long as it corresponds with your political beliefs.

I agree with that, except that the same ignorance surrounding masks exists for vaccines. I get worked up about this stuff I admit.

I care about kids. You don’t. Simple. If parents make decisions that kill their kids they should be prosecuted in my opinion.

There is no question from an infection control perspective that the best way to attack the virus is to get as many people globally to be vaccinated. I’d rather see resources go to that right now.

And the ones who choose not to, like you, are ignorant. You and them are perfectly OK with putting kid’s in harm’s way. You call me sanctimonious because I care about kids? Go to an ICU and cheer when a kid is being treated. That’s what you want. It is time to quit pussyfooting around with this and call a spade a spade. States rights should not trample human rights. You want people, even kids, to get sick and maybe die. That’s what you want.

Hey Biden’s basement, I know you’re on here because you reacted to my comment. So my question for you. When reference after reference indicates masks have a mitigating effect, when that is what the science says, when every major medical group backs that, who the hell are you to say they’re all wrong? Do you not understand things like science, which is quite possible since this pandemic has shown the shocking level of ignorance in our society? Or are you making the more sickening choice to understand it, but simply to ignore the science? Why do you want people to die? Why do you want kids to be put in harm’s way? What jollies did you get out of this? I can picture you going to funerals of those that have died from Covid and laughing.

The science says masks help mitigate spread. The science says the delta variant is more infectious. Check out Florida’s data on hospitalizations on school aged kids, how many are in ICUs. And I’m sorry but are you now claiming that the only concern parents should have is death? Should parents not care if their kids get sick and perhaps get long term complications? Do me a favor and quit trying to talk about science. You’re clueless. Do this instead: go to your school aged kids or grandkids if you have them, and tell them you’re OK with putting them in harm’s way because of some warped sense of politics. Tell them if they get sick and have to go in the hospital it’s worth it. Go to a funeral of a kid that dies, because some do, and tell the parents it was worth it. People like you that could give a damn about kids make me ill.

No they are not. I did a literature search on Medline yesterday. I put in Covid and masks as search indicators and got over 900 articles in the medical literature. I am still going through them but out of the first 100 there are 12 articles all demonstrating that masks can help limit spread. So you are wrong. Accept it for once. Or let your kids die.

DeSantis claims parents are the best people to make the call about masks and such. They’re not. Because it is clear that some parents are willfully disregarding scientific facts and putting their kids at greater risk of infection. And the governor is egging them in. Why? Because the governor, and some parents, are more interested in making a political statement that the actual welfare of the kids.

Actually when people get vaccinated it will help keep the spread down. Basic virology - you remove more hosts for the virus, you keep the virus from propagating. Vaccinated people may get breakthroughs but they get infected at lower levels than unvaccinated.

Let me respond. I think you make some good points here. But the flag comments are a good example of where I think our country is lost. As you say, the flag stands for our country, and our country stands for freedom. Thus, people are free to protest and one of the ways some have done that is to not stand and honor the flag when the anthem is played. Do I like it? No. But do I like that they have the freedom to do so? Yes. Yes you have the freedom not to get vaccinated. But you should want to in order to help your neighbor, to help the kids who can’t be, because in a public health crisis we are in this together. But you see the data. We are more concerned with me than us, and that tells me we have lost something fundamental to the character of the nation. My frustration is not just at one political side. When I get frustrated with the posts from obscure right wing sites it’s because all they do is slant things in a particular direction to win some kind of battle in their mind. Same for obscure far left posts. No one cares about the country anymore, just playing political games. They will completely change positions if they feel there is some political advantage and that is where the blatant hypocrisy comes in. Politicians and right wing folks did it daily withTrump, now the other side does it for Biden. Nero fiddled while Rome burned. That’s how I feel right now.

You post stuff from obscure right wing sites because it agrees with your views. Some of those are killing our country, as are some from the left wing fringe. I talk to plenty of people and the serious ones care about this country and how it has declined under different administrations from different political factions. Sorry but I won’t do that. I am OK personally but my country is not. I respect your opinions on things greatly, but our country is gone. And that is not something to joke about in my opinion. I’m tired of the jokes and the blatant hypocrisy of so many. I am hoping for the Bills to win it all, so I’ll be spending a lot more time on that side on the board!
