Bi-Partisan Infrastructure Deal!

Debt will destroy this country, and both parties are responsible. -
I have mixed feelings. Most of us older folks who played sports were taught that you have to be there for the team. So from that perspective when I heard the news I thought she was bailing on her teammates, that she owed it to them to suck it up and get out there. Then I got home and watched her vault, and it was clear she was way out of it. I think if she had continued not only would she have done poorly and cost her team a chance on the podium, but she could have hurt her self in a sport where one wrong move can break your neck. So it's hard to compare what she had to deal with vs. what Kerri Strug did; Strug knew it would hurt like hell when she landed, Biles wasn't sure if she'd land on her next event. Couple last points. One, unless you are an elite athlete I don't think any of us can appreciate the pressures such individuals feel. Second, maybe it's time to drop the jingoistic fervor around the Olympics (as was started during the Cold War), and just recognize the Games for what they are, a chance for athletes of different countries to compete.

So he is supposed to be a mind reader? Come on. We all think he could have gotten more with no idea whom he’s been talking to, what the offers were, and so on. It may very well be that many GMs don’t hold Reinhart in as high regard as our fan base. I see parallels between what the Bills did and what the Sabres are trying to do. Get a GM and a HC that are in synch with the type of team they want and type of players that fit. Get rid of guys that don’t buy in and keep or get guys that do. Granted, it will take longer in the NHL since draft picks don’t immediately jump onto the team. But you have two guys in Adams and Granato that have been active in the game forever. Adams was the type player that had to grind it out, and did so with success in the league for years. I’m pretty sure he knows what a team needs to be successful.

And how is Adams supposed to control that? If Florida makes an obscene offer to Sam that he can’t turn down, is that Adams fault.?

It's Time to Mandate Vaccines

You honestly have no clue about science and how viruses propagate and how vaccinations remove the hosts from viruses do they can’t replicate and such. And you don’t want to know, which is the most sickening thing about it. -

The vaccine is to get rid of mitigation. You really have no clue whatsoever. It is amazing how many people do not understand basics about viruses and how they work -
No. He has moments when he has trouble remembering something in the format he was in the other night; that is common in older individuals. I’m 65 and it happens to me more times than I’d like. And you watch other older politicians and you see it as well. But his style and speaking does not seem appreciably different to me than it’s been throughout his career. I don’t see anything in his public persona that makes me think his cognitive skills, his ability to consider data and make decisions, is altered with the caveat that I’m not in the room. My guess is he’ll serve one term unless Trump runs. And I don’t think Trump does.

The Next Pandemic: SARS-CoV-2/COVID-19

Vaccinated people have a much lower possibility of either contracting the virus or infecting others. -

What is his stance on vaccines? If he doesn’t want to lock things down he should be pro-vaccine. -

Don’t get it then. But if and when you get infected, don’t complain. If you get really sick and have to be hospitalized, don’t complain. If you have to be put on a ventilator, don’t then cry to the doctors and nurses that you want the vaccine, because it will be too late. And if you transmit it to your child or grandchild and they get seriously sick from it, start figuring out what you’ll say to the child and the child’s parents. And how you’ll live with yourself if God forbid the worst happens. Your statement that you don’t think you need it crystallizes in a few words the entire problem we’ve had since the pandemic started. Selfishness. You only think of you. We are still in a national crisis with this pandemic, and historically when this country has faced such challenges we’ve come together to overcome. The Vietnam war might be the only exception. But what we have right now are people cloaking themselves in fake claims of freedom and rights, people deliberately spreading lies about the science of the vaccines, and so in. All of it just is a cover for selfishness. We used to have a country where the people would rise above partisanship in a time of need. Not anymore. So don’t get it. The anti-Vaccine folks? Don’t get it. People will die needlessly. Younger folks including children will needlessly die and/or have lifelong illnesses. But you do you. -
New NFL-NFLPA Covid protocols
oldmanfan replied to Hapless Bills Fan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
The science shows that vaccinated people are much less likely to contract or spread the virus, and are at virtually zero risk of dying or contracting severe illness. The topic is simple: the NFL has a product they want to protect. They also have a vested interest in their players not dying or getting severely ill due to Covid, although we all know the NFL’s main thing is $$$$$$. The medical people for the NFL know the science and have I’m sure advised the league as such. The one thing I would advise the league is to not do testing of vaccinated individuals. Again because they are much less likely to contract and/or spread. The league is a microcosm of society right now. The CDC says vaccinated people can live their lives. The NFL apparently agrees. The league is favoring vaccinated over unvaccinated players. So is society. -

The NFL is essentially telling its employees they need to get vaccinated, which is entirely within their right to do. The employee can either get with the program or leave the employ of the NFL. It is no different than my health care network mandating that we all have to be vaccinated. All the science supports the value of vaccination. The NFL understands that. Focus on science and not politics and this is a non-issue. -

The Next Pandemic: SARS-CoV-2/COVID-19
oldmanfan replied to Hedge's topic in Politics, Polls, and Pundits
The delta variant is hitting the younger population more and is more infectious. The vaccines are incredibly effective and the risks of potential complications, myocarditis with the mRNA vaccines and blood clots with J&J, are extremely rare with around 5 cases per million, with the vast majority of these being non-fatal. And the idea that there are long term risks to the vaccines is not supported by the history of vaccines that shows any side effects are found within weeks of widespread application. The nonsense about things like microchips and the vaccines being gene therapy are just that- nonsense. And all the data show that vaccinated people are at much less risk of contracting Covid and if they do, that their risk of death or significant illness is minuscule. These are the actual facts. Yet you have states like Tennessee actively trying to keep kids from getting not only the Covid vaccines, but any vaccines. You have idiots like Carlson spewing nonsense. There is only one logical conclusion: they want people to die. They would prefer people die so they can promote political nonsense. -
