He's good but he's not on the level of a Zach Martin A guard like Martin is great in a power scheme or zone... Can Handle finesse or power rushers Mason is more of a power run blocker, not as good in a zone scheme... And not elite when asked to just pass block 40 times a game

It's like being a tight end which is extremely hard to learn at the NFL level... You need to be able to block like a tackle... Outrun linebackers.. out muscle defensive backs... And Catch like a wide receiver It's a very tough skill set to develop at the NFL level Likewise this hybrid wide receiver, running back, returner role is tough to develop in the NFL... You need to be able to catch the ball consistently when called upon, have a bigger route tree than a running back.. run with vision and speed, have ball security, and be a capable blocker ... And your asked to perform while usually not playing every down in the flow of the game It is a specialized role that requires specialized development I like McKenzie he has developed into a good football player.. notice I said football player not wide receiver , or returner etc

Yes there's usually at least five football players every draft with the skill set to develop into that role... A hybrid wide receiver ,returner, running back Some are smaller guys like Isaiah.. some are bigger guys like cordarrelle Patterson... And the majority of them don't pan out to that level But seeing Isaiah was cut from his first team and didn't pan out there .. it shows like I've always said.. players develop The knock on these type of college guys are that they're usually not good enough pure receivers to play full-time wide out... Or big enough to play full-time running back

You have to remember... The draft used to be 10 plus rounds The talent didn't just disappear... There's a bigger pool of good undrafted football players.. 1990 draft was like 350 draftees

I think you're taking what I'm saying out of context I never said we should draft a rookie to replace Mckenzie or that a rookie could come in and duplicate it I said his worth on the open market is overestimated because the talent in that gadget player pool is pretty deep actually Everybody else seems to understand what I was trying to say

You are going based purely off of how we know NFL players turn out... We know there's a pretty good rate of non success It doesn't stop you from drafting said players And I never said in the first round... Overall there's about 40 to 45 draft eligible wide receivers per year now... Now a good amount of them will not have NFL success based on a lot of factors But out of those 45 prospects there are 5-10 yearly who have the speed , acceleration, agility, and catching ability to be a gadget type player... Whether they become successful or not isn't the question... But the talent to develop is there Also because of how many wide receivers have draft eligible grades now ... A few every year with draftable grades go undrafted because how deep the league is Around 30% of the league is UDFA ... It's shows the depth of talent

Not every single team utilizes a player with that type of role... A lot of these players are the 5th 6th guy on rosters or practice squads.. Mckenzie got cut Go through the draft right now there's absolutely 5-10 guys who have the skill set to be developed into a McKenzie roll .. possibly more But Not every team in the NFL utilizes that role , and most never reach even McKenzie's level

Solid move... A lot of people overestimate his worth on the market There are a lot of players like him in the league across 32 teams... And five to seven guys every draft come out with his attributes he's a good athlete and worked himself into a good football player.. a good package.. but 5 to 10 guys a year come out with his skill set.. it's not a thin skill set in the NFL
