Good Night / Bad Night - Pre-season Game 2
Ridgewaycynic2013 replied to GunnerBill's topic in The Stadium Wall
Listen, pal, everyone eventually needs insurance. And like a good neighbour, Jake Fromm is there. ๐คจ (Offer not available in certain areas of Florida and California.) Remember, it's not a final decree until Schefter chimes in. ๐ค๐คจ -

Only a 'FOO' would do so. -
With two large bingo halls in town, service clubs that sponsored each session were able to greatly fund club activities. Youth sports fees in town were much cheaper, thanks to the underwriting the bingo games funded. The prize values offered were much higher than could be paid in NYS, and there was a faithful contingent of bingo bunnies taking in two or three sessions. When the last "BINGO" of a session was called, there was a mad rush out the door as the players headed off to the next hall.

Hell, yes! Well into the late 90s, and possibly even early 2000s I was paying 25 cents for those in the vending machine at Tops Grant Street. The weekly run when gas and milk was cheaper in the States, and a pocket full of quarters. If I got a 'dud' team, there were plenty of NFL fans at work to toss them to. Chester was a real Green Bay fan, and when I gave him a Packer helmet he was stoked. ๐ * Wacka's posting about the Liberty Hotel and grove in Cheektowaga in the preschool thread got me thinking about the tradition of the company picnic in WNY. For eight years I worked at CPM in Alden, and for at least two or three years there was a company picnic at Weimer's Grove in Lancaster, at Broadway and Bowen Rd. Before the end of the 80s, that land was sold, and developed into housing. As a kid, I think my parents schlepped me to just about every volunteer fire company picnic in WNY.

Can anyone remember anything from their pre school?

I had a suspicion it might be a grove sort of gathering place. Many a WNY business held company picnics at such venues. Steve Cichon profiled Liberty Park in 2018. https://blog.buffalostories.com/torn-down-tuesday-cheektowagas-liberty-park/ -

Where was that? WNY? -
Someone might need to educate him on regional salad dressing protocols. Blue cheese = good. Ranch = meh.

Wut? * Watching the earlier clip of St. Brown reminded me of the line from 'The Other Guys'.

Sounds like a made up name from Seinfeld. Like 'Joe Mayo'. ๐ค๐คจ

Preseason Week 2 - Post Updates Here

I have absolutely no reason to doubt your reasoning. I was just reflecting on how many times the forum was scratching its collective head over Elam's continued sitting on game days, until the team finally decided to part ways with him. -

Closest I had to preschool was the half day kindergarten in the Buffalo Public Schools. At least with the afternoon session, I could watch the morning reruns of the CBS comedies, then hide between the sofa back and wall in an attempt to miss school. Never worked. ๐ I recall the teacher for kindergarten who started the year went off early on some sort of medical leave. We had a constant churn of various teachers, some were rigid taskmasters, some handed us crayons and paper and left it at that. First grade straightened out the situation, and I still recall 60 years later the homeroom teachers, and once we hit 6th grade, the various teachers for the core subjects. -

Tremaine Edmunds was proofed for age when buying a beer at a Lake Forest, Illinois 7-11. A second photo ID was required. ๐ -
When Bride the Second was looking to replace her Toy Yoda Echo, we narrowed it down to either a used Mazda 3, or a used Honda Fit, both off dealership lots. Looked at the Mazda first, and told the salesperson that we still were going to look at the Honda. That salesperson and the used car manager kept calling and emailing long after we had bought the Fit. I wonder if they thought we were lying about having purchased the Fit? ๐ค

Each? ๐คจ * GMs and HCs are hard to come by. Practice squad guys are a dime a dozen. One goes down, it's just "next man up!" Your idea is better. Ralph might have been cheap, but he was no dummy when it came to shekels.

I can picture the conversation regarding statue relocation if Ralph was still alive. >>> "We've contacted Higgins Erectors and Haulers to move your statue, Mr. Wilson. They were the low bid." <<< "Nonsense. Tell Brandon and Sean not to make any plans for Sundays in March. They can rent a pickup truck and appliance dolly from Home Depot."

Has it been established if the Damar of today is the 'original' Damar, or the 'replacement' Damar, who was substituted after the demise of the original? I'll hang up, put my tinfoil hat on, and listen on the radio for the answer. ๐

Garo Yepremian tried K, QB, and DB all in one play in Super Bowl VII. ๐ค "The field goal attempt was blocked by Bill Brundige, and Yepremian managed to get to the ball before any other player did. Instead of falling on the ball to preserve the Dolphins' 14โ0 lead, he picked it up and frantically attempted to throw a pass. As a result, the ball slipped from Yepremian's hands and went straight up in the air. Yepremian then attempted to bat the ball out of bounds but instead batted it back up in the air, and it went right into the arms of his former Lions teammate, Redskins cornerback Mike Bass, who returned it for a touchdown." Preseason Week 1 Giants at Bills - Game thread

I wasn't so much interested in that perceived McD snub from last year. I was more interested in if Daboll had any occasion to rant, rave, and rail at his players, coaches, or game officials. There were quite a few of us here who were members of the 'DABOLL IN THE BOOTH!' fan club when he was Bills OC. -
