  1. Every time John Elway’s name comes up, I think of how he passed on drafting Josh Allen, and took Bradley Chubb instead. Not a great GM.
  2. If that is not allowed, maybe they could display the clip with no sound, but have the home crowd trained to all yell “Hey!!!”
  3. I used to work on an Army base, which requires full safety gear for motorcycle riders. Some riders would stop outside the gate and remove their helmets and carry on. Alex Collins was involved with Irish step dancing as a hobby IIRC. I enjoyed watching his hard running style, most recently in the USFL. May he Rest In Peace.
  4. This is a great article. A bit of a long read, but a nice insight into what makes Trent Sherfield tick.
  5. No, they just had their “bell rung” on occasion.
  6. @Draconator, did you know that Geddy’s real name is Gary? His mother had a thick Eastern European accent, so it came out as “Ged-dy! Ged-dy!” When she called him for dinner. So his friends started calling him Geddy, and the name stuck. I saw that in an interview he did, and thought it was hilarious.
  7. I enjoyed watching both the XFL and USFL seasons, but the XFL was more fun to watch.
  8. CFL season is underway. Jim Kelly was in the stands for the Toronto game, rooting on his nephew Chad.
  9. That was Daryl Johnston coaching Holtz on lifting the trophy. Pretty funny moment. Hey, Holtz lifted it last year. I think he can handle it. it looked like of Miller beer they were celebrating with, but not sure. it was a fun season.
  10. These days, you can “identify” as whatever you want. Raising such a banner at the new stadium would make the Bills a laughingstock for a VERY long time. No way to overcome a gaffe like that.
  11. Marv Levy’s coaching style pissed me off. “Treat these men like men” does not work when these men behave like frat boys. Certain party boy players were rumored to have been out very late the night before the big game. Coaching is people management and it was not handled very well. Meanwhile, on the field, their inability to stop the run made winning nearly impossible.
  12. Rest In Peace, Ryan. That’s very sad to lose someone so young. I have always found the oceans, including the Gulf of Mexico, to be a frightening environment. I remember walking out in the water, barely up to my knees, and feeling the currents pulling me out further. It was strong enough to knock down an able adult. Scary.
  13. With Buffalo at #2 in slide rule sales, I thought maybe some university programs required them. Perhaps as one of those soft skills you might need someday. I still have one kicking around - with the handy holster you wear on your belt.
  14. Does anyone know if Engineering students still use slide rules?
  15. Back in the 60s, my brother and I listened to AM radio, picked up stations far away. We wrote down 10-15 minutes of their content and mailed it to them. the station would send us back a QSL card, a postcard with their logo. From our AM table radio in Kenmore, we picked up stations from New Orleans, Chicago, Boston, etc. We even got one from Bonaire, off the coast of Venezuela. They were probably pumping 100,000 watts. US stations were limited to 50K. We collected about 40 cards from all over the US, east of the Mississippi mostly. It was a fun hobby. Of course, stations were staffed with human beings back then.
  16. It is also the birthday of the US Army. So Happy Birthday to all of our Army folks out there.
  17. I wish I knew the timing of the big change.
  18. Somewhere in all the Christian Wade analysis way back when, it was revealed that he needed to have all of his blockers behind him. They could not be in front of him, according to rugby rules. That makes for a very difficult transition from rugby to football, at least for an offense player.
  19. Not many 3 pointers were attempted. One attempt ended in an INT, but couldn’t run it back all the way. I don’t know if the defense would have earned 3 points for a “pick 3”
  20. I didn’t mean “snob” in a bad way, just to differentiate the levels of football. I have a shortage of free time, too, and often don’t watch the games until Tuesday or Wednesday.
  21. Some folks are snobs about football. No offense intended, but once they see the best, they don’t enjoy the lower tiers. I enjoy the CFL, XFL, USFL, college ball, whatever. I even watch some televised high school ball. Different strokes for different folks.
  22. This should be one sided contest, unfortunately. DC is very good with a 9-1 regular season record. Arlington is 4-6 from the weak South division. It was a fun season in any case. I enjoyed it.
  23. “A Mammoth House of Cards”: Can We Trust Tether? Just some food for thought if Tether is your crypto of choice.
  24. I was really impressed with his play in the Dolphins game last year. I hope the Bills give him opportunities on offense.
  25. This is a great insightful article. I hope the HC and front office people read it. Thank you for posting it.
