This college football prospect has a very unusual last name
Poleshifter replied to Einstein's topic in College Football
Ouch. He has legit cause to legally get it changed. -
Does it literally cost big money to pick a bunch of players from the portal? Didn't Sanders bring in 86 new players when he took over at Colorado?

Stellar XLM: Your Roadmap to Financial Inclusion In conclusion, Stellar XLM is emerging as a powerful tool in the pursuit of financial inclusion. Its unique features, strategic partnerships, and commitment to addressing the challenges faced by the unbanked make it a promising platform for creating a more equitable financial system. As Stellar continues to develop and innovate, its impact on global financial inclusion is expected to grow, providing a roadmap to a more inclusive and prosperous future for all. ---- On a related note, XRP is not the "golden child" it was once expected to be. There is not going to be a high-priced buyback like many XRP hodlers had hoped for. XLM is the better option.

Condolences for your loss. It is difficult to lose a loyal family member.

Light of Christmas in the Darkness of War 1944
Poleshifter replied to NoHuddleKelly12's topic in Off the Wall
This is a great story. Thanks for posting it. I spent one Christmas away from home when I was in the Army. I was in Germany during the Cold War, so I was never in any danger. Christmas greetings to all of our combat veterans on the board. Thanks to all of you.- 1 reply

What are some of your favorite Christmas songs??

It's the only beatnik Christmas song that I know of. Do you remember Edd "Kookie" Byrnes from the TV show 77 Sunset Strip? Like Yulesville, Daddy-O! -

Are you or anyone in your family big gift givers for Christmas?
Poleshifter replied to Another Fan's topic in Off the Wall
Our family had 5 kids, and 1 income from my dad. So there were a few gifts for each child, one major item and some smaller gifts. Our friend Richard, an only child, stops by and asks “Where’s your big stuff?” Sixty years later, that expression still pops up once in a while. -
Same to you, Bad Things! And a Happy New Year!

It surprises me that people have such an issue with wearing seat belts. Maybe they never saw the momentum demonstration with the egg strapped down vs not strapped down. I can understand teenage boys not wanting to seem unmanly, but adults driving without seat belts makes no sense. I have an adult step daughter who doesn’t wear them, and doesn’t make her kids wear them. It’s just a foolish choice to make.

I visited Hungary many years ago. Lovely place, but the language barrier was tough. I know some German, Spanish and French, but none it helped at all. In most tourist places, English will serve you pretty well.

The upcoming postseason? Golf in January probably.

On Veterans Day - appreciating our own and all others
Poleshifter replied to Fan in Chicago's topic in The Stadium Wall
This is how feel as well. I was drafted during the Vietnam war, but they sent me to Germany. The guys who saw combat are definitely on a different level. That experience can change your life dramatically. I give thanks for those guys. -
Did you have to learn some new words like “splendiferous” and “amazicating”?

I think they are still fatigued from that stinking trip to Europe. Josh’s last words to the interview lady “Let’s go home”

My dad served in the Navy as a sheet metal repairman in Norfolk, Virginia. He was stationed in the states because his brother had been killed in action in the Navy. I was drafted into the Army in the Vietnam era. By the grace of God, they sent me to Germany. Happy Navy Birthday!

Start working on a mock draft -
I don't know if anyone has addressed this issue, because I have not read every thread. I place the blame for the horrible London performance on the decision makers who decided to treat this game like any other Sunday road game. They seemed to give zero consideration to the jet lag factor. It's a 3500-mile trip, some 1100 miles more than a West Coast game. Sitting on a plane for 7-8 hours (?) is not good for athletes who would normally do things to stay limber. I think this was a factor in some of the injuries, as well as the sluggish offensive performance. I'm not a doctor of fitness expert, but this is my opinion on their travel logistics. IMO they should have treated it like a Thursday night game, travelled a day or two sooner, and been more physically ready when game time arrived. I don't know if McDermott or Beane was responsible for the travel timing, but I feel that they royally screwed it up. They really pi--ed me off by the way they arranged this overseas trip.

I got otitis (swimmer’s ear) a few years ago, and had a tube put in one ear. My ENT told me to keep that ear dry. I got earplugs to keep it dry in the shower, etc. Did your ENT never mention keeping your ears dry because of the tubes? Maybe something is different for my case, but you might ask your doctor about it.

A Few Thoughts about the Raiders Game, in no particular order
Poleshifter replied to Virgil's topic in The Stadium Wall
One nice surprise for me was the Damien Harris kickoff return. I didn’t know he was in the mix for that. Thanks, Virgil, for the write up.
