I'd love for the Chiefs to take a few steps back. May actually be a top 15 pick. I'd love for that to happen regardless of our QB situation, but just imagine if TT can flourish in this system. Those two picks can be used for two top notch talents.

McGinn's draft was godly in my opinion.

Jim Brown for sure Earl Campbell would have had the same amount of success Thurman Thomas with his double threat capabilities

What's Your Definition of a Successful 2017 Bills Season

I can't see it being a successful season until we win the division. -

Yup! That's what I see as well. The Bengals have a lot of great pieces, but I think he hast lost part of, if not, all of the rosters trust over the last two seasons. The Ravens on the other hand are still trying to patch up their Super Bowl winning roster from a few years ago. Bad draft picks and bad FA pickups will continue to doom the Ravens. -

My gosh, me too! Lol I just see the Pats running into some growing pains with all of their new additions. There's a strong possibility they only win 3 games out of the first 8 of the season. With 5 divisional games in the second half of the season, I see at least the Bills or Dolphins taking at least one of them. The other three are against the Raiders, Steelers, and Broncos. Each one of those could be a toss up in either direction. The end result will hopefully be a bust for the defending champs -
Bills will run an Outside Zone blocking scheme (video)

With the added play action passes, our running game will only get stronger. Injuries aside, we should be more dominant in both categories. That doesn't mean more rushing yardage either, just more efficient running plays. Exactly! Lynn was genius for doing this, but he was also a physical N/S runner back in the day so it only made sense for him to implement that. Dennison said that he would keep a lot of the good plays/concepts from last season, so we'll see how it pans out. -

I've got two of each... League: Patriots finish at 9-7 but are 5-1 in the division. They will miss the playoffs for the first time in over a decade. Browns win 7 games this year with ONLY 1 QB winning them all. Bills: Tyrod Taylor makes the Pro Bowl as an initial selection, not an alternate. Both Zay Jones and Sammy Watkins finish the season with 60+ catches each, and more than 800 yards receiving. -

Great post! Our rushing attack may get better because of this. Especially our play action! A naked bootleg with TT's speed and Watkins or Zay's speed has big plays written all over it. Should be fun to watch. With injuries aside, I think he failed to see any cutback lanes based on the unsettled right side along with the mentality to continue to stretch until something opens up. I feel like he stretched way too many runs to the sideline on the right side in 2015. Last year, I think Lynn asked him to trust the line and cut up regardless of how small the hole was. Hopefully he can carry that with him and use that knowledge with the Dennison scheme. -
Based on depth of the roster at each position, I'd have to go with the following: Jerry Hughes - McDermott's defense has the majority of success while rushing the passer, and Hughes is the only pure pass rusher on the roster. If he goes down then we only have Shaq Lawson and Lorenzo Alexander rushing on passing downs. The lack of depth here really scares me. Ronald Darby - We saw what happened to McDermott's defense once Norman left for Washington, and I don't have complete trust in the rookie White, or second year guy Seymour. If Darby goes down, then we have to turn to two unproven players at the second most critical position on the roster. LeSean McCoy - Fortunately Mikey G' helped fill the void in the past, but if Shady goes down this year we will only have one proven running back on the roster, and he is way overweight and several years passed his prime. Jonathan Williams has a lot of promise and luck, but I don't see him providing our running game with the production needed for constant success. I don't see a need to list QB, S, or WR for the following reasons: We have great depth at QB with two young bucks and a proven backup that can lead a team. I'm not saying either is better than Taylor, but in a run first offense, I believe these guys can step in and continue success at a moderate to successful level. We don't have the most depth here, but McDermott has a knack for developing safeties, and getting the most out of their production. If either starter went down I don't think we would see that large of a negative impact. Again, in a run first offense and watching Sammy miss several games over the past few seasons, I don't think we will see a large drop off in production. Obviously the ball would be spread around more often, and a few more running plays will be added, but I don't believe it would be as detrimental as losing one of the key positions listed above.

the Ultimate season long playoff predictor is back!

I have us finishing 10-6 (Division: 5-1) and the Pats finishing 9-7 (5-1). Dolphins got off to a hot start but finished 6-10 (2-4) and the Jets finish 4-12 (0-6). Bills make the playoffs while the pats miss out. Bills beat Tennessee in the first round, and beat the Texans in the second round. We make It to the AFC title and lose to Oakland. Oakland plays the Seahawks in the Super Bowl and loses. -
I'm anxious to see this d-line get going.
ROONDOGG55 replied to Cherrybone's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
That is my number one concern as well. We have plenty DT depth, and I can see A. Washington kicking out to DE on running downs to set the edge. The real question is, who backs up Hughes or Shaq in case of injury or fatigue? Maybe Lorax drops down, or they switch to a 3 DT / 1 DE scheme. IDK, but I would like to see us pick up a situational (proven / vet) passrusher. Maybe Trent Cole or Paul Kruger if they're still available. -
Report: 24 yr old LB Zach Orr to come out of retirement

Yeah, you are most certainly right when it comes to cap space and willingness to overpay. Will he sign with them? I don't think so, but I could be wrong. -

Like I said, could go both ways. He is definitely not going to sign with the Browns, Rams, or Chargers. He has the opportunity to cash in and play for a contender. More money will definitely be the deciding factor though. -

Very true! I guess it could go both ways, but money does trump out almost everything for these guys. Just thought in his case, with the medical issue, that he would go for a contender like a 10 year vet would. -

The Bills would be wise to make an offer, but I see him signing with the Giants, or the Raiders. Maybe the Saints or Colts, but they would be in the same boat as the Bills. A young guy like this would most likely jump on a contending squad. -
I like him too, and feel that he has the desired traits for a long term coach, but we will see how he reacts under extreme pressure. He seemed a little irritated when reporters asked him about the Whaley situation, so we'll see how he does when reporters drill him about QB controversy, bad calls, and so on.
-
Yup! I think he is way too expensive for only 8 games a year.
-
He was the first of many. Seems that Smith gave BB a taste for what Bills players could potentially be. Here's the list of Bills cast-offs that became Patriots a year or two after leaving the Bills (Excluding Doug Flutie, and Brandon Spikes): Antoine Smith Sammy Morris Larry Centers Ted Washington Sam Aiken Donald Jones Scott Chandler Alan Branch Chris Hogan Stephon Gilmore Mike Gillislee

In most cases this is true, and ours may follow suit. I do, however, believe we can overcome these weaknesses with great line-play on both sides of the ball. If we can continue the ground games success, and recreate the pass rushing havoc from a few years ago, I believe that our rookies / 1st year starters could come along nicely.
