  1. I wouldn't mind going after those guys, but aren't they primarily man-man guys? That may be why we haven't looked in their direction. Do you know of any zone type DBs out there in the FA pool?
  2. Hope we can find some decent CB talent. This is a few games in a row where we've had depth issues. Thought they would address it over the break, but low key PS moves aren't gonna cut it. We need a guy that can be activated on a weekly basis. Any trade candidates out there that anyone knows of?
  3. I think they would have gone another route if they saw this coming. Just curious, but I see a lot of comments on how Dennison wasn't McDermott's first choice. I wonder who the first choice was, and why they went in a separate direction?
  4. I think their vision has to do with placing vets with a "winning / professional" mentality in place to groom the new cast of young players they bring in. Obviously, we "as fans" look at youth and talent over actually being a healthy asset in the locker room. These guys want to build a lunch pale / blue collar team that comes in to work. Not guys that miss meetings, show up late, have a me first mentality, and so on. From a distant standpoint, I agree with that, but we will see how this philosophy does in the long run. Hopefully for the best, but only time will tell. This first season won't show us much other than the fact that they are willing to move on with anyone that doesn't agree or "jump on board". Idk about that. McDermott took over as DC with Philly and failed before having tremendous success with the Panthers. Beane jumped around between personnel and financial positions with the Panthers and also had tremendous success. You can argue that their success is directly attributed to their leadership, but McD called the defensive plays, while Dennison never did. Beane took over as interim GM and performed admirably until the permanent GM was chosen who decided to keep Beane on board because of his well rounded knowledge. From what I see, Dennison has always played second fiddle to Kubiak as an OC.
  5. TT is a mobile QB that can make throws from the pocket, but cannot be relied on to make those throws on a consistent basis. Dude you are looking way into the short and long term shenanigans. Adjusting the game plan now has nothing to do with their scheme and personnel next season, or any season after that. I'm not sure you understand their concept at all.
  6. Your philosophy will not work in this league either. If we want success in this league they will have to adapt to their players strengths whether its short or long term. All of your great coaches cater to their players strengths. What if we asked Peyton Manning to run more and throw less? or, Jerome Bettis to split out wide and run deep? It doesn't make sense to ask a guy to do what he is not comfortable doing. If the Bills want short term success, then Dennison needs to get a little more creative this season. He has nothing to do with personnel decisions, so do what you can with what you got to the best of their abilities.
  7. John Miller and Tyrod Taylor. Miller came on strong last season with their techniques and blocking schemes, but this year he has regressed tremendously as well as the other lineman regressing in some sorts. Our offensive line was our strongpoint last season. Why would you take a risk messing that up? TT is not a strong passer from the pocket and never will be. A few passes from the pocket peppered into the scheme is ok, but relying on him to do that the majority of the game doesn't always work. Our offense as a whole operates better with him moving the pocket and limiting the pass rush. Doing so would prevent the relentless passrush, alleviate some pressure on our tackles, and keep their LBs honest instead of shooting the gap. Yet again, square pegs in a round hole. We saw this with Rex and the defense. We all saw how that worked out in the end. This was preached by McDermott as well as Dennison. I'm finding it difficult to see it on the field. Let the guy ball out and create some plays. Throw in an occasional option run, more motion, more audibles at the line. This offense needs diversion more than anything with the lack of playmakers. Which is why we need a lot more creativity from our coordinator.
  8. I think we would do more damage if we replace him. McDermott just needs to get a little more involved and tell his coaches to adjust the offense to their players strengths. I'm just tired of seeing our coaches trying to fit square pegs into a round hole. It never works, but we see our coaches do it year after year.
  9. Yeah, maybe I am being a little over the top with that. He most certainly can have success, but I don't see enough creativity to produce any. I mean we can capitalize on a few plays, but it seems like they leave a lot on the field on almost every drive. Would like to see a few more less than predictable plays being called. You have to do whatever possible to keep the opposing defense guessing at all times.
  10. It just doesn't seem like he has a lot to say about it. Seeing Vlad jump in and start along with the generic/predictable play calling, I just don't see it. McD should at least tell him what he hates to see as a defensive guy. It just seems like the opposing defenses know exactly what we are doing before the ball is snapped.
  11. Obviously it works for some people, but he also had great individual success before he became a head coach. This dude Dennison is a complete dud.
  12. So, tell me what HE has actually accomplished. Not Kubiak or Shanahan, but him. He has always played second fiddle to other offensive minded coaches. Was it concerning for you that after a quarter century this was his first year calling plays? It sure was for me, but again, let me reiterate that I hope they have an epiphany during the bye week.
  13. I was under the impression that he was involved in the offensive game plan. Early in training camp, I believe, he pointed out that he would be paying close attention to the offense. Did it stop there? From the first preseason game to now it seems Dennison and Castillo have complete control. Obviously the final decision comes from McDermott's mouth, but does he trust the opinions of his coordinators and position coaches a little too much? Now, with success comes a longer leash. After the first several games Dennison should have the shortest leash. McDermott should be in that room at all times pointing out the obvious. Use TT's athletic ability more, TT why did you not scramble here, TT look to the left, he is wide open, TT anticipate the route and throw on time, TT throw him the ball and not point to him, implement some blocking scheme's that cater to our guys strengths, call unpredictable plays (play action or quick passes on 1st play of a drive / not a run), and so on. It's clear to me that he has little insight about what goes on with this offense. One of the downfalls of hiring a defensive minded coach who has absolutely no offensive experience. Additionally, our offensive coordinator is a former NFL linebacker, and our offensive line coach has a history of underperforming lineman. I was really hoping he would take a chance on a guy with a vision on offense. Someone who could relate to a QB and help mold his game. I understand there was slim pickings for an offensive coordinator with experience, but damn dude. The lack of creativity on offense is going to be the one factor that McDermott will have to overcome. If he does not get it right, then the Bills will not sustain consistent success like what he and Beane envision. Hopefully this bye week will give Dennison and company an epiphany because they surly do need it. Disclaimer: I am no expert, I did not use statistical data to come up with any of my assumptions, and I don't care. Lol. These are my observations.
  14. It would definitely help. But, if we manage to pull off a trade for both Williams and Nelson for two guys that have barely seen the field. I'd be fully on board with that. Again, doubt that would be the case (Financially burdening for both teams), but would improve our team drastically while we go into a bye week. That week would also allow us to really get them up to speed as well.
  15. At 3-2 going in to the bye week I doubt we make any drastic changes to the roster other than signing guys to fill voids left by injury. In my eyes, I see us making a minor trade to accommodate the TE position unless we can get Barnadge to sign. I mean, we have lost two games by less than a TD, so we can argue that some minor adjustments could be made to gain more production. If we were in a different boat with a losing record, than yes I could see us making some drastic changes like what most are predicting.
  16. Soooo...you do get how I am referencing that we are teased with moderate success early on almost every year (hence the flashlight) and jump on it only to get disappointed? This season may not be all that different is all I'm saying. That is why people are skeptical about jumping on board. Nothing is wrong with doing it, just explaining why people are hesitant. That is all. I am all on board though, so go Bills all day every day!!!
  17. Just imagine being stuck in a cave for 17 years with no natural light, except for some a-hole shinning a flashlight on you every year. People aren't sure if this is just another flashlight show, or the football gods finally blessing Bills fans with the golden light we strive for year after year.
  18. Bad route. He flattened out the corner route which slightly put him out of position. he did make an excellent adjustment to the ball, but unfortunately could not hang on.
  19. Must be a hang time thing. Schmidt gave up 8 returns on 12 punts, which leads the league.
  20. LMFAO! I had the same reaction during the gamer as well. It's like he alligator arm claps or something like that. Holds his arms as close to his chest as possible before beating his hands together after every single play.
  21. I really like these two guys as well, and believe they will be effective into their 30's. However, injuries do happen in this league, and we are stuck with mediocre talent behind them. We will be up s**** creak if either goes down with a significant injury. The lack of depth and quality behind them scares the hell out of me. Hopefully Beane does a great job of brining in young talent in the later rounds to develop behind these guys so we have some options in the future in case they do go down.
  22. Yeah, I'm not sure what that guy was smoking when he said that. Hopefully he eats his words in a few days. Go Bills!
  23. No problem, thank you for your service as well! I wish that I did 20+ years, but life had a different path for me. Dareus will have his moments to shine this season, but last game he was asked to be a wall rather than a rusher. More like a decoy on the front to allow Kyle and others to make plays. I'm sure he will have a similar role next week as well.
  24. Wasn't planning on joining the argument, just pointing out random percentages. There are actually a lot of football minds that have never played the sport, but have a lot of insight. My playing days ended after high school, but while I played I never looked into the analytics side of it. I found interest in the analytics side of it while playing fantasy football. I think the same can go for the most of us here. Before the individual breakdown of fantasy players I didn't know what YAC, or QBR was. When I played all I cared about was hitting the other guy in front of me, and understanding the playbook. My ability to read an offense was based on instincts, and had nothing to do with analytics. That was the coaches job. We just did what we were told and communicated with each other on the field if we saw a guard leaning to his left, or a RB staring down his "potential" running lane. And, as for the war thing, it actually has a lot to do with working as a team. I can't clear a building by myself, I need a few more guys to do that. We can break the "mount team" down further and compare it to individual positions, but you can Google that. The principle of war has nothing to do with football, but military doctrine and football have a lot in common. Now, this is all my perspective on it and could differ from a lot of Vets, but a simple observation from my part while serving.
