  1. The Pats did the same thing with Matt Cassel. Foles isn't likely to raise a stink over it.
  2. I'd rather sign Ja'Wuan James, already knowing that he can play RT in the NFL.
  3. I say sign Maxx Williams & draft a TE in the middle rounds.
  4. I heard Crossman had other offers, but he fell in love with Miami's nightlife and weather.
  5. This seems almost relevant: Drafting a wide receiver in the first two days of the 2017 NFL draft makes plenty of sense for the Buffalo Bills. Buffalo could use a complement to Sammy Watkins after losing Robert Woods in free agency and the team's current No. 2 receiver, Andre Holmes, is coming off of a 14 catch season. Luckily for the Bills, there should be plenty of options for the team in the first three rounds of the draft. One receiver that could replace Woods is USC receiver JuJu Smith-Schuster. Smith-Schuster is projected to be selected on day two of the draft. He's known for his strong hands, ball tracking skills and is considered a good blocker. On paper, Smith-Schuster makes sense for Buffalo. As it turns out, Smith-Schuster has thought about playing for the Bills. The receiver started a Madden franchise and went to Buffalo. "Honestly, I've been playing Madden with my boys, and I created a franchise and I created my player, and I went to the [Buffalo] Bills. Throughout the season ... it was snowing and I'm like, 'I gotta get traded.' But I picked the Bills because I like [quarterback] Tyrod [Taylor], and Sammy [Watkins] and all those great receivers. And they have nice uniforms, so I went there and I demanded a release, and then I signed with the Raiders for a three or four year deal contract for, like, $26 million and it was cool. It was me ... and [receiver] Amari [Cooper] and we were dominating, we were the franchise. We're almost to the Super Bowl, about to meet up with Tom Brady ..." Chances are Juju would've experienced similar weather had he started a franchise with the Steelers.
  6. Yes, Kelso was better known for his helmet than for what he did on the field. Henry Jones was the best Bills' Safety in my lifetime, but he played SS. Maybe because of this:
  7. Beane has said he believes in building through the draft and not making any big splashes in free agency. The Bortles plan would seem to align with that philosophy.
  8. Free Agency: C Matt Paradis, DEN RT Ja'Wuan James, MIA WR John Brown, BAL TE Maxx Williams, BAL Draft: BPA Playoffs
  9. Oh, how I yearn for the days when Rex Ryan was strolling around in a Thurman Thomas jersey & the Bills were a national brand.
  10. Ryan - the day he was hired. Living in nyc, I loved having a front seat to Rex's antics every week. More than that, I loved having him coach for one of our division rivals. Marrone - the day he quit. Wasn't a huge fan, but Marrone was light years ahead of the guys who came before him. Gailey - when he announced a pre-season QB competition, then quickly named Captain Checkdown the starter, then cut him after 2 starts. Jauron - the day he was hired. A mediocre defensive coordinator whose Jaguars became a top 5 defense the minute he left. As HC, he had 1 winning season in 5 years, along with a 1 & done playoff loss at home. Mularkey - not beating the Steelers' backups is the easy answer. However, I respect Mularkey for walking away instead of taking a paycheck when he saw which direction the team was heading (beginning with Marv Levy becoming GM). Williams - I don't remember ever being a fan, but I can't recall a defining moment. Phillips - When he started Johnson over Flutie in the playoffs is the easy answer. Wade later said that decision came from above, but at the same time, Wade was willing to take a stand 2 years later when the Bills wanted him to replace his failing ST coach. Way to pick your battles, Wade. Also, does anyone remember the Monday night football game against the Colts in December of '00? In an interview before the game between the two 7-6 teams, Wade made a crack that neither team was going to the playoffs. The Colts won that game, as well as their next two, and did go to the playoffs. Wade's Bills did not.
  11. Do you think Josh Allen would be willing to change his jersey number to 5? Edit: Wow, the Bills traded away Tyrod Taylor (#5) just a few days before Brown signed with the Ravens...
  12. I'm assuming it's the same guy. I only know of one John Brown in the league, though I don't recall the Bills making an offer to him.
  13. DJax doesn't seem like a guy our coaches would be interested in. He'd probably become a headache when he didn't get the ball as much as he'd like. I'd much rather they target John "Smokey" Brown, who probably would've had a 1,200 yard, 8 TD season if not for Lamar Jackson. And you never heard a peep out of John Brown about it.
  14. James Lofton, obviously. His 10 years away from coaching have probably left him very well rested.
  15. Blake Bortles. With a name like that, it was obvious he wasn't going to be any good. No offense to anyone here named Blake, or Bortles.
  16. Foles will likely command $25M+/yr this offseason. Even if he gives the Eagles a discount (he does love it there), we're still talking at least $20M/yr. Wentz counts for $8.5M this year, and the Eagles have a team option for 2020 that pays him the average of the top 10 QB salaries (probably ~$30M). Wentz is cheaper in the short term, but maybe not THAT much cheaper. I'd be more concerned about Wentz's injuries, particularly the fractured vertebra(e). I don't know how other QBs have fared with that, but it wasn't good for Romo's career.
  17. If I recall correctly, your respect for Rob Ryan was unparalleled.
  18. Marcellus was a solid player, but he didn't want to be here.
  19. Totally agree. The less time left for Brees, the better. That pass should've been caught, but IMO the play never should've happened in the first place.
  20. Not a caption, but I was mildly amused watching Kraft try to sing along without knowing the words.
