  1. Damn, just turned on WS after watching hockey - rock 'em sock 'em start. Bottom 4, 5-3 Astros.
  2. This post reminded me of another live album I like, "Hanx!" - Stiff Little Fingers
  3. Fair enough wrt Cashman, if they plan to move on why wait? Just thought it was odd that Boone got a public vote of confidence and Cashman didn't when both are on every Yankee fans mind. They should 100% resign Judge. Home grown , beloved by the fan base, enormously telaneted. Disappeared in the playoffs and it's unlikely he'll ever replicate his regular season - regardless, he's a player any team should want. BTW, Go Isles. Nice shutout on Potvin Socks night!
  4. Hendrix Live at Monterey and Band of Gypsys were pretty good.
  5. "If it's too loud, you're too old". I've always gravitated towards hard/heavy rock and IMO not many live albums capture the concussive sound of a live show. I always thought Michael Schenker Group's Live at Budokan did - but maybe that's cuz back in the day we had massive speakers at the fraternity house. Just listened to this through earbuds and it didn't have the same gravitas. Still think it captures the essence of so many shows I went to.
  6. Dropping this here because it doesn't deserve it's own thread and I thought hockey fans might appreciate it. Denis Potvin turns the sucks chants from Rangers fans into something humorous and charitable: https://www.nhl.com/news/islanders-to-sell-potvin-socks-during-game-against-rangers/c-336788608
  7. I'm not saying Cashman will (or even should) get canned. But why would Hal make comments about Boone coming back but not Cashman?
  8. I would imagine if Cashman gets let go this decision will be revisited by the incoming GM.
  9. Mets fan so there's no way I can root for the Phillies. Plus Wheeler and Thor winning one for a long time rival would make it a tougher pill to swallow. I have nothing against either player, but it would be another reminder of unmet (get it?) expectations. I'm past the Astros cheating, but it's not like I'll be popping champagne if they win.
  10. If he had held out an extra day he could've gotten tickets on the cheap. stubhub had tix for $18 earlier today.
  11. @Gugny Hung with an old friend (Mets fan) the other night and went through my WS pecking order - he flip-flopped Yankees and Phillies. Hmm.
  12. I was on the opposite side of a similar coin the other night. Iron Maiden - probably my first arena concert in 25+ years. I just wanted to hear 'the oldies' but the setlist didn't play out like that. What was your wife's opinion of Rock Lobster? Mine hates it, but my boys (16 and 19) get it. Good times.
  13. My pecking order is Padres, Astros, Phillies, Yankees. But I don't have a soft spot in my heart for any of them - it's more about who I can't stand the least.
  14. Mariano would've been a good guy to have around tonight.
  15. Can't believe I was rooting for the Philles, now they can go !@#$ themselves! It's been fun seeing ex Mets on the remaining playoff teams. Sewald, Kelenic, Montero, Rosario, Jimenez, D'Arnaud, Wheeler, Thor...did I miss anyone?
  16. LOL - before I opened the thread my first thought was Seek and Destroy. %#@%# Hostile was #2.
  17. Never listened to them before - that was great.
  18. Shadowboxing when I heard you on the radio (Uh) I just don't know What made you forget that I was raw? But now I got a new tour I'm going insane, starting the hurricane, releasing pain Letting you know that you can't gain, I maintain Unless you say my name Ripping, killing Digging and drilling a hole Pass the Ol' Gold I'm gonna knock you out
  19. DeGrom: Cohen has already made it clear that he won't be out-bidded - but I think you're right that Jake will go elsewhere - Braves would be a nightmare. Judge: If he doesn't stay with the Yankees the Giants are a natural. Unless Cohen opens up the checkbook. That would be more likely if Jake walks IMO Appreciate your thoughts and comments but comparing Bay to McCann is off the mark. Both were mistakes, one was far more detrimental and costly. McCann's contract won't hold back Cohen's Mets like Bay's did for Wilpon's Mets. As to the farm system: teams like the Braves and Cardinals do a better job than us. Wish I knew why.
  20. Well put. It was a collective failure that started right after the Dodgers series. I kept hoping they'd snap out of the funk but it never happened. Biggest disappoint for me was Jake and Max down the stretch. Hard to reconcile the team we watched this past month vs. the team earlier this year when Nimmo seemed to open every game with a 10 pitch walk or HBP, Pete was crushing, Max was dealing ane the trumpets for Diaz were an event. It will be interesting to see if Jake walks. Nothing I've heard from him makes me think he wants to stay. I think the infield will stay intact next year - with the Mets hoping that Baty becomes the starter at 3rd. They need an upgrade in the OF. Canha is a solid player but not a star. I like Nimmo but he really isn't a CFer. Mets could move Marte back to CF if they don't bring Nimmo back. Seems obvious they'll move on from McCann and go into next year with Nido/Alvarez - also hoping that Alvarez becomes the #1. I expect at least 2 of the 5 starters to not be back. Bullpen is always a merry-go-round - especially with Diaz being a free agent.
  21. If I remember correctly he had a loaded gun in his pants when he went to a club and it accidentally went off. Pretty sure Stevie mocked him as part of a TD celebration.
  22. That game effin sucked. When's the next one? Can't wait!
  23. Has there ever been a game more deserving of a tie?
  24. True dat. I just do a low stakes pool but that's probably why I'm still watching.
