  1. That's the right way to do Alaska imo. I was fortunate to do a week on land and then the week long cruise. It was great, but even two weeks wasn't long enough. Not sure if I'll ever get to Australia but my guess is it would need to be a minimum of two weeks too.
  2. Is it you again outside Just banging on the front door? You say you had enough Now you're comin' back for more But that's alright I said that, "That's alright" I may not want to admit it I'm just a fool for your stockings I believe
  3. Great lists! I've been fortunate enough to check off a number of the things on your travel list - I'd put the Alaska cruise at the top. No check marks for your sports list - Kentucky Derby and SEC football game are great ones - for the SEC game I'd go with the Florida/Georgia Outdoor Cocktail Party. Ironically I strongly considered the NCAA lacrosse final four last year. Ironic because before last year I had never watched a lacrosse game at any level - but my eldest goes to UMD and the final four wasn't far from home. "Enjoy every day as if it is my last" - can't think of any better words to live by.
  4. There's no point in asking, you'll get no reply Oh just remember I don't decide I got no reason it's all too much You'll always find us Out to lunch Oh we're so pretty Oh so pretty We're vacant
  5. ...unknown to me
  6. Heavyweight contender Gerry Cooney grew up a couple of blocks from me but he's a few years older. I can remember him visiting the high school leading up to one of his title fights. And I was in the same college graduation class as NHL Hall of Famer Adam Oates. A few other players had lesser success in the NHL including Sabres goalie Darren Puppa. I remember crossing paths with him once in an administration building and overheard someone tell him to make sure to let them know if he needed anything. Not sure why, but I didn't get a similar offer from the staff.
  7. My only beef was he had a tendency to beat a dead horse. In the 8th inning he'd still be harping on something from the 2nd inning. And it was worse when I didn't agree with what he was harping on. But overall he was outstanding, I'd probably rank him as the best baseball analyst I ever heard.
  8. Office Space?
  9. Domestic travel: Monumental Valley and Antelope Canyon - had a great trip planned including stops at both that got scuttled by Covid and that's gonna bug me until I get there. A bonus would be a side trip to The Wave, but that's unlikely. Overseas travel: Australia and Spain Sports: Army-Navy football game
  10. Porcupine Tree and Robert Fripp is probably not everyone's cuppa tea 😀 ! Works for me, maybe others.
  11. She gonna look pretty smart if he's leaving? Don't know her but my guess is it's a wash either way.
  12. Hello, says my shaky voice, well, how are you doing I start to stutter Ah, can't you tell I'm doing fine It was my baby talking, she's way down across the border She says, I'm going to hurry to you, I've been a fool And I'm tired of crying Yeah, a long, long, long, hot summer night As far as my eyes could see (as far, as far as I could see) But I can feel the heat coming on as my baby's getting closer
  13. McCarver was a solid player for many years. Played in an era that catchers didn't hit much (except for Bench), but he was a pretty good hitter all the same. I don't remember him being great (or bad for that matter) at throwing out runners but I'm pretty sure he was well respected as a catcher. Had a strong connection/history with HOFer Steve Carlton. As an announcer I think he made his name with the Mets. First guy I can remember that was hyper analytical and not afraid to be critical. I learned a lot listening to him. He also p!ssed people off as a result. Had public disagreements with Mets manager Davey Johnson and more famously with Deion Sanders which culminated in an on air incident in a Braves post season locker room celebration. And yeah, Bo Derek thought he'd make a great leading man in a movie. A life well led. RIP.
  14. RIP. I learned a lot about baseball listening to him as an announcer. Fun fact: Bo Derek once wanted Tim to play a role in a movie opposite her. (brief mention here)
  15. A few years back Bozzio joined Dweezil Zappa's touring band for at least one recorded show and brought his huge drum kit. Bozzio was side by side with Joe Travers who had a minimal drum kit - when they traded drum solos I enjoyed Travers more. Which isn't to suggest that Travers is 'better' than Bozzio - just an observation that surprised me. I'll also take this opportunity to post (probably not for the first or even second time) my fave from the Zappa Plays Zappa tours. Absolutely love the guitar jam/solo that starts around 4 minutes in.
  16. These notes are marked "Return to Sender" I'll save this letter for myself I wish you only knew How good it is to see you See you
  17. I think #2 would be the best next step. There are always going to be plays where two people view the same play differently. In the end we take time out from game play to do a Zapruder-like investigation that as often than not many think they got it wrong.. View the replay in real-time and if it's not obvious, let the call on the field stand and move on.
  18. Headed 'cross the border Looking for a place to play I left the sun behind I don't mind But I think that it looked like rain Hold back the water I gotta find time to burn
  19. I loved standing by the water and just knowing what it's for It's all right to swim and sip it- let me have a little more Like my woman like my shower- get them hot until their steaming Love to find a little spot- nice and shady that's for dreamin' of the riches
  20. David Wright is the quintessential Hall of Very Good for me. I'm not a big fan of the argument that since player X got in, that that player Y should too. I feel like the Halls get dumbed down by this mentality every time they let (what I consider) a marginal candidate. With that said, I feel like Rolen and Wright were pretty similar in talent- except that Rolen was a much better third baseman. In the past week or so I read some of Deion Sanders comments that the NFL Hall should have an 'upper room' for the truly elite. Interesting thought but it wouldn't be necessary or worth considering if they raised the bar of entry. Back to baseball - looks like Cohen is on a kick to retire more and more Mets numbers. A nice sentiment, but I'm not a fan of that either. I prefer that it remain an exclusive honor.
  21. No more credit from the liquor store My suit is all dirty, boy My shoes is all wore I'm tired and lonely, my heart is all sore Advance romance
  22. Interesting that you used a dryer as an example. We had a repair on our dryer a few weeks ago and didn't have any issues using our extended warranty to cover it - which isn't to suggest that what you describe doesn't happen, just not to me - yet. My fave warranty story was our microwave. It was trouble from day 1 and we had it 'repaired' multiple times while it was under warranty and then it died shortly after whatever coverage we had expired. Problem was the model was discontinued so we couldn't just replace it and the mounting kit was flush with the backsplash tile and I couldn't find a model that I could hang on the same mounting kit. I ended up buying an extended warranty. By the terms of the warranty I couldn't make a claim until 3 months passed. So I waited 3 months, made the call and by a stroke of luck we finally got the unit fixed.
  23. 20-30 years ago an uncle told me that extended warranties weren't worth the paper they were written on and for years I took that to heart. For the past decade or so I've had or heard of so many issues with new appliances that I get the extended warranty more often than not.
