  1. MFer!!! Was looking forward to watching this game all day but it's one of the few games during the season that I don't get. Good luck to your Sabres - not really cuz my Isles could really use a W tonight - but good luck all the same.
  2. Lyric thread caused a synapse to fire for a song I hadn't thought of or heard for many years:
  3. And where do we go from here? Which is a way that's clear? Still looking for that blue-jean baby-queen Prettiest girl I've ever seen See her shake on the movie screen Jimmy Dean (James Dean)
  4. Yup - and Sabres aren't the only team with a bunch of games in hand on my Isles. And while I don't expect the Isles to hold on I'll hold out hope. Might sound silly with so many games still left but feels like a must-win game for my team.
  5. Don't worry, sweet baby! Don't you ever worry about a thing Put them worries on the shelf and learn to love yourself Don't be your own worst enemy Hang loose, hang loose Let the ocean worry about being blue Hang loose, hang loose Go with the tide and I'ma take care of you
  6. Tomorrow You're gonna have to live with the things you say Tomorrow You'll have to cross bridges that you burned today Tomorrow And everything you do, it's coming back to you You'll never outrun what waits for you tomorrow
  7. Love comes to you and you follow Lose one, on to the heart of the sunrise Sharp distance How can the wind with its arms all around me? Lost on a wave and then after Dream on, on to the heart of the sunrise
  8. Speak to me of summer Long winters longer than time can remember The setting up of other roads To travel on in old accustomed ways I still remember the talks by the water The proud sons and daughter That knew the knowledge of the land Spoke to me in sweet accustomed ways
  9. In response to Max Scherzer trying to exploit the pitch clock MLB issues a clarification: “A quick pitch may be assessed when a pitch is delivered with 8 seconds or less remaining on the Pitch Timer, if, in the umpire’s judgment, the batter, although alert to the pitcher, has not had sufficient time to become reasonably set in the batter’s box,” the rule states. https://nypost.com/2023/03/04/mlb-cracks-down-on-max-scherzers-attempt-to-exploit-pitch-clock/ I think we need to fully define what 'reasonably set' means - maybe put a time limit on it so we're all clear.
  10. Poison ivy ya come creepin up right behind me You make me itch baby you're so unkind
  11. Islander fan checking in with fellow Bills fans to get Buffalo perspective on the upcoming Sabres/Isles game. Isles are in the midst of a big 4 game stretch (beat the Red Wings today) against wild card contenders. We're in playoff position right now but it's a mirage because most of the teams behind us have enough games in hand to easily surpass. I could complain about injuries but we've been winning since our best player went down. Goalie is having a great season, but overall the team looks like they're on the downside of a nice run that left them just short of the finals two straight years. I don't see Isles as Cup contenders but I'm hoping for another shot at the playoffs. Read a few recent comments in this thread - sounds like Sabres brought in some toughness. That's a good thing IMO. Playoff hockey is not the same as regular season. Interested in any thoughts about the Sabres and the upcoming game.
  12. I can't answer this poll. I had no expectations for Sean when he got hired - he was pretty much an unknown to me. I had hope he'd be a part of turning the franchise around and from that perspective he's succeeded. This past year was the first season hope turned into expectation for me. And the team collectively fell short. Sean owns a part of that - but I'm in the camp that thinks the unusual circumstances the team faced played a bigger role. Doesn't mean I'm dismissing his part in 13 seconds - he owns most of that.
  13. Concentration Moon Over the camp in the valley Concentration Moon Wish I was back in the alley With all of my friends Still running free Hair growing out Every hole in me
  14. Junkie man tell me what your story is My hand went blind You were in the vein clairvoyant You were in the vein clairvoyant My hand went blind I make love to my transistor, my transistor And my transparency from the balcony I looked out on the big field, on the big field It opens like the cover of an old bible And out come the wolves, out come the wolves
  15. I expect the Jets to improve at QB one way or the other this off season and they scare me more short and long term than the Dolphins. But that's OK, as long as we have a healthy Josh I'll feel good about our chances.
  16. Aaron Rodgers with the Jets would scare me more.
  17. If I were the G-men I'd franchise him. No way I'd sign him multi-year at any price but I'd give him another year. Giants are coming off a playoff year after a number of years of sucktitude and I'm not sure what the quick fix would be. I'd give him another year with Daboll - and from Schoen's perspective start the succession planning. If it's not needed -doubtful - even better.
  18. More fun and games in spring training with the pitch clock. Veteran Max Scherzer is using spring training to see how he can exploit the new rules. https://www.espn.com/mlb/story/_/id/35777602/max-scherzer-balk-umps-need-figure-pitch-clock-limits In other new baseball rules news the Red Sox test out an outfield shift since infield shifts are restricted: https://ftw.usatoday.com/2023/03/mlb-shift-rule-loophole-outfielder-joey-gallo
  19. Not the Family Truckster in metallic pea green? If you think you hate it now, just wait until you take it cross country! (paraphrase)
  20. @Albany,n.y. did not
  21. @Gugny @ExWNYer @Another Fan SNY is replaying the Old Timers game right now. It started at 9 and goes until 11.
  22. Rule changes begetting more rule changes is not a good thing IMO.
  23. A 20 second strikeout courtesy of the new pitch clock rules: https://clutchpoints.com/yankees-news-wandy-peralta-makes-pitch-clock-look-foolish-with-20-second-strikeout
  24. The first time I played I showed up with my frisbee and my brother-in-law shook his head and laughed. He must have had at least 20-30 disks - looked like he was dealing out of the trunk of his car.
